King of the Wilderness

Chapter 665: Chapter 323: Wilderness All-in Roast

Lin Yu’an used the freed nylon shoelace to tightly bind the connection between the Stone Spearhead and the Spear Shaft, wrapping it in an extremely complex yet firm manner.

He wrapped layer upon layer to ensure the pressure was evenly distributed across the entire joint.

Each loop he pulled tight with all his strength, the tough nylon shoelace deeply embedded into the hard wooden shaft.

Until the last trace of a gap between the Stone Spearhead and the Spear Shaft was completely eliminated under this tremendous pressure.

Finally, he used a double fisherman’s knot, highly reliable in both sailing and rock climbing, to finish off, firmly securing the rope’s end without the possibility of loosening.

A Composite Stone Spear, gleaming with the sharp flash of flint, a straight shaft filled with a sense of primitive power and lethal beauty, was born in his hands!

Lin Yu’an stood up, holding this heavy weapon, and at the entrance of the shelter, facing the dark forest illuminated by the firelight, he tried a few thrusts.

The sharp Stone Spearhead cut through the air, making whooshing sounds. He could clearly feel each vibration from the spear tip transmitting solidly to his palm.

He looked at the Stone Spear in his hand with satisfaction, feeling its solid and reliable weight.

”Alright,” Lin Yu’an said to the camera with a hint of uncontrollable excitement in his voice, ”now, not only do we have a shelter and fire, but we also have a true weapon.”

This Stone Spear will be his most trustworthy safeguard while traversing the jungle in the days to come.

After completing all this, he glanced at the western sky.

The sun had completely set behind the ridge, leaving a splash of colorful sunset at the horizon, like the burning embers, enveloping the entire valley in a soft yet mysterious twilight.

Fog began to rise in the mountain forest, mingling with the cooking smoke, making the surroundings appear hazy.

It was also at this moment that a wave of emptiness from his stomach, like the beating of drums, reminded him that from morning until now he had had virtually no energy intake.

Every cell in his body screamed with Hunger. He had to seize this last bit of light to prepare a dinner that could replenish his energy.

Lin Yu’an looked at the camera, showing a smile full of anticipation, ”During the day we found a supermarket, now it’s time to go shopping. Tonight, let’s have a full-course barbecue feast.”

Clutching the newly made Stone Spear tightly, it gave him an unprecedented sense of security.

He quickly walked back to the wild banana grove behind the shelter. Under the twilight, the banana grove appeared even more profound, with giant leaves obscuring the sky and casting large, heavy shadows, only a few beams of residual light pierced through the gaps in the leaves, scattering mottled light patches on the ground.

Lin Yu’an’s gaze swiftly scanned the forest, finally locking onto a relatively slender and fresher wild banana tree.

This was a rational choice; the younger the plant, the fewer fibers in its core, meaning its starch content was purer and its taste was better.

”Banana leaves are perfect cookware, but the true treasure of the banana tree is hidden within its body.” Lin Yu’an said as he walked towards the selected wild banana tree.

He did not rush to act, but first tapped the tree trunk with the end of the Stone Spear, feeling that firm touch filled with moisture.

The sharp flint spearhead, carrying the sound of the wind, struck hard about twenty centimeters above the root of the wild banana.

”Pchht!”

Accompanied by a crisp ’crack’ sound, the spear tip easily sliced through the tough leaf sheath, deeply embedding into the pseudostem.

A burst of fresh sap unique to plants instantly splattered out, and he withdrew the Stone Spear and cut down again from another angle, each chop and smash was precise and powerful.

Soon, accompanied by an unbearable creaking sound, the wild banana tree slowly tilted to one side, finally crashing to the ground with a thud.

Lin Yu’an didn’t bother with the enormous leaves but quickly used the Stone Spear and Stone Knife to extract the most robust and essential segment from the fallen pseudostem, carried it on his shoulder, and promptly returned to the camp.

By now, night had completely fallen, and in the valley, it was pitch dark. The campfire became the only light source and warm center in this dark World, the flames crackled and illuminated the surrounding rock walls with flickering light.

”Now, let’s deal with tonight’s main course.”

Lin Yu’an placed the stout section of the pseudostem on the cleaned ground beside the fire, first using a sharp stone fragment, he began to peel away the old dark green leaf sheaths layer by layer, like peeling an onion.

Each layer of leaf sheath was very thick, filled with tough fibers and a lot of moisture.

With each layer peeled away, a more intense plant aroma, resembling a mixture of cucumber and young bamboo shoots, spread out, refreshing and invigorating.

As layer by layer was peeled away, the pseudostem’s diameter visibly shrank, its color transitioning from dark green to tender green, then yellow-green, and finally to an inviting milky white.

Finally, when the last layer of thin, cicada-wing-like leaf sheath was peeled away, a stem core as tender and moist as a giant water bamboo or palm heart appeared in full view.

Its surface was extremely smooth, so delicate that no traces of fibers were visible, and even on the cut surface, crystal clear droplets slowly seeped out, looking vibrant and full of pure moisture.

He held the stem core towards the camera, with the firelight casting a soft glow upon it, ”Look, this is the essence of the banana tree, rich in starch and moisture.”
