Holding Their Own Space, the Family Returns to the Apocalypse

188: Falling into the abyssAi Yue was startled. Looking at that giant claw, she was deeply worried about her family’s safety.

She threw a Healing Superpower directly at Gong Qiuqiu beside her, ignored him, and ran toward Nameless Mountain at Extreme Speed.

Feeling his body recover instantly, Gong Qiuqiu didn’t have time for surprise. No longer hiding his abilities, he also used Extreme Speed to follow closely behind Ai Yue.

With a loud ’Boom!’, another giant claw emerged from the deep pit.

The two giant claws paused in the air for a moment, then swung violently, sweeping away the ruins of Nameless Mountain around them.

Ai Yue and Gong Qiuqiu, who were rapidly approaching, constantly dodged the giant rocks falling from the sky.

The unknown creature’s movements didn’t stop. It pressed its palms against the ground and exerted sudden force, revealing a hideous monster’s head.

The monster, having revealed its head, let out a long howl toward the sky. The deafening roar deafened their ears and caused their heads to buzz.

Ai Yue and Gong Qiuqiu were forced to stop. They covered their ears with their hands and crouched on the ground in pain, blood flowing from all their facial features.

They completely lost their ability to move and their perception of the outside world.

At that moment, the monster continued to exert force. With a great surge of strength, the earth began to crack rapidly in all directions, centered around the monster.

Ai Yue tried hard to see and hear her surroundings, but it was all in vain. She couldn’t even feel the earth vibrating beneath her.

Seeing the fissure about to reach their feet, the two of them remained completely unaware.

In this desperate situation, Ai Yue’s mind was in chaos, but her subconscious felt she needed to enter her space as soon as possible. However, when she instinctively tried to concentrate her thoughts to return to the space, she simply couldn’t; she couldn’t even form that simple thought.

Gong Qiuqiu’s situation was the same as Ai Yue’s. He couldn’t perceive his surroundings, but a strong sense of danger was constantly warning him within.

By then, the crack had reached their feet. Without any warning, the two fell into the fissure, instinctively reaching out to grab onto anything.

Ai Yue and Gong Qiuqiu grabbed each other at the same time, holding on for dear life, regardless of everything else.

Gong Qiuqiu exerted force and pulled hard, causing Ai Yue to crash into his arms.

Instinctively, Ai Yue clung to Gong Qiuqiu tightly like an octopus.

Gong Qiuqiu also held her tight, and they instantly fell into the darkness, vanishing without a trace.

The unknown creature was still struggling to emerge. The impact was felt for dozens of miles around, causing damage more severe than a super earthquake.

After half an hour, the super-large unknown creature finally crawled out from underground, revealing its full form.

Half of this terrifying monster’s head was rotted away, with rotten meat hanging from its face, emitting bursts of foul stench.

The fangs in its mouth and its claws shimmered with sharp light. Its entire body was massive; if a person stood before it, they would look like an ant. It was full of overwhelming pressure.

Four large, round eyes grew on top of its head, emitting a cold, eerie light as it looked upon the world with indifference.

By now, its surroundings had long been leveled to the ground.

The beautiful Nameless Mountain was gone, and the people on the mountain had also vanished.

The terrifying monster roared repeatedly, as if announcing its arrival to the world. Its roar was like a thunderclap, clearly audible from over ten miles away.

With every step it took, the earth trembled. It slowly walked into the distance. It was unknown how much time passed before the area regained its calm.

Ai Yue and Gong Qiuqiu had disappeared, and Ai Guosheng and the others were also gone. As for the people at the Construction Base Sub-section, they were all buried under the ruins; not a single person survived.

Meanwhile, Gu Xiheng and the others were still preparing for the engagement ceremony. Cheng Siyu had put away Gu Xiheng’s satellite phone and didn’t intend to tell him about the matter. However, Madam Gu, after thinking it over, felt it was better to tell Gu Yan, who was busy with official business, about Ai Yue’s call.

After hearing Madam Gu’s account, Gu Yan’s expression became solemn, and he immediately summoned Gu Xiheng, who was preparing for the engagement ceremony.

At the engagement venue, Gu Xiheng, who was feeling extremely uncomfortable, felt an involuntary sigh of relief when he heard Gu Yan was looking for him. Just as he was about to leave, he was pulled back by Cheng Siyu. ’Xiheng, where are you going? The ceremony is about to start.’

’My father is looking for me; I’m afraid it’s something urgent,’ Gu Xiheng said, brushing off her hand.

Seeing him about to leave, Cheng Siyu pulled him again and said hurriedly, ’But it starts in three minutes. Can’t we go after we’re finished? It’s understandable that Uncle didn’t come because he’s busy with government affairs, but Auntie Gu just left too. If you leave as well, I...’

’Alright, Siyu. We’ll continue when I get back. It’s the Apocalypse now; everything should be kept simple.’ After saying that, Gu Xiheng shook off Cheng Siyu’s hand and strode away.

’Xiheng!’ Cheng Siyu bit her lip and shouted unwillingly. ’Do you want me to become the laughingstock of the entire base? People in the base are already saying I used schemes but still couldn’t marry you. If you leave now, won’t you be confirming those rumors?’

Gu Xiheng turned back and said coldly, ’What nonsense are you talking about? Stop it. I’ll go see what the situation is first.’

Gu Xiheng ignored her and hurried to Gu Yan’s office.

’Dad, what’s the matter? Mom? Why are you here too?’ Gu Xiheng, who arrived in a hurry, looked at Madam Gu with some surprise. Madam Gu never came here unless there was something special. Seeing her here unexpectedly surprised him a little.

Gu Yan waved his hand at him and said, ’Don’t say so much. Your mother just said Ai Yue called, saying a disaster is about to happen at Nameless Mountain and told us to evacuate everyone from there. What do you think Ai Yue’s purpose is in doing this?’

Gu Xiheng’s pupils constricted, and he immediately said, ’Dad, listen to Ai Yue and evacuate the people immediately.’

’You trust her that much? Don’t forget what day it is for you today. Maybe she’s deliberately tricking you so you can’t get engaged!’ Madam Gu said with a face full of disapproval.

Gu Xiheng felt bitter in his heart. He would be very willing if this were a lie Ai Yue told for his sake, but he knew in his heart that with Ai Yue’s character, she wouldn’t deign to do such a thing.

’Dad, Mom, I believe Ai Yue would never make something out of nothing. I’m afraid this is true!’ Gu Xiheng said with a determined look in his eyes.

Seeing Gu Xiheng’s confident appearance and fearing losses for his people, Gu Yan immediately called to issue an order for everyone to temporarily evacuate from Nameless Mountain.

The call was made, but no one answered, only a series of busy tones.

Gu Yan’s heart skipped a beat. If nothing were wrong, his people wouldn’t fail to answer his call.

Since no one answered, it meant something must have happened on that end.

Gu Xiheng grabbed the phone and called Ai Yue, only to find he couldn’t get through at all.

Gu Xiheng and Gu Yan looked at each other. ’Dad, something must have happened.’

’Quickly send someone to investigate,’ Gu Yan said with a grave expression.

’No need. I’ll take people and go check it out myself.’
