I Can Fish Up Everything!

When he saw the final collection task was successfully completed, he didn’t even bother to continue fishing. He rushed back into the cabin, piloted the fishing boat to a shallow area with decent resources, chummed the water with fish guts, and only then returned to the cabin to open his treasure chests.

He still had one Sea Product Selection Card left. This thing was quite valuable, and Gu Nan felt it wasn’t cost-effective to use it on Dogtooth Fish, so he had been saving it.

He was thinking he could use it later when he unlocked other sea regions, perhaps if bluefin tuna appeared.

Or maybe he could try to get a particularly expensive ornamental fish.

Some especially rare ornamental fish were no less valuable than bluefin tuna, and it wouldn’t be strange at all for them to sell for over a million.

Gu Nan had taken some time to look into it a while back, but unfortunately, they were extremely hard to find, with an encounter rate who-knows-how-much lower than that of bluefin tuna.

Gu Nan had been saving up the gold keys he’d acquired recently without opening any chests. He had exactly ten, so he went straight for a ten-draw.

Sea Product Selection Card (Reality) x3, Sea Product Selection Card x1, Special Fishing Ground Card x2, Trial Card x4.

When he saw that he had gotten three of the Sea Product Selection Card (Reality) version, a look of pleasant surprise immediately appeared on Gu Nan’s face.

If Yellowlip Fish weren’t a protected species, he would have just gotten three of them.

After that, Gu Nan didn’t waste any time and went straight into the Trial Tower to get a fishing rod.

「One hour later…」

Gu Nan walked out of the cabin holding a golden fishing rod, a delighted look on his face.

Challenging the trials one difficulty level at a time was easy, and after winning, he also got to keep the opponent’s catch.

The challenge for the purple fishing rod was to catch Greenland halibut. Unfortunately, they weren’t the kind of deep-sea behemoths that could grow to five meters long.

The challenge for the golden fishing rod was to catch blue Emperor Crabs in a contest to see who could catch more.

After winning both times, Gu Nan had obtained eighty-three halibut and one hundred seventy-two Emperor Crabs, each weighing between five and eleven pounds.

He even regretted wasting a Trial Card earlier. The card could basically be considered a Special Fishing Ground Card, mainly for stocking up on his own inventory.

‘And unlike the Fishing Ground Card, the Trial Tower is even kind enough to arrange an NPC to help. How nice.’

Gu Nan’s Spirit was currently at full. It was clearly going to be another all-nighter; he wasn’t planning on sleeping.

He definitely had to test out the new fishing rod’s effectiveness.

He walked over to the bucket of fish guts, and an acrid, fishy stench immediately rushed to his head. It was extremely overpowering.

Gu Nan quickly changed his position. ‘Good lord.’ He hadn’t noticed before, but the sea breeze had been blowing the smell of the fish guts right into his nostrils. It had almost been enough to knock him out.

The sour stench of old sardines was strong, but he could tolerate it. These guts, however, were something else entirely.

The chum he had laid out earlier must have attracted a lot of fish by now, but after more than an hour, the guts had probably been mostly eaten.

So Gu Nan moved to the other side of the boat, where the sea breeze hit him first, so the stench wasn’t as strong.

He scooped up two ladlefuls to replenish the chum spot, then started fishing.

He had originally planned to use his two electric reels at night to use up his daily attempts, but the new fishing rod made him change his mind.

‘It’s not too late to use the daily attempts tomorrow. Today, I want to catch a batch of fish from the Bering Sea to add some new stock to the shop.’

Perhaps because the chum was so effective, he only had to wait about twenty seconds after his baited hook went down before there was a bite.

SWISH~

Gu Nan raised his rod in time to set the hook. The rod bent noticeably as he felt a fairly strong pull. Clearly, the first fish wasn’t small. Judging by the force, it had to be around ten or eleven pounds.

‘The fish is big, I just hope it’s a species I can import and that the price isn’t too low.’

The current fishing map had all sea products available, but most of them couldn’t be imported. If he caught those, he could only sell them for Gold Coins.

Gu Nan currently had almost 130,000 Gold Coins, but he was still very short on them.

Now, hooks and lines had become consumables that he replaced more frequently than before. On top of that, the fishing rods from the first two maps occasionally needed to be taken in for repairs, all of which cost Gold Coins.

But most importantly, he would have to spend Gold Coins to buy golden keys in the future—10,000 Gold Coins each, which was crazy expensive.

‘I still have two Trial Cards left. I’ll fish for some Bering Sea products first. If I don’t get much new stock, I’ll have to get ready to obtain the next fishing rod.’

A fish of around eleven pounds was nothing to him. He quickly turned the handle of the reel, fought it for a moment, and once the fish’s stamina was drained, he swiftly pulled it out of the water.

But when he saw what the fish was, Gu Nan was stunned. ‘It’s actually a Chinook salmon?’

‘My luck is pretty good! I only entered that one fishing ground in New Zealand once by coincidence. Chinook salmon sells really well in the shop, but it’s a valuable product that’s hard to get. Now I finally have a way to source it.’

He sent the fish to the Fresh-Chilled Hall. The Fresh-Chilled Hall automatically began to process the Chinook salmon, bleeding it before gutting and washing it clean.

By the time the Chinook salmon was processed, Gu Nan’s second cast had a fish on the line right on cue.

The pull from this one was just a little bit stronger than the Chinook salmon from before.

Gu Nan raised his rod, reeled in the line, and after a few more tugs, this fish was also pulled up with ease.

‘Another Chinook salmon. These fish swim in schools. Looks like I’m going to be tangling with them all day.’

After Gu Nan caught two more Chinook salmon, he knew what was happening. He had clearly run into a school of them.

He quickly switched to the electric reel gifted by the game, using it along with the two electric rods on the side, and entered procurement mode.

With a single rod, his manual fishing speed would be faster than an electric reel’s. But having found a school of Chinook salmon, it was obviously much easier to use the electric reels.

‘I can also use up my daily attempts. Killing two birds with one stone.’
