Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: The First Alchemy Work

Vid suddenly turned to look at Michael.

Michael looked at him strangely: ”—— Haven’t you ever thought about questioning him for this?”

Vid: ...

Indeed, he hadn’t.

The storyline he knew to some extent clouded his thinking—Vid knew from the very beginning that Voldemort was on the back of Quirrell’s head, and also knew that no one died that year. With a sense of superiority as a ”Transmigrator” and a ”Prophet,” he even had a game-like mentality. Discovering Voldemort’s secret was simply an accidental occurrence, and he didn’t blame others for it.

Under Michael’s gaze, he seriously went over the entire situation from the beginning, including his own thoughts, Dumbledore’s possible considerations, and the final outcomes for these people in the storyline.

He found that he still wouldn’t question or resent Dumbledore.

”Why?” Michael asked in puzzlement, ”He’s the headmaster, he should protect our safety.”

”Then what would I gain by questioning him?” Vid asked seriously, ”To see Dumbledore repent? Or to have him apologize to me? What’s the use of that? Would resenting Dumbledore keep us safe from danger in the future?”

Michael was speechless.

”It’s meaningless to dwell on things that have already happened, Michael.” Vid concluded at last, ”Yelling at the only one who can protect us, questioning him, resisting him—it’s all the more foolish. Only those who are favored can act recklessly with impunity. Since we aren’t favored, we shouldn’t indulge in venting our emotions.”

Michael was silent for a long time and asked softly, ”Don’t you feel wronged?”

”No, I don’t,” Vid replied. ”If there’s a lesson I’ve learned from this incident, it’s——”

”First, don’t pin all your hopes on others.”

”Second, only those with power can do as they please.”

”Third...when you can’t beat someone, you have to endure it.”

”That’s just how the world is—always like this.”

...

Vid was very rational when talking to Michael, but in reality, he wasn’t entirely unaffected.

For several nights, when he woke up in the middle of the night, his dreams seemed to flash with the green light representing death, and sometimes it was a noseless bald monster’s hideous and cruel voice.

In the late hours of the night, Vid would stare at the stars on the ceiling, unable to sleep for a long time, so he got up and read.

He began to spend more time learning and working on Alchemy.

In the last week before Christmas, Vid finally completed his first piece of Alchemy work.

On the pale yellow parchment, lines of golden light formed a very complex and regular geometric pattern, with the circles of the inner and outer rings slowly rotating at different speeds, and the Ancient Magical Runes alternately shining with golden light.

Vid clearly saw the trajectory of magic flowing within it, the way spells worked. He could even faintly sense where adjustments were needed and which materials should be replaced.

After a while, his eyes felt dry, so he closed them to rest for a moment. When he opened them again, there was just an ordinary piece of parchment in front of him.

After independently completing his first Alchemy work, Vid’s eyes underwent another change, revealing a new capability——

In addition to being able to see others’ true names and the way spells were cast, Vid found that he could also see the magical drawings in Alchemy items, the flow patterns of magic, the spells used, and the inscribed Magic Text.

However, he needed to concentrate, focus intensely on ”seeing” it, and any distraction would cause this special vision to disappear.

In a way, this was also a good thing, but Vid really wished his golden finger could come with a manual.

At first, he thought he might be well-suited to be an Auror—neither Polyjuice Potion nor human body Transfiguration could escape his eyes;

Later, he thought he might be suited to be a teacher, offering one-on-one tutoring for each student, and even if not all were excellent, at least a ninety percent success rate would be achieved.

Now Vid felt that he was probably a born Alchemist.

But if he hadn’t encountered Alchemy in this life, wouldn’t he never have discovered that his eyes could see even more wonderful things?

During Thursday’s tutoring, he handed his repeatedly adjusted work to Professor Morry.

”Oh, let me see... a piece of parchment?”

Professor Morry put on his glasses and stopped Vid from introducing it, first slowly caressing the seemingly ordinary parchment with his slender fingers.

”Hmm...ordinary parchment, with a bit of mercury, Stone Scale Fish Oil, and Mountain Silversage added, none of which are special materials.” Professor Morry murmured spells softly, his fingers gently swaying as he checked the magic circuits on it: ”Transformation Spell, Connecting Spell, Eradication Spell...and Concealment Spell...very clever—extremely clever idea—”

He looked at Vid with surprised and bright eyes and said, ”I guess you must have another similar piece of parchment, right?”

”Yes, Professor.” Vid smiled, took out a notebook he had bound himself from his bag, and said, ”In fact, I have a whole stack!”

Professor Morry smiled, sat down, thought seriously for a while, and then wrote down a sentence on the piece of paper in his hand——

”Extraordinary wisdom is the greatest wealth of mankind.”

The bold, powerful script appeared simultaneously on both pieces of parchment, with the same content and position.

”It’s just as I thought.” Professor Morry checked again, ”The structure of the magic circuits is very stable, and even I couldn’t find a place to make modifications... it’s almost not restricted by distance, and can transmit information instantaneously——”

He said this while pacing back and forth in the room for a while, murmuring words no one could hear clearly, with his eyebrows seemingly about to fly off.

After a while, Professor Morry suddenly turned around, strode over to Vid, grabbed him by the shoulders enthusiastically, and said, ”Child! Do you know? You will change the world! This is a great invention that can change the world! Merlin! It’s more significant than anything I’ve invented so far!”

”It’s incredible; you’re only eleven years old!”

”This is a piece of parchment, but it’s more than just a piece of parchment! It will change the way all Wizards communicate!”

”How had no one thought of this before? It’s so simple, yet so great!”

Seeing Professor Morry’s bright eyes and somewhat crazy demeanor, Vid’s heart began to pound intensely; he resisted the urge to step back, his fingers curling slightly, almost unable to resist reaching for his Magic Wand.

In an instant, countless precedents flashed through his mind——for instance, Song Zhwen of the ”Poetry Stealing Murder,” or Newton who suppressed and persecuted other scholars.

Vid’s mind instantly went on high alert as if he’d returned to that day — separated by a wall, he had heard Voldemort’s voice.

Dumbledore’s calm, pale blue eyes seemed to be staring at him.

Vid quietly pinched a bean-sized button — this was the safety precaution he prepared for himself.

He tried to remain humble and composed, smiling as he said, ”It’s not really my invention—I simply borrowed the precedent of Muggle network communication. Without the professor’s attentive guidance, I couldn’t have succeeded in making it.”
