The 99th Divorce

”Don’t come close, or I will kill her!” He changed his voice deliberately, but Su Qianci still felt he was someone familiar. She must have heard his voice somewhere. But she did not say anything. The fact that she might know him did not reduce her fear. With the blade against her neck, she was taken away from the crowd to a dark road.

The police and Li Sicheng were about 300 feet from them. Suddenly, she saw headlights and heard engine rumbling. It was a sportscar. Everyone’s eyes were caught. She clearly felt the criminal’s muscles had relaxed. The sports car pulled over. Su Qianci heard the door being opened and then a female voice saying, ”get in the car.”

Familiar! Su Qianci could not think of who it was before the criminal released her and got in the car. The car was gorgeous with spray-painted graffiti looking like totems. Was the car designed to disturb the police’s vision? She gazed at the license plate and found it was covered. The police ran as fast as they could, but they were no match for the sports car.

”He ran away again!” The policewoman yelled.

Li Sicheng immediately came up to check on Su Qianci. Holding her face, he whispered, ”Are you okay?”

Feeling his hands were shaking, she took his hand and hugged him. ”I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Li Sicheng let out a sigh of relief and then chuckled. Now she was reassuring him. He picked her up and walked toward the car. Li Jinnan had driven the car over, ready to chase the criminal’s car for Su Qianci. Seeing Li Sicheng carrying her over, he let out a sigh of relief and unlocked the car.

Li Sicheng put Su Qianci inside carefully and asked, ”Are you hurt?”

”No, but…” Su Qianci paused for a minute before she said, ”I think their voices are familiar. Both the man and the woman. I must have heard them talking somewhere.”

Li Sicheng had a sharp look. ”Someone you know?”

”Not necessarily, but I have definitely heard their voices before. That’s why I felt a bit reassured when the guy said not harm me.”

”Impressive.” Li Jinnan gave Su Qianci a thumbs-up. ”You know who they are?”

”No idea.”

Li Sicheng got in the car and closed the door. ”No matter who they are, try to avoid them. Both smuggling and selling drugs are felonies.”

”Got it.” Su Qianci lay in his arms and closed her eyes. ”I’m so tired. Let me sleep for a while.”

Li Sicheng straightened his back for her to lay on his lap. Caressing her hair, he suddenly became relaxed. At the same time, he thought of the terrible possibilities that could have happened to her. Luckily, she was fine. He would never, never take her to such places again.
