Chapter 4161: The Competition to Elect an Interim Mansion Master

The death of the Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion was naturally a huge matter to the people of the Divine Spirit Mansion. It was imperative that they elect an interim Mansion Master as soon as possible.

Under normal circumstances, the election would not be carried out so hastily nor would they need to elect an interim Mansion Master first. However, the competition in Destiny Canyon between the Divine Kingdoms in the Southern Heaven Continent was just around the corner. As such, the messenger of the Righteous Divine Kingdom, an advanced Emperor of Gods stronger than Mo Wen Dao, was quickly dispatched to the city a few days after Mo Wen Dao’s death.

The messenger of the Righteous Divine Kingdom said, “All powerhouses are welcome to participate in the competition to elect the interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion. The competition will start in two months. After that, the interim Mansion Master will follow our Lord to the Destiny Canyon and participate in the Southern Heaven Continent’s Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. If his or her performance is good, our Lord will officially appoint him or her as the new Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion!”

Following that, the news spread like a wildfire.

The messenger of the Righteous Divine Kingdom would oversee the competition to elect the interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Kingdom two months later. The interim Mansion Master was obligated to follow the Lord of the Righteous Divine Kingdom to Destiny Canyon and participate in the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. If the interim Mansion Master performed well, he or she would be officially appointed as the Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion.

!!

The Divine Spirit Mansion was one of the Mansions under the Righteous Divine Kingdom. It was only natural that only the worthy would be appointed as the Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion. The competition in Destiny Canyon would help judge if the interim Mansion Master was worthy of the position.

‘Destiny Canyon? Battle of the Divine Kingdoms? Will there be any benefits in participating?’

Duan Ling Tian naturally had never heard about Destiny Canyon or the Southern Heaven Continent’s Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. In fact, many people also did not know where the Destiny Canyon was; they only knew it was the venue of the Southern Heaven Continent’s Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. Based on the messenger’s words, he could tell that the Lords of the various Divine Kingdoms took the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms rather seriously as well.

After eavesdropping on a few conversations, Duan Ling Tian learned that they were indeed benefits to participating in the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. He would also be able to meet the Lord of the Righteous Divine Kingdom.

‘Perhaps, I should compete to become the interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion. If I win, I’ll follow the lord of the kingdom to Destiny Canyon and participate in the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. The benefits aside, I’d like to meet the Lord of the Righteous Divine Kingdom… However, I’m sure there’ll be quite a few people clamoring for the position of interim Mansion Master. It’s quite a big deal after all to follow the lord of the kingdom to Destiny Canyon and participate in the battle between the Divine Kingdoms. Moreover, one could simply give up the position of Mansion Master after the competition…’

After thinking about it, although it would not be easy, Duan Ling Tian was confident about being elected interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion. Moreover, although the number of people competing would not be small, it would not be big either. If it were not for the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms, perhaps, not many would be attracted to compete for the position of Mansion Master. The position seemed fancy, but it came with a huge responsibility as well. Moreover, if one was negligent with one’s duty, one would be held accountable by the lord of the kingdom. Apart from that, one’s cultivation would also be delayed. However, an interim Mansion Master was different. After all, they were only electing an interim Mansion Master so quickly to participate in the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms. As such, the interim Mansion Master would not carry the responsibilities that Mansion Masters had. Such an opportunity would be attractive to reclusive advanced Emperors of Gods like Zhong Bai Nan.

‘I’ll spend the next two months raising my cultivation base!’ Duan Ling Tian thought to himself as his eyes glinted. He naturally was not interested in becoming the Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion, but he was interested in the Battle of the Divine Kingdoms in Destiny Canyon. As such, he decided to participate in the competition to elect the interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion.

…

In the beginning, Duan Ling Tian spent another two days in the Divine Spirit Mansion’s city before he grew bored. He then wandered the outskirts of the city and hunted intermediate Emperors of Gods.

Although Duan Ling Tian’s strength was now comparable to an advanced Emperor of Gods, his cultivation base was that of a rudimentary Emperor of Gods. As such, the rewards he received for killing intermediate Emperors of Gods were still rather bountiful. Conversely, if an intermediate Emperor of Gods killed him, the intermediate Emperor of Gods would not be rewarded at all.

Based on this, it could be seen that the Trial of Gods was skewed toward people like Duan Ling Tian who was strong enough to kill those with a higher cultivation base.

Apart from the intermediate Emperors of Gods, Duan Ling Tian did not spare the rudimentary Emperors of Gods he came across as well.

…

At the same time, as the news spread, many powerhouses came out of seclusion and began to gather in and around the Divine Spirit Mansion’s city.

…

Two months passed in just a blink of an eye.

At this time, Duan Ling Tian had spent nearly a year in the Trial of Gods.

‘I still have two years left in this place… It shouldn’t be a problem for me to become an intermediate Emperor of Gods, but I wonder if I’ll be able to stabilize my cultivation base by then,’ Duan Ling Tian wondered inwardly as he sighed. He did not dare to think about becoming an advanced Emperor of Gods since it seemed beyond his reach now. In his opinion, it would be great as long as he became an intermediate Emperor of Gods and stabilized his cultivation base within two years.

At this time, he was returning to the Divine Spirit Mansion’s city. After all, the competition to elect the interim Mansion Master of the Divine Spirit Mansion would be held the next day. He checked into an inn in the city and called it a day.

Unlike the real world, inns in the Trial of Gods, or in this world, were called temporary restorative grounds. Duan Ling Tian found the naming choice a little strange.

Duan Ling Tian managed to secure the last available room in the inn. Due to the competition, there was a sudden influx of visitors to the city. Most of these people came to watch the show since they were not prohibited from watching the competition.

While he was in the inn, he overheard the hushed conversations in his surroundings. Most of them were talking about the competition tomorrow. It would be held 10,000 miles east of the Divine Spirit Mansion’s city, and the messenger of the Righteous Divine Kingdom would be overseeing the competition. Anyone could participate in the competition regardless of their cultivation bases as long as they were strong, and killing was permitted during the competition.

When Duan Ling Tian arrived at the door of his room, he heard someone say, “Since the competition involves one’s life, it’ll stop many who only want to join the fun from participating. I don’t think there’ll be many participants, but I’m sure all of them are very strong…”

…

At night.

Duan Ling Tian sat cross-legged on the bed with his eyes closed as he reflected on his time left in the Trial of Gods and what he would do after leaving the Trial of Gods.

‘After leaving the Trial of Gods, it’s time for me to enter the Realm Battlefield. Although the Realm Battlefield is dangerous, it has many fortuitous encounters as well. If I want to become a Supreme God before the 1,000 years are up, my best chance is entering the Realm Battlefield. Based on my current strength, even when I become a Supreme God, my strength should be above average…’

‘Ke’er, I hope you’re safe in the Realm Battlefield… If anything happens to you, I swear I’ll make the Yun clan pay for it!’ Duan Ling Tian thought to himself as his eyes glinted.

The Yun clan was a prime supreme-rank force in the Divine Offering Land and had the support of a supreme powerhouse. Duan Ling Tian was aware of this, but he was not afraid. He knew he had a high chance of becoming a supreme powerhouse himself. Once he became a supreme powerhouse, he was confident he would be at least on par with the Yun clan’s supreme powerhouse. After all, how many supreme powerhouses possessed all Five Divine Elements and comprehended two out of the Four Daos of Heaven and Earth like he did? These were the source of Duan Ling Tian’s confidence.

As for his laws, he had the Supreme Powerhouse Divinity to help his law of space and the Divine Tree of Life to help his law of life. As for the other laws, he could improve them with time.

…

Early the next day.

Duan Ling Tian left the inn and followed a group of people out of the city. He was not the only one without companions.

Shortly after leaving the Divine Spirit Mansion, someone walked over and asked with a smile, “Brother, are you alone?”

Duan Ling Tian looked at the young man, and he could tell the young man was a rudimentary Emperor of Gods. The young man must have sensed his aura and discovered that he was a rudimentary Emperor of Gods as well before approaching him.

In this world where the strong were revered and the weak were preyed upon, it was common for thosewith the same cultivation bases to form groups of their own.

Indeed, the young man only approached Duan Ling Tian after he discovered they had the same cultivation base. He would not have approached Duan Ling Tian if Duan Ling Tian was in or above the realm of an intermediate Emperor of Gods, and he also would not have approached Duan Ling Tian if Duan Ling Tian was in or below the realm of an advanced Lord of Gods.

Duan Ling Tian only nodded slightly in response to the young man.

The young man was dressed in a light green robe. He was tall and big. His features were very distinct. Although he could not be considered good-looking, his bearing would leave a strong impression on most people.
