My Emperor Father Can Read Minds

The person who had been exhausted from overthinking went back and immediately lay down again.

As for the opening banquet, he handed it all over to Xiao Anzi to handle.

Last time, when Wei Yu drew the shipbuilding blueprints, his father promised him a month off after finishing the drawings. Now, there were almost no days left of that vacation.

He wasn’t sure what his father would arrange for him next, but Wei Yu had made up his mind to lie down whenever possible.

He was determined to fully enjoy every day of his vacation!

Wei Yu asked Fang Sheng to investigate Liu Chanyi, and the next day, Fang Sheng presented the results.

Fang Sheng: “Liu Chanyi is the grandson of Liu Ru, the former Prefect of the capital, ranked sixth, and the only son of the third household. He has a withdrawn personality and didn’t speak much as a child. He didn’t speak until he was four years old. The doctor said he suffers from ‘idiocy,’ and his wet nurse said it might have been caused by his mother being startled by a horse during pregnancy.”

The only son of the third household, he must be a precious treasure.

Wei Yu asked, “The elder from the Liu family who came here is Liu Chanyi’s father?”

“No, it’s Liu Ru’s second son, Liu Wei.” Wei Yu was confused. “Liu Chanyi is the only son of the third household in the Liu family. Did his parents really send him to the capital just like that? Aren’t they worried something might happen on the way?”

Fang Sheng answered this question.

“The Liu family already owns a house in the capital, located in the southern market of the outer city. They came to the capital this time not only to congratulate His Highness the Eighth Prince, but also to prepare for the upcoming imperial examination of the third son of the Liu family. As for bringing Liu Chanyi, it was also to treat his ‘idiocy.’”

When someone says “idiocy,” they mean stupidity.

Whether it’s actually idiocy is hard to say. At least, when Wei Yu met the child yesterday, he didn’t think he was stupid—he was just particularly immersed in his own world and didn’t pay attention to others.

Modern people often say that children with autism can produce geniuses.

Wei Yu actually hoped so.

That way, he could find a companion for Liu Er’ya—oh, I mean, Liu Jiuyuan.

Little geniuses learning together, with competition comes progress!

Then, he could become the head of the genius academy, and with one command, everything would be at his fingertips. How wonderful.

Dreams should always be had.

Liu Chanyi’s matter wasn’t urgent for now; he could observe for a while. For now, Wei Yu was focused on continuing to lie down and enjoy life.

–

The opening banquet of the Eighth Prince was lively, but Wei Yu didn’t expect his own opening banquet to be even livelier.

Because all eight of his older brothers showed up!

Unlike the lively discussions of officials at the Eighth Prince’s mansion, now it was Wei Yu’s turn. A group of officials sat upright at his banquet, none of them speaking loudly, all of them glancing at the central table.

At the central table, Wei Yu sat at the main seat, exhausted, staring at his circle of brothers.

On his left was the bold and decisive Eldest Prince, and the other brothers sat in a circle according to their rank, with the Eighth Prince sitting at the far right.

Although the brothers sat orderly, as soon as they sat down, they began to verbally spar.

Each one was polite and dignified on the surface, but when they spoke, it was all subtle sarcasm.

Fifth Prince: “Wasn’t Third Brother feeling unwell last time? Oh, I don’t know which physician saw him. The so-called divine doctor, huh? I heard Seventh Brother fell off a horse yesterday, should we get this divine doctor to check him out?”

Seventh Prince: “Heh, looks like Fifth Brother is too idle, even knows when my little fall happened. I wonder if you also know when a dog in the capital disappeared.”

Second Prince: “Hey, hey, hey, Seventh Brother, Fifth Brother is just concerned about you. Third Brother’s physician is good; why not let him take a look? Isn’t that right, Third Brother?”

Third Prince: “The Imperial Medical Office has sixteen doctors. If you want to see one, go ahead.”

Fourth Prince: “Huh? Eldest Brother, I’ve never seen you wear that jade pendant on your waist. It must’ve cost a lot of silver, huh?”

Eldest Prince: “It’s just a piece of rough jade offered by the servants. Fourth Brother, don’t tell me you don’t even have one?”

Sixth Prince: “Eighth Brother, your pastries aren’t as good as Ninth Brother’s.”

Eighth Prince: “…”

Each spoke their own mind, none paying attention to Wei Yu.

So difficult.

He regretted hosting this opening banquet.

Wei Yu sighed inwardly, looking around. Finally, he couldn’t be bothered and just picked up his chopsticks to eat.

At the table of nine, seven were being sarcastic, and only two hands were busy with their chopsticks.

When Wei Yu reached for some meat, suddenly, two chopsticks fell.

The same piece of meat, the two owners of the chopsticks suddenly looked up.

Wei Yu: “Ah, Sixth Brother, I’m your little brother. For your health, let me take this piece of meat for you.”

Sixth Prince: “Ninth Brother, I’m the older brother. I’ve already eaten so much, this piece doesn’t matter. Oh right, I’m still a guest.”

Wei Yu stared at him, secretly trying to pull his chopsticks back.

However, he couldn’t pull it back.

His Sixth Brother’s chopsticks didn’t budge!

Wei Yu was shocked. “Sixth Brother, you’re so strong!”

Sixth Prince lowered his gaze in embarrassment, slightly ashamed. “I’m hungry, I want to eat.”

The movement finally drew the attention of the “sarcastic” brothers.

Fifth Prince looked down and saw that all the dishes near Sixth Prince were empty. His brows immediately furrowed. “Old Sixth!”

Sixth Prince shrank his neck in fright, but the hand that was competing with Wei Yu for the meat didn’t show any sign of retreating.

Perfectly embodying the spirit of not fearing death to eat.

“Didn’t you promise me before we entered that you’d eat less? Is this your idea of eating less?”

Fifth Prince pointed at the empty plates, demanding a reasonable explanation from Sixth Prince.

Sixth Prince’s explanation was perfectly reasonable. He firmly admitted he had eaten little.

“Yeah, I’ve already eaten less. I could still eat half of this at home.”

Looking at the five or six empty plates in front of him, the others: …

They were too hasty.

Fifth Prince silently shifted his gaze from Sixth Prince’s face to the table.

The two hands were still reaching out, chopsticks tightly clamping the shiny piece of meat, clearly neither would let go.

Fifth Prince tapped the back of their hands with his fan. “Let go, you two. As princes, quarreling over a piece of meat, aren’t you afraid of making a fool of yourselves?”

Wei Yu was reluctant to let go.

If no one else was competing, fine, but since someone was, he had to win.

This was a matter of his dignity as a man!

His dignity was soon taken away by his Fourth Brother’s chopsticks.

Wei Yu, Sixth Prince:!

“Look at the both of you, this shameful behavior, it’s just a piece of meat. I’ll go hunting outside the capital, and each of you can have a game, how’s that?”

Wei Yu and Sixth Prince helplessly watched as Fourth Brother swiped their hands aside and grabbed the meat for himself.

Wei Yu stared at him and silently made a “two” gesture.

“I want two, thank you.”

Sixth Prince hesitated before raising his left hand. “I… I want two as well.”

Eighth Prince followed suit. “Fourth Brother, also me, sorry to trouble you.”

The others watching also spoke up.

“Fourth Brother, don’t forget about Second Brother.”

“Thanks, Fourth Brother.”

“…”

Fourth Prince wasn’t eating that piece of meat anymore.

They were robbing him!
