The Disfigured Beauty Becomes a Succubus to Repay Her Debt

Chapter 108: Chapter 105: Bai Juzhi’s Dusk Plan

Cao Ye sat in his office, staring blankly at his computer screen.

After tonight, he would be the Director of the Anomaly Investigation Bureau.

The weight on his shoulders felt a little heavier.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

A knock sounded at the door.

Cao Ye said,

”Come in.”

His female secretary walked in, holding a document.

”Director, the document has been restored. Please take a look.”

This was the plan targeting Dusk that Bai Juzhi had handed to Cao Ye before entering the Mother-Child Coffin.

Bai Juzhi had been covered in so much blood that the paper was soaked through, making the words illegible.

The paper had been sent to the technical department to have the text on it restored.

The tech department was fast; they finished the job in just ten minutes.

Cao Ye took the document.

”Good work.”

The female secretary stood in place, hesitating to speak.

Cao Ye looked up.

”Speak.”

The female secretary tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

”I’m just very curious. Why was he so obsessed with the Mother-Child Coffin?”

Cao Ye raised an eyebrow.

”You’re curious about him?”

The female secretary lowered her head.

”My husband died at his hands. I can’t believe he’s just... dead, like that.”

Her husband had once investigated an organization.

That organization seemed to be connected to the former Director, Zhao Pengcheng.

And so, Bai Juzhi had ruthlessly killed her husband.

Cao Ye said,

”His obsession with the Mother-Child Coffin isn’t exactly a secret.”

Cao Ye set down the document the secretary had brought and took another file from his drawer, handing it to her.

”This is Bai Juzhi’s file.”

The secretary opened the file, and astonishment gradually filled her eyes.

”You... you’re saying this is Bai Juzhi?”

Bai Juzhi, graduated from the Liancheng Maritime University’s Department of Mathematics at twenty-four, then pursued advanced studies at Orus Bantar University.

At twenty-eight, he began teaching at Liancheng Thirteenth Middle School.

He was one of Liancheng’s top ten teachers, the star mathematics teacher for the honors class.

He had won various international mathematics awards, including the Barry Award, the Nosa Award, and the Zu Wen Yuan Prize.

He donated his personal prize winnings to the Liancheng Thirteenth Middle School’s education fund, helping sixteen underprivileged students go on to university.

Eight years ago, Bai Juzhi was caught up in the Wooden Ox and Flowing Horse anomaly incident, during which his wife, Nakusha, was tragically killed.

Due to his outstanding performance during the Wooden Ox and Flowing Horse incident, he was invited by Zhao Pengcheng to join the Anomaly Administration Bureau.

Zhao Pengcheng’s promise was this: if his performance was exemplary, he would be allowed to use the Mother-Child Coffin to resurrect Nakusha.

After joining the Anomaly Administration Bureau, he became unscrupulous in carrying out his missions.

He orchestrated a series of vicious incidents, including the Bailaole Mall bombing in Sichuan City and the Dilong District arson case in Huzhou.

According to statistics, Bai Juzhi was responsible for the deaths of 1,800 civilians, thirty-six Sheriffs, and ten Investigators.

The secretary stared at the photo in the file.

It was Bai Juzhi’s ID photo from before he joined the Anomaly Administration Bureau.

You could see he was a very shy and simple-hearted man.

The secretary frowned.

”So, he did it all to resurrect his wife?”

Cao Ye sneered.

”What? Feeling sorry for him?”

The secretary said coldly,

”He killed so many people for his own selfish desires. I’d say his death was too easy.”

Cao Ye shook his head.

”His death wasn’t so easy.

Zhao Pengcheng lied to him. The Mother-Child Coffin is not a Taboo Item capable of resurrecting the dead.

The effect of the Mother-Child Coffin is far too sinister.

To prevent it from being coveted by those with ulterior motives, only Zhao Pengcheng and I knew its true effect.

However, now that Bai Juzhi has entered the Mother-Child Coffin, its secret won’t be a secret for much longer.”

The secretary paused, stunned.

”Then what does the Mother-Child Coffin actually do?”

Cao Ye lit a cigarette and said,

”Zhao Pengcheng told Bai Juzhi this:

Bring a lock of the deceased’s hair into the Mother-Child Coffin, and if the user kills themself in the mother coffin, the owner of the hair will be resurrected in the child coffin.”

Cao Ye flicked his ash and chuckled.

”Complete bullshit.

The true function of the Mother-Child Coffin is this:

When a villain, their hands stained with blood and filled with overwhelming resentment, takes their own life in the mother coffin while carrying a ’Token,’ they will transform into a powerful Ghost and emerge from the child coffin.

That Ghost has no consciousness and will only obey the commands of the person holding the ’Token.’”

The secretary recalled something.

’Bai Juzhi entered the mother coffin with a lock of hair. So that lock of hair is the Token?’

Cao Ye continued,

”Bai Juzhi was merely a butcher. He had obsession, but not resentment.

So, three days ago, Zhao Pengcheng manufactured some resentment for him.”

The secretary frowned, not understanding what Cao Ye meant.

Cao Ye explained,

”Zhao Pengcheng erased the information of one passenger on the Sea Train.

Bai Juzhi, holding a falsified passenger manifest, ordered the deaths of all survivors on the Sea Train.

What he didn’t expect was that his own daughter was on that train.

Ordering the death of his own daughter... you could call it his retribution.”

The secretary sighed.

”It’s satisfying to hear, but I feel sorry for the little girl.”

Cao Ye said,

”Heh, that’s not all.

Knowing his usual methods, his daughter’s body was likely cremated haphazardly.

Meaning, her ashes were mixed in with the other passengers’ and dumped who knows where.

When Bai Juzhi learned of this, he was bound to be filled with overwhelming resentment toward himself and toward Zhao Pengcheng.

Possessing both resentment and the stench of blood—the perfect time to enter the Mother-Child Coffin.”

He glanced toward the records department.

”In a few days, a terrifying Fierce Ghost will be born from the child coffin, to be used by the Anomaly Administration Bureau.

This terrifying Fierce Ghost is a weapon Zhao Pengcheng forged for himself with his own hands.

Bai Juzhi never should have trusted Zhao Pengcheng.

Even if his daughter hadn’t been on that train, Zhao Pengcheng would have used her in some other scheme.”

The secretary said,

”He was a fool, then. You clearly told him the Mother-Child Coffin couldn’t resurrect the dead, but he still didn’t believe you.”

Cao Ye frowned.

”Actually, I think he did believe me.

I also don’t understand why he still chose to enter the Mother-Child Coffin.

Besides, he knew I didn’t like him.

If the Mother-Child Coffin could really bring back his wife, he should have known I would never have let him use it.

Hmm... there’s one other thing I don’t get.”

The secretary asked,

”What is it?”

Cao Ye stubbed out his cigarette.

”Li Mingyue’s tactics were too amateurish for someone like Bai Juzhi.

I only sent her to the South Sea to coordinate with the Sheriff’s Department and hunt down Bai Juzhi because I had no one more suitable available.

Bai Juzhi should have realized he was in danger.

But the report Whale Bird gave me said that Bai Juzhi’s men had their guard completely down. It took almost no effort to kill them.

It was as if he deliberately sent his men to their deaths.”

Cao Ye shook his head.

”Forget it. Who knows what a madman is thinking.

Maybe he knew he didn’t have long to live and wanted his subordinates to die with him.

Heh, even if he had prepared a defense, against the power of the Blue Whale Brigade, those wolves would have been completely wiped out anyway.

You should go and prepare the report. We have a big meeting tonight.”

The secretary nodded and left the office.

Cao Ye opened Bai Juzhi’s plan for Dusk and began to read:

”First: Based on the patterns of the Gavel and Yin Yang Master incidents, there is a high probability that Dusk can only be active on rainy nights.

Tonight’s Sea Train incident has strengthened my belief in this probability.

Because there was light rain over the sea tonight.

Second, I originally thought Dusk could only sense the aura of Taboo Items within the South Sea.

Based on the first deduction, I now believe Dusk can likely sense the auras of Taboo Items from much farther away.

It is merely bound by the rule of moving only on rainy nights, which prevents it from traveling far.

This creates a closed loop of logic explaining why Dusk only appears in the South Sea to claim Taboo Items.

Therefore, I propose the following combat deployment:

Step One: Two nights from now, induce artificial rainfall and simultaneously bring the Wooden Ox and Flowing Horse and the Human Skin Drum to the South Sea to lure out Dusk.

Step Two: Artificially disperse the rain clouds.

Step Three: I will use the Wooden Ox and Flowing Horse to stall Dusk, forcing it to violate its rule of moving only on rainy nights.

This is our greatest chance to slay a god.”

Cao Ye frowned, muttering,

”’Dusk... can only move on rainy nights?’”
