Primordial Heir: Nine Stars

A new, electric confidence surged through Nero’s veins. The forest, once a domain of lurking threats requiring stealth and caution, now felt like a personal proving ground. With his strength elevated, equal to almost the peak of the Red Knight level and a second Law at his command, his approach shifted. He no longer saw himself as a hunter stalking prey, but as a force of nature moving to claim its due. A measure of caution remained—wisdom dictated never to be truly reckless—but the time for timid advances was over.

He moved not with flame, but with lightning. With a thought, he activated Flash Step. His body dissolved into a streak of golden light, zipping between the colossal trees. He wasn’t running; he was a current flowing along the path of least resistance, the world blurring into streaks of green and brown. Each teleportation ended with a soft crack of displaced air, a signature of his impossible speed.

It wasn’t long before his enhanced prana sense detected a powerful cluster of auras ahead. Peering from a high branch, he assessed the target. Ten orcs. Seven were the brutish Red Orcs, their auras burning with familiar, dull aggression. But three were different—denser, sharper. High Orcs. One, larger than the others, carried a massive, spiked greatmace that looked capable of pulverizing stone. This was a formidable hunting party, a challenge that would have demanded a strategic, hit-and-run approach just hours before.

Now, Nero simply smiled.

He Flash Stepped from the branch, landing directly in the center of their path, twenty paces away. He made no attempt to hide his presence. The orcs started, their guttural conversations cutting off as they turned to face the interloper.

The largest High Orc, the one with the greatmace, let out a roar that shook the leaves. It was a clear challenge.

Nero answered not with a roar, but with a whisper of power. ”Let’s test my current capacity to its fullest.’’

He began not with an attack, but with a defense. He raised his left hand, and the Law of Fire erupted. Crimson energy swirled around him, but it did not form wings or a weapon. Instead, it condensed, hardening into plates of shimmering, semi-transparent crimson energy that encased his torso, shoulders, and limbs like the scales of a mythical dragon. This was his Flame Aegis Armor.

But he wasn’t finished.

With his right hand, he summoned the Law of Lightning. Arcs of brilliant gold electricity snapped and crackled from his fingertips, weaving themselves through the armor of fire. The lightning did not fight the flame; it synergized with it. The crimson scales now crackled with a golden, dancing energy, creating a scintillating barrier of both immense heat and shocking power. This was no longer just a defense; it was a retaliatory weapon. Any blow that landed would be met with searing heat and a paralyzing electrical discharge.

The orcs, driven by rage and confusion, charged.

Nero stood his ground. The first Red Orc reached him, swinging a rusty axe in a wide arc. Nero didn’t dodge. He let the axe connect with his armored shoulder.

CRACK-BOOM!

The moment the axehead struck the Lightning-Flame Armor, two things happened. First, the fiery component instantly superheated the metal, causing it to glow red and soften. Second, the lightning discharged. A powerful golden arc leaped from the armor to the orc, traveling up the metal axe and into its body. The orc was thrown back, its body convulsing violently, smoke rising from its fur and its grip fused to the molten axe handle.

The other orcs hesitated for a fraction of a second, but the three High Orcs pushed through. The leader with the greatmace lunged, its weapon coming down in a devastating overhead smash meant to crush Nero into the earth.

This time, Nero moved. He Flash Stepped a mere foot to the left, the greatmace slamming into the ground where he had been, creating a small crater. As the weapon impacted, Nero was already in motion. His sword, now wreathed in a roaring vortex of fire that crackled with internal lightning—a technique he mentally named Stormblade—lashed out.

The combination was devastating. The fire component of the Stormblade melted through the High Orc’s own armor, while the lightning conducted through the molten metal, shocking its nervous system and locking its muscles. The blade cleaved deep into its side. The beast roared in agony, stumbling back, its side a charred, sparking ruin.

Nero became a whirlwind of elemental fury. He Flash Stepped behind a Red Orc, his Stormblade taking its head in a single, clean strike that left a cauterized neck sizzling with electricity. He spun, parrying a spear thrust from another High Orc with his armored forearm; the spear shaft shattered on impact, and the lightning crawling up the spear shocked the orc, leaving it momentarily stunned and open to a fatal thrust.

He moved with breathtaking speed and overwhelming power. He would use a Flash Step to create an opening, his Flame-Lightning Armor to negate any desperate counter-attacks, and his Stormblade to deliver a final, decisive blow. He was an unstoppable spectacle—a blazing, crackling demigod of war.

Within a minute, the cacophony of battle ceased. The seven Red Orcs lay dead, some charred, others convulsed from electrical overload. Two of the High Orcs were down. Only the leader remained, grievously wounded but still standing on sheer fury.

With a final, defiant roar, it charged, its greatmace held high.

Nero didn’t Flash Step away. He met the charge. As the greatmace descended, he brought his own Stormblade up in a mighty parry.

CLANG-SHZZZZT!

Fire and lightning met brute force. The enchanted steel of his sword held, and the combined elemental power he channeled proved superior. The greatmace was deflected, and in the same motion, Nero thrust his palm forward, directly against the orc’s chest.

”Dual Law: Scorching Thunder,” he intoned.

A concentrated blast of fire and lightning erupted from his palm. A pillar of crimson and gold energy consumed the High Orc Chieftain. There was no scream, only the violent roar of the elements. When the light faded, all that remained was a silhouette of ash that crumbled to the forest floor.

Nero stood amidst the carnage, his composite armor and Stormblade dissipating into motes of fading light. He took a deep, steadying breath. The fusion of his two Laws was not just effective; it was revolutionary. He had moved from mastering individual law to orchestrating their symphony. The path ahead was brighter, and far more explosive, than he had ever imagined. Still,

’’Damn, combining them sure taxing on the body and almost depleted my prana.’’ he plopped down, breathing heavily, despite using both prana from his primary core (the one he had access to) and second core inside his heart, he felt depleted. Caution must be exercised and he must refine his physical strength completely to be able to fully use the combinaison of dual laws.
