Bringing the Nation's Husband Home

”Yea,” Qiao Anhao replied before explaining, ”I went to make a new Identification card in the afternoon, so I forgot to call.”

”Yea,” Lu Jinnian mimicked her. After a while, he spoke again, ”It’s late now, sleep early. A girl shouldn’t go to sleep so late.”

Even though it was a relatively normal sentence, Qiao Anhao could detect a trace of concern. After hanging up, she was more sure that Lu Jinnian indeed liked her, and so she thought for a whole night before deciding to write him a love letter.

At that time, she decided to first finish writing her letter. The next time she visited Hangzhou and they had a meal together, she would secretly throw it in his coat when he went to the toilet.

That love letter used up almost all of her brain cells. After one whole week, she finished an 800 word letter.

Since it was so long ago, she couldn’t remember the content of it, but she remembered that it was tender, sensational, and she had even added the lyrics of Jay Chou’s ’The Secret That Cannot Be Told’,

”Rainy days aren’t the most beautiful,

It’s the house we hid to shelter from the rain that is...”

Oh, and she had added eleven words that still remain forever engraved in her mind. They were the ending of her love letter, the line she had thought of after many hours: For the rest of my life, I will only love you.

Initially, she had thought of ”For the rest of my life, I will love you the most”, but she was worried that Lu Jinnian would misunderstand, thinking that she would love someone else as well, hence she changed the ”most” to ”only”. After she had changed it, she had even gotten Xu Jiamu to check it to ensure that the letter was emotional.

After obtaining Xu Jiamu’s approval, she went to the korean stationary shop in Wu Dao street to buy a pretty envelope and paper. The paper was pink and filled with red peaches, while the envelope was baby blue with a red peach in the middle. She had gone to school with a pen to copy the draft she had written before spraying it with a drop of her perfume.

At that time, she was dreaming of how wonderful it would be, but she couldn’t send her letter out since the next time she went to Hangzhou, Lu Jinnian had refused to see her.

She could clearly feel that Lu Jinnian had feelings for her and the last time they met, he had even given her all his money so she could be safe. How then could he grow apart from her just like that?
