Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2062  Testing The Theory

Lin Mu recalled the Mnemonic of Omnicore Ascendancy that was deep within his memories.

It was directly imprinted onto his mind by the Altar and as such, it was fully remembered by him by instinct. He activated the Mnemonic silently and targeted the Eight Lobed Mellow coriander in his hand.

At first, nothing happened, and the herb stayed stationary. But then, a few seconds later, the herb started to float.

~shua~

It rose from Lin Muʼs hand and glowed in a faint green light before dissipating entirely. Its body broke apart, leaving behind tiny green wisps of light. They hovered over Lin Muʼs hand for a second before floating towards his chest.

Silently they entered the middle right side of his chest and disappeared into it.

From the outside, there was no other change, and even on the inside, there didnʼt seem to be much of a difference. But when Lin Mu used his Immortal sense to track the green wisps of light, he found them traveling to his liver.

The liver belonged to the wood element, and as such the wood elemental energy from the Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander went there.

ʼItʼs gathering.ʼ Lin Mu found that the small wisps reached the center of the liver.

There they clumped together and started to condense. Their glow started to fade the smaller they got, and after a certain point it just lost all illumination. At this point, Lin Mu couldnʼt even sense where the energy had gone.

ʼItʼs definitely there… I just canʼt sense it with how minuscule it has become.ʼ Lin Mu reckoned. ʼAt the very least, the technique activated as it was intended.ʼ He was assured that this could work.

Wanting to test this out further, Lin Mu willed tens of drawers to open. ~shua~

More herbs started to float out from the drawers and floated around Lin Mu. Half of these herbs were still Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander and Lin Mu wished to see just what was the effective limit.

”Time to increase the amount.” Lin Mu muttered and held half of the bunches of Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander.

He activated the Mnemonic of the Omnicore Ascendancy once more, letting it do its work.

~shua~

Just like before, the bunch of the herb floated up and dissipated, turning into wisps of green light.

The wisps of light entered Lin Muʼs liver once more, and clumped together. Because a higher amount of herb was used, the energy was more and thus the clump was also bigger. This time, Lin Mu observed it with more focus and watched as the clump continued to condense. It shrank and shrank until it was smaller than a speck of dust. It reached a point where even Lin Muʼs superior senses could not perceive it.

ʼIs the quality and quantity too low for it to be sensed?ʼ Lin Mu wondered.

Still, he wasnʼt one to give up on the theory so fast. It had barely been a few minutes and he had plenty of time to go. Lin Mu held the rest of the bunches of Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander and tried it again. ~SIP~

”Huh?” Lin Mu watched as the herbs dissipated.

But this time, there was a different result. Instead of turning into green wisps of light, they produced nothing.

”Did something go wrong?” Lin Mu furrowed his brows.

He tried with more Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander, but got the same result. He thought what was the reason and soon figured it out.

ʼI guess this is the limit. The same herb wonʼt work past a certain amount.ʼ Lin Mu thought. He still had a few doubts, but reckoned heʼll understand it with some more study.

”Iʼll do it till I get some positive result.” Lin Mu said with determination and held the other herbs.

This time it was a spirit herb called as Spirit Basil Root. It was a proper spirit herb and was used by spirit alchemists to make pills that could only be used by cultivators. This wasnʼt something mortals could consume like the Eight Lobed Mellow Coriander. The Spirit Basil root was as per its name, just a brown colored root that could be easily confused with many other roots. But the wood energy from it showed that it was indeed a true wood elemental herb.

~shua~

Once it dissipated, it released a lot of green wisps of light. The amount was nearly three times as much that Lin Mu had obtained before this from all the Eight Lobed Coriander. ʼPerhaps now itʼll work?ʼ Lin Mu thought and let the wisps enter his liver.

There, the clump started to condense and rapidly shrunk. But this time, Lin Mu could still sense it.

”Oh?” Lin Mu was surprised. ʼThe size is still minuscule, but at least I can sense it faintly.ʼ He thought.

Obtaining some results this time around, Lin Mu was a lot more motivated and continued the tests. And sure enough, after he had used a certain amount of Spirit Basil root, it stopped producing the same green wisps of light.

”This confirms it… thereʼs a limit to how many materials of the same type I can consume with the Omnicore Ascendancy.” Lin Mu concluded. ”So I canʼt just use bulk amounts of common materials.” He muttered, finding it a bit of a pity.

If he could really keep on using more common materials, it would make it a lot more simple in practicing the Omnicore Ascendancy.

”I need to see what the conditions are for hitting the limit. Is it just the lower quality that affects it, or is it a question of pure numbers?” Lin Mu muttered to himself, and drew out more herbs.

~SHUA~SHUA~SHUA~

More and more herbs were turned into pure wooden energy and absorbed into Lin Muʼs liver. His mind worked quickly and analyzed the quantities of herbs that were being used. He proceeded in a systematic manner, keeping their quality the same. This way he had a baseline, and could judge based on a single factor. After thirty minutes of absorbing and observing, Lin Mu solved a couple of his doubts.

”The quantity is certainly a factor in its absorption limit.” Lin Mu said before proceeding to the next condition which was the quality.

He moved to higher quality herbs.

Before he was using wood elemental spirit herbs that were intended for those at the core condensation realm and below. But now he was using those that would usually be consumed by Nascent soul realm cultivators.

~shua~

And once the energy was absorbed into his liver, the effect was certainly different.

”It is still present there… About half the size of a spec of dust…” Lin Mu got a better result.

The energy that had been gathered was still small enough to not be physically visible, but Lin Muʼs immortal sense picked up on it. From before, its size had increased, which showed that the technique was indeed working as intended.

”Iʼll keep this up until I have a ʼvisibleʼ result.” Lin Mu decided and a serious look appeared on his face.

He gazed at the tall tower of shelves and waved his hand.

~SHUA~SHUA~SHUA~

The herbs all started to fly out of the shelves in a systematic manner. From the lower quality to a higher quality, they lined up in front of Lin Mu.

~WHOOSH~ Lin Mu kept his hand extended, letting the herb touch it and be turned into wooden energy. The energy would then enter the liver, while the next herb approached and repeated the process. Like this, a cycle was soon created, as the herbs started to be consumed fast. It was like Lin Mu had turned into a factory, while the herbs were being fed to it with an invisible conveyor belt.

One herb per second, five herbs per second, ten herbs per second!

The process sped up, the more Lin Mu used the Mnemonic of Omnicore Ascendancy. His mind was split into several tasks, with one part using the technique, one observing his liver, and one calculating the amount of herbs that were used.

Minute after minute passed, and soon two days had passed.

In this time, the wood elemental energy within Lin Muʼs liver had become visible. It was now twice the size of a spec of dust!

Not just that, but Lin Mu could actually ʼseeʼ it now.

”Itʼs really there…” Lin Mu watched with his immortal sense.

The energy had turned into a single green point within his Liver. It was of course still very small, and hard to see. But it was certainly there and had a certain presence to it.

ʼThough there are no actual effects on my body from it.ʼ Lin Mu realized it would take a lot more for the effects to show.

So far, the total amount of herbs that Lin Mu had consumed was already over four hundred kilograms.

”Iʼm supposed to form a core with this… at this point it is just a dot… I guess I need tons more wood elemental energy.” Lin Mu understood.
