Immortality Begins With Internal Breathing

Chapter 407: True Origin Transformation (I)

A faint sizzling sound that was almost imperceptible drifted out. After the true origin shield was expanded, the dense Baleful Yin force surged toward it like moths rushing into flame. The true origin and the Baleful Yin force dissolved against one another as faint wisps of black smoke rose into the air.

Lin Zheyu hurriedly controlled his true origin and drew it inward rapidly. The hazy gray true origin shield around his body vanished in an instant. Immediately afterward, a thin layer of energy shield condensed beneath his skin. Under the protection of the energy shield, the erosion of the Baleful Yin force finally stopped.

Even with my trash aptitude, I can already feel such intense discomfort. Those cultivation prodigies must find it even harder to adapt. No wonder the once glorious Immortal Dao declined completely and can only hide within blessed lands to cultivate.

After retracting the true origin shield back into his body, the surging Baleful Yin force finally calmed down and no longer rushed toward him like moths to flame. The human physique possessed a natural defensive barrier. While it kept spiritual qi outside the body, it also blocked the Baleful Yin force from entering. Although Lin Zheyu was considered to have natural talent, his talent was merely trash-tier. His body had a very low affinity with spirit power. Once the true origin was withdrawn into his body, the natural barrier of his physique greatly reduced the Baleful Yin force’s consumption of his true origin.

True origin is indeed far stronger than ordinary true strength, yet it does not show any restraining effect against Baleful Yin force. A single unit of true origin can consume this much Baleful Yin force because of its powerful energy nature, not because of any special effect inherent to true origin. I condensed so many Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intents, yet they have almost no effect...

Lin Zheyu frowned slightly as he sensed his true origin being consumed rapidly.

The concentration of Baleful Yin force was still extremely high. If its density continued to rise and reached an even greater level, his true origin would certainly not last long.

Force Transformation realm martial artists have the concept of a primary true intent. Yet the forty-two true intents I condensed all have similar strength. None of them is cultivated as the primary focus, which is why my true origin appears as that hazy gray. This is caused by the true intents mixing together. Different true intents conflict with one another.

The special effects carried by different true intents must also clash, which weakens the overall effect of my true origin. Besides Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intents, I also cultivated Yin Cold true intent, Ice true intent, Azure Tide true intent, and other opposing true intents. Hm. Could I suppress the other true intents and trigger the effects of Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intent instead?

Martial artists of Azure Tide Pavilion might cultivate many true intents, yet Azure Tide true intent remains their primary focus, which is why their true strength appears light blue. Even with the Primordial Wuji True Technique, according to the technique’s description, martial artists would develop one or several primary true intents depending on their experiences, temperament, and character. The true strength they condense would also display a corresponding color.

Lin Zheyu was different. After condensing a true intent, he did not continue deepening his comprehension of that specific true intent. Instead, he shifted to cultivating another one. His understanding of each true intent remained roughly the same. Among the forty-two true intents he condensed, there was no distinction between primary true intent and secondary true intent.

The consequence was that the true origin he cultivated did not possess any particularly outstanding or powerful special effect. Instead, it appeared as a chaotic gray, containing a little of every effect yet none of them especially strong. However, there was also an advantage. When such a large number of true intents fused into his true strength, it produced a qualitative change. True strength transformed into liquid true origin, and the large number of true intents played no small role in this transformation.

”Although the true intent has fused into true origin, my comprehension still remains. The connection between the will of the spirit and the true origin is extremely close. If I use the true intent within my spirit to trigger or suppress certain true intents, it should work...” Lin Zheyu murmured softly.

The moment the idea arose, he began to experiment. He frantically drove the Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intents contained within his true origin, suppressing the true intents that would weaken the effects of those two.

Lin Zheyu gasped for breath, his chest rising and falling as bead-sized drops of sweat slid down from his forehead.

No, the difficulty is too great. My line of thinking was wrong. Trying to trigger several specific effects from all of my true origin is impossible with my current spiritual will and control. But if it is only a small portion, that should still be manageable.

He extended his right hand, and an egg-sized sphere of true origin energy slowly condensed into shape. Within the hazy gray sphere of true origin energy, mottled colors gradually began to appear. Soon, the mixed colors grew fewer and more unified. Before long, only three main colors remained inside the energy sphere: white, red, and gold. The temperature of the true origin steadily rose, releasing a scorching aura. Faint arcs of lightning could vaguely be seen flickering around the outside of the true origin sphere.

It worked. Lin Zheyu raised his brow slightly and slammed his right hand toward the nearby tree trunk. With a loud boom, the energy sphere sank into the trunk and blasted out an egg-sized crater. The spot looked as if it had been scorched by intense flames. With a sharp hiss, flames suddenly erupted from the crater and spread across the entire tree.

This is the true reason why true strength is fundamentally stronger than blood qi. And compared to true strength, my true origin is far more powerful than ordinary true strength.

Lin Zheyu looked at the burning tree trunk, unable to suppress the excitement rising in his heart.

When martial cultivation reached profound levels, it increasingly approached the Immortal Dao. The true origin energy sphere he had just formed already resembled the rudimentary form of a fireball spell.

”Fireball.” Lin Zheyu suddenly spoke as he flicked his right hand. A scorching true origin sphere rapidly condensed in his palm and drifted toward a nearby tree trunk.

With a loud explosion, the true origin sphere burst apart, and the entire tree ignited with a sharp hiss.

”True origin is fundamentally different from the spirit power used by immortal cultivators. Using it like this is far too wasteful. Not only does it consume a huge amount of true origin, but it also drains the spirit significantly. And after throwing it about five meters, the true origin lost control and began rapidly dissipating...” Lin Zheyu murmured softly as he reflected on the sensation.

The true strength of martial artists was not suited for long-range attacks. The best method of combat was to rely on a powerful physique and engage in close combat.

”Next, I will test whether true origin in this state has stronger or weaker resistance against the erosion of Baleful Yin force.”

With a thought from Lin Zheyu, the hazy gray true origin shield appeared around his body once again.

Soon, the true origin shield underwent a transformation. It shifted from gray to a mixture of colors, then finally stabilized into three layers of true origin energy. It was red at the innermost layer, gold at the middle layer, and white at the outer layer. It resembled a blazing flame, pulsing and burning with intense heat.

Lin Zheyu had not yet grown accustomed to transforming his true origin energy. Each time he used it, the transformation required nearly a full minute to stabilize.

This ability was completely unusable in combat. Only when he could transform it at will and reduce the time required to within 0.1 seconds would it be suitable for battle.

Once the true origin shield outside his body finished transforming, a scorching aura radiated from it. Dense Baleful Yin force still rushed toward his energy shield like moths to flame. This was the natural reaction when two energies of completely different natures encountered each other.

The faint sizzling sound became more distinct, and faint wisps of black smoke rose outside the true origin shield.

It works. My line of thinking was correct. True strength condensed primarily from Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intents has a strong restraining effect against Baleful Yin force. However, martial artists do not deeply comprehend the Dao principles when condensing true intent, and the nature of true strength itself is not sufficiently powerful, so the effect is not very obvious. But I am different. The true origin I condensed surpasses ordinary true strength in both nature and intensity, amplifying the effects brought by Thunder, Fire, and Pure Yang true intent. That is why it can produce such powerful results, Lin Zheyu thought excitedly.

According to his perception, once he suppressed the effects of some unnecessary true intents, the restraining effect of the true origin against Baleful Yin force increased dramatically. Previously, the erosive interaction between the true origin and the Baleful Yin force offset each other at roughly a 56:1 ratio. Now that ratio had risen to around 108:1, nearly tripling.

Once I recover, I will try using 2 or 3 units of Origin Force to improve the transformation control of true origin and reduce the time to within 0.1 seconds. Then it will be usable in battle.

Origin Force was extremely powerful. It could not only enhance existing martial cultivation techniques but also create new ones based on one’s own ideas. As long as the technique was feasible, it would appear within the data of consciousness. In this way, Lin Zheyu could rely on the techniques he created to improve his control over true origin and its transformation.

Boom!

Terrifying collision sounds came from the distant sky. Even from far away, Lin Zheyu could sense the astonishing energy fluctuations. There was also a terrifying pressure like heavenly might that left no room for resistance.

”The experts of Great Wei have begun fighting those members of the evil sects. How terrifying. That must be the space-time node that opened this time. I should leave quickly and find a safe place to hide first. A battle at this level is not something I can participate in.”

Lin Zheyu decided immediately.

With a light tap of his toes, hazy gray true origin surged forth. Lin Zheyu’s figure vanished from the spot like lightning. True origin energy enveloped his entire body. The true strength energy containing Wind true intent and Swift Speed true intent possessed a powerful ability to break through wind resistance. Lin Zheyu’s speed continued to climb. After surpassing the speed of sound and clearing the sonic barrier, his speed continued to rise steadily and rapidly.

Only when it approached nearly four times the speed of sound did Lin Zheyu begin to feel his limit. If he could freely transform the special effects of true origin and push the speed-enhancing true intents, such as Wind true intent and Swift Speed true intent, to their limits, his maximum speed could rise even further. However, he could not yet transform them at will. His true origin came in intermittent bursts and could not be used continuously.

Bang!

Suddenly, Lin Zheyu lost focus for a moment and slammed directly into a large tree ahead. The thick trunk was struck at over three times the speed of sound and instantly shattered into fragments. Lin Zheyu himself was thrown backward, crashing through several more trees before finally stopping.

”Hiss. That hurts like hell. I moved so fast that I couldn’t react.”

Lin Zheyu dusted off the dirt on his body, his face twitching slightly. It had been a long time since he had experienced speed exceeding his own neural reaction time. The last time seemed to be when he first condensed golden blood qi and used it to power his movement, causing his speed to soar. Now he experienced that sensation once again.

This feeling... is truly exhilarating!

”Fortunately, my skin is thick and my flesh tough. I only feel pain all over, but my skin was not even broken. If it were another Force Transformation realm martial artist crashing into a tree at such terrifying speed, even an ordinary tree would likely leave them severely injured,” Lin Zheyu muttered softly.

Roar!

The huge commotion attracted all the demon puppets nearby, though they were all below the Grandmaster realm. There was not even a single true yao or demon among them.

A streak of purple blade light flashed like lightning. Dozens of roaring, ferocious heads shot into the air in an instant. The headless bodies of the demon puppets continued charging forward for twenty or thirty meters before collapsing to the ground.

The disturbance is too big. Hopefully, that ill-intentioned fellow has not followed me, but I might attract the attention of other experts first.

Advancing to the Force Transformation realm and condensing true origin had caused Lin Zheyu’s strength to leap forward dramatically, leaving him momentarily intoxicated by his own power. However, he quickly came to his senses.

Lin Zheyu fully activated the Tortoise Breath True Technique, the Evernight Slumber Secret Art, and his concealment techniques. The aura around him began to drop rapidly. Yet his true origin was far too powerful, far surpassing that of other martial artists.

Lin Zheyu discovered that the concealment techniques he cultivated were greatly weakened when applied to the true origin. Even after he completely stopped circulating the true origin within his body and combined it with multiple powerful concealment techniques, a faint but powerful aura still leaked from him.

Before returning to the sect, I need to visit the black market and find several powerful concealment techniques suitable for the Force Transformation realm. Then I can combine those techniques with my knowledge of martial cultivation and create a concealment technique suited to true origin.

He did not want to leave the Wuji Sect and wander outside alone. The vast collection of martial cultivation techniques, records of powerful experts, and research manuals left behind by predecessors within the Wuji Sect were all extremely valuable treasures. They would provide tremendous help for his future martial cultivation path.

When he first joined the Wuji Sect, it was partly luck. Elder Yang and Huang Baizhong had been open-minded and did not investigate his background too deeply. That allowed him to be exceptionally admitted as a true disciple. If he left the Wuji Sect, it would not be so easy for Lin Zheyu to join another top martial cultivation sect.

That was only one reason. Another was that Lin Zheyu had developed genuine feelings for the senior and junior brothers, as well as the elders, of Azure Tide Pavilion. He was not very familiar with the main sect or its other branches, and his attachment to it was shallow. But Azure Tide Pavilion felt like home to him. The atmosphere there was excellent, and he truly enjoyed the calm, simple life of cultivation.

Bang.

Lin Zheyu tapped his toes and disappeared from the spot. This time, his speed was much slower. He did not use true origin or blood qi. He traveled solely on the strength of his physique.
