King of the Wilderness

While waiting for the fat to turn into oil, she cleaned the Thunderbird, skillfully skinned it, and then used the knife tip along the breastbone to swiftly slice off two pieces of the finest breast meat, cutting them into small chunks.

When there was enough oil in the pot, she scooped out the melted, crispy, golden remnants of oil, and without thinking, she tossed them directly into her mouth, biting down with a crunch. The rich scent and concentrated flavor of oil burst instantly, making her blissfully squint her eyes!

Then, without hesitation, she dumped all the Thunderbird meat chunks into the sizzling hot oil!

”Sizzle——”

The meat chunks meeting the hot oil erupted instantly with a more intense sound and stronger aroma! White steam rose up, blurring her vision as the surface of the meat rapidly changed from pink to golden brown under the high heat!

For someone who had eaten bark for two days, this was a feast for both sight and smell!

In just a few minutes, a plate of ”Pan-Seared Thunderbird Meat,” crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, was ready! She directly used the knife tip to pick up a piping hot piece and sent it to her mouth.

First came the crispy outer layer’s rich aroma mixed with seal oil, followed closely by the inner tender and juicy poultry. This complex flavor instantly awakened her dulled taste buds from eating bland food for so long!

She could even taste the faint, fish liver oil-like salinity that the seal oil brought. Rather than ruining the taste, it made the meat’s flavor more multidimensional and wild.

Kelly devoured all of the Thunderbird meat ravenously. This meal restored her dignity and happiness as a ”civilized person.”

After finishing this appetizer, the warmth in her belly brought a surge of strength to her body, weakened by prolonged Hunger! She began to handle the remaining abundant resources.

Kelly spread the giant seal skin on the shelter’s ground, carefully using the Hunting Knife to separate the thick layer of fat from the skin completely.

It was a long and meticulous task, with her knife blade needing to maintain a slight angle at all times, closely hugging the inner layer of the skin, like a surgeon performing a separation operation.

Her left hand pulled the skin, while her right hand maneuvered the knife, clearly feeling the subtle sensation as the knife’s edge severed the last fiber connection between the fat and dermis.

She had to be extremely careful, shaving off as much fat as possible, since every gram of fat was crucial for her future survival.

Finally, she had a large pile of pure, cold, slippery fat. She weighed the largest chunk, estimated the total amount, and had a rough figure in her mind.

”At least 15 pounds... maybe more! This is like a mountain of fat! Pure energy!” Kelly exclaimed to the camera, her voice filled with incredulous excitement.

She once again put the pot on the fire, this time adding a large amount of clean snow. Once the snow water boiled, she cut all the remaining seal fat into large chunks and tossed them into the pot.

The goal now was not for flavor but for long-term preservation. Boiling water can thoroughly kill potential microbes in the fat and remove some of the blood and impurities, which is one of the traditional methods polar natives use to preserve fat.

White fat chunks tumbled in the boiling water, and soon a thicker layer of grease floated on the surface, the scent far less appetizing than when frying meat, with an intense fishy smell filling the entire shelter.

When the fat chunks turned translucent, reduced in size, and were fully cooked, she used a fork made from a stick to pick up a still slightly quivering piece of fat, blew on it, and then sent it into her mouth.

The most genuine taste of seal fat unfolded on her taste buds without reservation.

First was the strong oceanic and gamey aroma, stronger than expected. The fat became astonishingly soft and slimy after boiling, requiring almost no chewing, like a semi-solid oily paste easily melting under the tongue’s pressure.

”Folks, to be honest, the texture and taste are far from delicious. In the civilized World, this would be inedible food.”

But Kelly was indifferent at this moment, closing her eyes, forcing herself to ignore the protest from her taste buds, enduring the discomfort and eating.

She could clearly feel that when this high-calorie substance slid down her throat into her stomach, it was as if a long-dormant engine inside her body was reignited!

A warm current rose from the abdomen, quickly spreading to every cell in her body, with her cells cheering because of the high Purity energy being injected!

She understood that she wasn’t eating food, but rather the ticket that would allow her to continue traversing this frozen land!

Kelly picked up piece after piece, swallowing them expressionlessly, mechanically sending these ”Energy Blocks” into her body.

She estimated that fifteen pounds equals approximately 6.8 kilograms of pure fat, with over 61,000 calories calculated at 900 calories per 100 grams.

Considering her daily minimum need for 4000 calories, this amount of fat could support her for fifteen days!

”Half a month...”

”A whole half month without worrying about calories.”

This number gave her an unprecedented sense of security! It meant she had enough time and energy to research how to enhance the stability of the Arrow feathers and make more refined Arrow feathers! Rather than being forced by Hunger every day, venturing out with imperfect Arrow feathers.
