Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 144: Chapter 37: Luna

——So it really is related to personality!

A few students thought to themselves in unison, feeling like they had a newfound understanding of their house head.

...

After Professor McGonagall, Professor Sprout also added some things to the game field.

For example, bean-spitting pods, half-human tall Whomping Willows, juvenile Devil’s Snares, and hallucinogenic mushrooms that look safe and even quite pretty...

Their harm is restricted within a very limited range, but they always cause the students a bit of trouble.

Additionally, House-Elves under the Headmaster’s instructions brought in many old tables, chairs, shelves, damaged stone sculptures, and more, arranging the game field like a maze.

As a result, the area of the venue more than doubled.

Not long after, a notice was posted on the bulletin board in the entrance hall—

”A duel club?” Michael said with interest, ”Is it taught by Professor Flitwick? He was a dueling champion when he was young!”

If one could learn a thing or two from Professor Flitwick, would it be possible to defeat Vid?

”I hope so.” Vid said, ”But I haven’t heard the Professor mention this.”

He had even gone to Professor Flitwick’s office yesterday to ask questions. If the Professor had this plan, he would at least hint at it... right?

Originally, this club was hosted by Lockhart.

Who knows if this time, Professor Flitwick might get some inspiration from the game field and decide to pass on his dueling experience to the students?

...

However, it turned out, that was not the case.

After dinner, it was still the radiant Gilderoy Lockhart appearing in the Great Hall.

Professor Snape stood to the side, his whole being enveloped in shadow.

The long tables in the Great Hall disappeared, replaced by a half-person tall stage.

Lockhart opened his arms on stage and said loudly, ”Welcome, children! I’m delighted to see nearly the entire school here; your enthusiasm for learning is very touching...”

Michael grumbled in disappointment, ”If he’s moved, can he give us back Professor Flitwick?”

After a month, except for a few girls with fangirl filters, almost everyone could see what kind of professor he was.

He was more of a drama teacher than a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

In every class, Lockhart was eager to have students perform scenes from his books and spent at least thirty minutes recounting his bravery and greatness.

But when it came to professional knowledge, he would always hem and haw, dodging the questions.

Michael was also pulled up to perform as a werewolf and a yeti, something he considered a lifelong shame.

”I just realized, Lockhart never asked you to perform his scripts?” Michael asked Vid, ”How did you manage that?”

”Masking Spell.” Vid whispered, ”If you want to learn, I’ll teach you next time.”

”No need to wait for next time, let’s head to the Umbrella House now. We can’t learn anything useful from Lockhart anyway.”

”Hold on a moment.” Vid raised his chin, gesturing to Snape: ”Professor Snape is also here... he wouldn’t appear here for no reason.”

As they spoke, Lockhart on the stage also pointed to the wizard in black robes.

”Professor Snape is our assistant, he has generously agreed to assist me with a small demonstration before the class... of course, don’t worry, I’ll return your professor of potions safe and sound to you!”

He said with a smug smile, and Snape was staring intently at his back.

The students suddenly became excited.

”Wow—”

Michael, who wanted to leave, immediately turned back, looking at Lockhart with schadenfreude.

”I’m beginning to admire this professor now... he really has guts, doesn’t he?”

Neville covered his mouth in horror: ”How could he dare?”

”He probably thinks... Professor Snape is just a frail technician, right?”

Vid guessed at Lockhart’s thoughts.

Snape always wore a large robe and walked like a large bat unfurling its wings, but he was actually very thin.

Ignoring that terrifying expression, he indeed might give off a frail appearance.

But magic ability doesn’t depend on muscles.

The two professors demonstrated the dueling process on stage: they faced each other, bowed (Snape barely nodded), and raised their wands.

Lockhart was still babbling, ”Observe my etiquette, children... your behavior in the escape-killing game was too rude, a true wizard’s duel is very elegant and fast.”

”We will count to three, and in just a moment, your professor of potions will lose the wand in his hand...”

”One... two... three...”

With a ”bang,” Lockhart flew out of the stage, hit the wall, and then slid to the ground, and his wand flew out.

Slytherin students cheered, Vid and Michael clapped along.

”Let’s go, there’s nothing else worth watching now.”

As Lockhart staggered to get up, Vid glanced at Harry not far away and said to Michael.

Now that there hasn’t been any ”Heir of Slytherin attacking students” incidents at the school, even if Harry accidentally exposed Parseltongue, he wouldn’t be seen as a public enemy of the school.

Of course, after so much training, Harry now wouldn’t only think of using Parseltongue to repel a snake in front of it.

The two squeezed through the crowd, encountering Theo and Leian halfway, and they joined them.

”Don’t listen to the nonsense Lockhart says.”

Vid told his companions, ”In real fights, no one’s stupid enough to bow to you; if you can ambush, ambush, if you can’t ambush, then dodge and protect yourself first.”

”Only when the gap is extremely wide is there room to focus on elegance and demeanor.”

Theo unexpectedly recalled the scene where Vid defeated the werewolf and dark wizard.

Before those two fell, Vid never exposed his intentions.

The same was true in the escape-killing game.

From the beginning, Vid wouldn’t foolishly stand face to face and then throw spells at each other.

And...he would win every time.

Theo contemplated.

...

The Umbrella House activity still ended at curfew.

Michael and the others each returned to their common rooms, while Vid came to the Room of Requirement.

He first went to the room where things were hidden and found that it was indeed much emptier here, most tables and cabinets from the game field probably came from here.

Then he switched to the room for brewing magical potions. In several cauldrons, potions were bubbling with little bubbles.

In Magic Potion Class, the potions they learned could generally be completed within a class period, some even in just ten minutes.

But advanced potions, often require long periods.

For example, Veritaserum, takes about a month; Polyjuice Potion also takes about a month; Felix Felicis takes six months.

Luckily, except for the necessary stages, cauldrons don’t need constant supervision; magic allows the flame to burn continuously and stably.

After checking all his potions and seeing the time, it was already late. Vid used the Summoning Charm to call his broom, flew through the corridor window, and landed directly on the rooftop of Ravenclaw Tower.

The Eagle-Shaped Door Ring asked softly, ”What is too much for two people, just right for one?”

”A secret.”

Vid answered.

The common room door opened. When he went in, he found surprisingly there was still someone in the common room.

A girl, curled up on the sofa in front of the fireplace in pajamas, fast asleep.

She was originally covered with a blanket, but now it had slipped off halfway, exposing her calves and bare feet.

Vid casually waved his wand, and the blanket flew up, covering the girl.

The action was very light, making no noise, but the girl was startled awake.

The golden-brown head moved a bit under the blanket, then she looked up in a daze.

The girl had a pale complexion, very light eyebrows, and rare silver eyes that seemed a little surprised.

Vid was planning to go back to his room, but his steps stopped.
