Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 973: Resonance Points

Nicholas went ahead to explain the points that he had granted. To summarize, in the last round, the aptitude test was basically an accumulation of Resonance Points.

There were many methods to gain the Resonance Points, but the ultimate goal was to meet a certain threshold.

Failure to meet a certain threshold meant one was ineligible to enter the Hall of Resonance and would thus be eliminated from the trial.

”Anyway, one needed to acquire at least 200 Resonance Points to become eligible,” Nicholas explained.

With that being said, the fact that CarnageBound already received 50 points ahead of everyone made the others feel pressured.

CarnageBound was grinning from ear to ear when he realized he was destined to become first again. His eyes subtly shifted to Xu Feng. ʼHmph, want to keep defending your honorary elder? Sooner or later, Iʼll have my men enter your plane and wreak havoc.ʼ

As if feeling the subtle gaze, Xu Feng turned to CarnageBound and smirked.

Did you really think youʼre the only one capable of earning advanced points?

What a good joke!

”Elder Nicholas, may I know if I can receive advanced points as well?” Xu Feng stepped forward, cupped his fist, and asked calmly.

The crowd was dumbfounded by his sudden action.

Even Floral Witchʼs eyes widened in disbelief. ʼIs he trying to mimic CarnageBound out of anger?ʼ

She refused to believe Xu Feng had the Resonance Token. Otherwise, he would have retrieved it from the start like CarnageBound.

Meanwhile, Nicholas shifted his gaze and landed on Xu Feng. His expression remained the same, but one could easily detect a sense of coldness.

But after a while, Nicholasʼs hand started to twitch.

”T-This is…” Alarmed, Nicholas vanished from his position and appeared in front of Xu Feng.

”Itʼs precisely that, Elder Nicholas.” Xu Feng suddenly said. He knew the elder must have detected his name being recorded on the Honor of Glory.

This was also the reason why Xu Feng knew he had this in the bag.

Sure enough, Nicholasʼ eyes lit up, and he laughed heartily.

”Good, good, good.” He exclaimed the word three times. ”This kind of aptitude is exactly what we need.”

”Elder Nicholas is too happy. My companion here is also one of them.” Using the momentum, Xu Feng grabbed a hold of Carmen and pulled her closer to him.

Nicholasʼs expression brightened even further when he detected that Carmen was the same.

”Hahaha, this is a joyous occasion.” He was extremely satisfied and pleased with the current trial contenders. ”The two of you are eligible already. If it werenʼt for the limitation, I would truly wish to give you more than 200 points. I hope the two can forgive me.”

”Elder Nicholas is too courteous. Itʼs our juniorsʼ honor to meet the elder here.” Xu Feng was very humble and made sure to identify himself as a junior. He then nudged Carmenʼs arm slightly when he noticed her in a daze.

”Yes, itʼs this juniorʼs honor to be graceful in the presence of Elder Nicholas. How could we dare to complain about you?” Carmen bowed her head and said politely. She was quick on the uptake and realized this must have been related to the previous dungeon that they had completed.

After all, the Honor of Glory reward was still vivid in her memories.

Nicholas was very pleased with the juniorʼs demeanor and nodded.

”Alright, this elder could still assist you in another way. Consider it my gift.” He waved his hand, and soon, multiple Resonance Shards appeared.

”These Resonance Shards were gathered from the eliminated candidates. I have no need for them, but Iʼm sure they would meet their usefulness in your possession.”

”Thank you, Elder Nicholas.” Xu Feng didnʼt feign any humbleness and directly bowed at a 90-degree angle. Upon seeing him behave like that, Carmen also quickly followed suit and did the same.

Only the others in the crowd were dumbfounded by the situation.

”How is this possible?”

”I thought CarnageBound was shrewd enough and gained 50 advanced points. But what about this?”

CarnageBound himself seemed to have been frozen in place. His mouth continued to twitch repeatedly, clearly in utter astonishment and bewilderment.

ʼWhat the fuck is going on?ʼ He screamed internally. Nobody would know the situation more than him in this room. After all, he had been informed by Elder Irvin of the Resonance Tokenʼs significance.

ʼHah, so the ultimate oriole is indeed him.ʼ Floral Witch was at a loss for words. The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. This phrase was being perfectly displayed before her eyes.

She and the rest of the crowd were cicadas being stalked by the mantis, which were the Malefic Order Guild.

The Malefic Order Guild managed to pull a fast one on them, but who could have imagined? Before CarnageBound could enjoy its feast on the cicada, it ended up being face slapped and killed by the oriole, aka Xu Feng.

This kind of face slapping was very loud and resounding!

CarnageBound thought he was slick and got 50 advanced points, but Xu Feng not only received the full 200 points to become eligible, but he even managed to gain all the Resonance Shards gathered by the previously eliminated players in the third round.

How could he not be frustrated and enraged by the situation?

”Boss, itʼs a good thing we managed to mend the relationship slightly with Lin Feng,” Azalea whispered softly to Floral Witch.

Floral Witch nodded her head in agreement. ”I reckon this incident is going to spread once the trial is over. This CarnageBound is going to become a laughing stock and be reprimanded harshly later to appease us.”

At this moment, almost everyone believed CarnageBound wished to have kept his mouth shut and redo the whole scene. Not only did he fail to reap any great reward, but he ended up being a clown and a scumbag who purposely withheld valuable information.

The Malefic Order Guild would definitely sacrifice him to ensure the other Super Guilds would let the matter go.
