Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 187: Chapter 77: A Token of Gratitude for Cedric

Vid suddenly realized his oversight.

Because a similar scene had occurred in the original plot, he didn’t see any problem at the time. But as he recalled it now, he sensed something unusual.

In the plot, this match was when Dobby used a Bludger to chase and injure Harry, breaking his arm.

As for the later fall, that was because Harry risked himself to catch the Golden Snitch while injured.

But during yesterday’s match, Dumbledore was sitting in the stands; would that House-Elf really dare to attack Harry?

It’s worth noting that even Quirrell, who was possessed by Voldemort at the time, didn’t dare harm Harry Potter under Dumbledore’s nose.

Hearing Vid’s question, Harry was taken aback for a moment, then thought and said, ”It seemed to be Delian.”

The members of the Slytherin team were unfamiliar to Vid. He pondered for a moment before asking, ”That Chaser? I remember he’s quite tall. You said... it seemed?”

”He was a little behind me on my right,” Harry explained. ”I saw his magic wand move, then I felt dizzy, like being hit with a baseball bat. I lost consciousness for a few seconds and fell off the broom...”

He paused and said, ”But I’m not sure if the spell came from Delian’s wand.”

Vid nodded slightly.

Some spells are beams of very bright colors, but most spells are actually invisible to the naked eye. If one murmurs spells inconspicuously, then only the caster knows they’ve used a spell.

The Priori Incantatem could certainly be used, but checking a magic wand with it is a rather offensive act for most wizards, like a Muggle being frisked by the police.

A ”student conflict” in the field hasn’t reached the point where professors inspect everyone’s wand in detail.

After the match ended, a couple of Gryffindor players were injured, and the Slytherin team lost quite a bit of house points, and the students involved were given detention.

In any case, the Slytherin team was stronger than Gryffindor, plus they were unscrupulous on the field, and their brooms were the latest Nimbus 2001, so they widened the gap with Gryffindor soon after the match started.

But after Harry caught the Golden Snitch, Gryffindor instantly gained 150 points, turning Slytherin’s victory into a pipe dream.

If one says that the members of the Slytherin team would resent Harry Potter because of this and attack him secretly, it does make some sense.

Vid thought: Could I really be overthinking it?

However... if they wanted revenge, why didn’t they strike from the start? Did their impulse only burst out after being bottled up for a while?

Harry saw Vid deep in thought again, seemingly with many ideas, so he didn’t dare to interrupt and went to invite Michael and others instead.

He had high hopes for the Christmas holiday gathering this time, wanting to invite all his friends and have the time instantly jump to holiday.

...

When the spectators were leaving the venue, Theo spotted Vid at a glance, came over, and asked:

”Vid, why are you sitting here alone?”

”Ah... Theo, I was just thinking of looking for you—”

Vid looked at the field, saw that the Ravenclaw players had already left, but Cedric was still standing on the field.

Many girls were around him; he smiled helplessly and bowed his head slightly, talking to them.

Vid took a scroll out of his backpack.

”I’ve finished the timeline comparison between Magic History and Muggle History, and all the key points are marked. If you need it, make a copy... This copy is for Cedric Diggory.”

”Finished?”

Theo was first surprised, then happy for him. After taking the scroll, he unfolded it and was immediately drawn by the detailed and clear notes, intuitive tree diagrams and tables, and clean and orderly layout.

He knew Vid had been organizing this for a long time. After finishing the ”Magic History”, he made a comparative axis of Muggle History at Hermione’s suggestion.

After completing the second edition, Vid also gathered past OWLs exam questions through some of his friends, mainly Machioni, and added them to the mix, making it easier to remember the knowledge points.

The Magic History course at Hogwarts, from first year to fifth, uses the same set of books. Other historical books are reference books, often borrowed by students for writing essays.

In the scroll, Vid also noted some content cited from other books, even marking the sources.

A mere glance reveals how much time and effort he put into this scroll; just looking at it is a pleasure.

Despite the scroll being made of ordinary parchment, the recorded knowledge is an exceedingly precious resource.

Theo thought that mastering the contents of this scroll could easily lead him to an ”Outstanding” in the OWLs Magic History exam, and continuing to study Magic History in sixth or seventh year wouldn’t be too difficult.

”Isn’t this... too precious?”

Seeing such a professional reference book for the first time, Theo was a bit reluctant to let Vid give it away: ”Will you really just give it away like this?”

Vid said earnestly, ”In first year, we often asked Cedric to help us buy things, causing him a lot of trouble, so I’ve been thinking of ways to repay him.”

”Simply buying a gift doesn’t quite match what Cedric spent in terms of time and effort. Once I finished the Magic History notes, I thought this would be a suitable return.”

”He’s going to take the OWLs exam next year, right? I know he scores well, but these notes should help him with his revision a bit.”

When he first started organizing the notes, Vid even thought of cooperating with the Weasley Twins to make money by selling the notes.

To students, a good reference book never goes out of fashion. And due to Professor Bin’s unique teaching style, the pass rate in the Magic History subject of OWLs at Hogwarts is always low.

Fortunately, except for a few professions, most jobs place no requirement on a student’s Magic History grades.

Later, thanks to Professor Morry’s help, Vid quickly achieved financial independence in the Magic World. Without the need for money, he abandoned the idea of selling notes and preferred to use them to assist his friends instead.

Just as Professor Morry selflessly helped him.

Theo was silent for a moment, then smiled: ”How can it be just a bit? It will definitely be a great help. Once we get back to the common room, I’ll give the notes to him.”

”Alright.”

Vid stood up and was also ready to return to the castle when an owl suddenly flapped its wings and landed beside him.

The brown owl lowered its head slightly, holding a rolled-up note in its beak.

Since the Friendship Book became popular, few people still use owls to send such simple letters.

Vid unrolled the note and saw a line of slender writing.

”Dear Vid:

If it’s convenient for you, please come to the Headmaster’s Office at 8 p.m. today, after dinner. I hope it won’t disturb you and your friends’ gathering.

PS: Recently, I’ve taken a liking to cream puffs, although Madam Pomfrey doesn’t think they are good for my teeth.

Yours faithfully,

Albus Dumbledore.”
