Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 233: Chapter 113: Professor and Student [Two-in-One]

In the first month of the school year, magic pets created a new trend at Hogwarts and quickly replaced all past popular things.

Even Quidditch and Maze games couldn’t match people’s love for magic pets—of course, due to weather reasons, these two activities were already in a semi-halted state.

Originally, because of Peter Pettigrew disguising himself as a rat, many students had to send their pets home. While this certainly brought peace of mind, it also brought loneliness.

The arrival of magic pets quickly filled this emotional void. For some kids, they are friends even closer than family and classmates.

Everywhere in the school, you can see students with exquisite and cute pets.

Most of them can be kept in pockets or backpacks, possess a certain level of intelligence, never disrupt class, and can even help students with small tasks.

For example, reminding them that class is about to start or helping to pass a quill while doing homework.

Although these small tasks aren’t really considered help by the students, watching tiny pets laboriously carry a too-long quill or being woken up by them in the morning is simply bursting with happiness.

Moreover, during times of sadness or quarrels with friends, magic pets thoughtfully comfort their owners—students generally don’t buy pets with bad personalities or those that like to insult.

Thus, these little creatures never discern right from wrong, always standing by their owners, laughing and crying together, even fighting other people’s pets for them.

And so, owners show off their pets just like proud parents bragging about their kids, and sometimes even break up friendships due to disagreements.

As Machioni predicted, students...including adult wizards, are keen on buying comfortable houses, furniture, clothes for their pets, some even have completely different outfits for each day.

Since magic pets do not violate school rules, the school does not prohibit students from bringing magic pets into the campus or classrooms.

In fact, except for Professor Snape who strictly forbids any thinking or moving objects apart from living beings in his classroom, other professors have a very tolerant attitude, and many are pet enthusiasts themselves.

Like Gilderoy Lockhart.

He spent an entire class bragging about his new pet—a pink bottlenose dolphin named Victoria.

This Victoria dolphin was a Christmas gift from a foreign fan also named Victoria to Lockhart. She spent a lot to have it custom-made at Aslan Magic Workshop.

This Victoria dolphin not only has a transparent pink and round body, big watery eyes, but also the ability to constantly praise Lockhart for several hours. Every word it utters is the overflowing love of fans for Lockhart.

Lockhart is exceedingly proud; in every subsequent class, he brings his beloved dolphin, allowing it to sing a praise poem written by a lady named Gladiola during breaks.

He even assigned students homework to seriously listen to Victoria’s praises of Professor Lockhart and write an essay of at least thirteen inches analyzing why Professor Lockhart is so great.

Students racked their brains to meet the word count, though the content was empty, Lockhart was extremely satisfied, loudly reciting his favorite essays in class, generously awarding Hermione twenty extra points.

The teaching experience at Hogwarts is extraordinarily pleasant, with only one thing troubling Professor Lockhart, who has a charming smile.

Every day he planned to have a photo taken with the inventor of magic pets, Vid, and to include it in his next book, the content of which Professor Lockhart has already envisioned—

[The young Vid Gray gazed at the wise Professor Lockhart with innocent eyes, thanking him for his support and encouragement during difficult times.

”Without a doubt, the invention of magic pets owes much to your help, Professor.”

Vid Gray sincerely said, ”Your talent and creativity are truly astounding. I only feel regret—that you used your great talent in writing, otherwise you would undoubtedly become a remarkable alchemist.”

I then smiled and told him:

”Do not feel regret for this, dear Vid. I admire those alchemists who propel societal progress, but children also need the encouragement of words. I know my writings will inspire them to pursue better versions of themselves.”

Vid’s eyes were filled with gratitude and emotion, with tears involuntarily flowing down. He passionately said, ”Professor Lockhart, you are the best professor I’ve ever met!”]

Lockhart looked at this text, contentedly put down his pen, and waved his magic wand to let the ink dry faster.

Now all that’s needed is a photo for proof.

He doesn’t worry that Vid will expose his lie because Lockhart knows Vid Gray is also a fan of his, answering his questionnaire beautifully—though, still not as flawlessly as Hermione Granger’s score.

And other professors all say that he is a student who loves learning and respects professors. For such bookworm-type good students, affirmation and encouragement from a professor will only make them happier, and they won’t regard a bit of ”literary adaptation” as a lie.
