Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Full Payment

”Yeah, Porsches are really nice-looking. I’ve seen pictures from car shows online before.” Ye Xing stood up, a happy expression on his face. ”Then let’s go look at the Porsches. Everyone has a Mercedes or a BMW these days, and I don’t want to be like them. Getting a Porsche to drive around should be pretty fun.”

”Heh.” Manager Ruan’s lips twitched as she let out a cool, indifferent laugh, then led Ye Xing and Chen Feng to the test drive area. In the Porsche section, five or six cars were parked, their bodies polished to a brilliant, luxurious sheen. With their streamlined chassis and exquisite designs, they were the epitome of cool.

There were Porsche Cayennes, Porsche 911s, convertibles, and more.

Ye Xing’s gaze swept across the area, and he was immediately captivated by a black Porsche 911.

It was like meeting the woman of his dreams. Ye Xing eagerly ran over, lovingly stroking the car’s body. He then circled the vehicle, looking it over and clicking his tongue in admiration. He was extremely satisfied with the car.

Manager Ruan and Chen Feng followed behind him.

”Chen Feng, is this friend of yours from a rich family?” Manager Ruan suddenly asked.

”I don’t think so. Ye Xing’s family is pretty ordinary, how could he be from a rich family?” Chen Feng said, puzzled. ”Why do you ask?”

”He doesn’t look like a rich kid, either. Those cheap clothes he’s wearing couldn’t have cost more than five hundred yuan. And he’s still using a domestic phone model from two years ago.” Manager Ruan glanced at Ye Xing in the distance and said in a low voice, ”This friend of yours is really Top Grade, Chen Feng. I think you should spend less time with people like him.”

”Why would you say that?” Chen Feng frowned, a little displeased. ”I think Ye Xing is a good person.”

”Heh, how could someone from an ordinary family with no job possibly afford a car?” Manager Ruan said. ”He’s just over there putting on a show. The guy is so pretentious.”

”That’s not necessarily true,” Chen Feng explained. ”Ye Xing isn’t actually jobless. He quit his job last month to start his own business. Maybe he’s already made a bit of money.”

”Heh, ’a bit of money’ is all?” Manager Ruan smirked. ”Look over there. That Porsche 911. Do you know how much it costs? The base price alone is over 1.7 million. After you add the interior, taxes, and all the miscellaneous fees, you’re looking at two million to drive it off the lot. The people who buy these luxury cars are usually older, middle-aged bosses or rich kids. Do you really think a young guy who became jobless right after graduation can afford it?”

”Over two million? Why is it so expensive!” Chen Feng’s heart skipped a beat. Even she couldn’t afford a luxury car that cost over two million. The car she currently drove was only worth a little over three hundred thousand.

”Sister Chen, Manager Ruan, come over here!”

Up ahead, having finally had his fill of admiring the Porsche, Ye Xing waved to Chen Feng and Manager Ruan.

Chen Feng immediately walked over to Ye Xing, while Manager Ruan ambled along behind them, looking unconcerned.

”Sister Chen, what do you think of this Porsche? Beautiful, isn’t it?” Ye Xing asked with a smile.

”Yeah, it’s gorgeous.” Chen Feng hurried forward to his side and tugged on his sleeve. ”Ye Xing, do you like this Porsche? I asked for you just now. This car costs around two million.”

”Two million, huh?” Ye Xing hesitated. His original plan had been to spend eight or nine hundred thousand, a million at most, on a car. He never thought he’d end up double his budget. This meant half of his savings of over four million would be gone in an instant. Growing up, Ye Xing had never spent such a huge sum of money.

Seeing the hesitation on his face, Chen Feng quietly tried to comfort him. ”Ye Xing, Porsches are a bit expensive, and not really the best value for your money. Why don’t we go look at the BMWs? I think their cars are pretty good, too.”

Manager Ruan walked over just then. Hearing Chen Feng’s words of consolation, the scorn in her eyes intensified. ”Little Ye, are you done looking yet?” she said impatiently. ”Frankly, not many people in all of Luoxian County can afford a luxury car like this. You should really consider the Bora and Jetta I recommended earlier. Since you came with Afeng, I can give you a discount, for my old classmate’s sake.”

Seeing the contempt in Manager Ruan’s eyes, Ye Xing felt a surge of irritation. ’I have over four million in spare cash, anyway,’ he thought. ’If I spend two million, I’ll still have over two million left...’

”Fuck it!” Ye Xing steeled himself and declared, ”If I’m buying a car, it’s going to be one I actually like. It’s just an annoyance to buy something you don’t want. This car is two million all-in, right? Fine. I’ll take it!”

”Huh?” Both Manager Ruan and Chen Feng were dumbfounded.

「Two hours later...」

After Ye Xing had nonchalantly paid the two million in a single transaction and driven the Porsche 911 off the lot, Manager Ruan’s legs trembled. She stared blankly ahead, her face beet red and stinging as if she’d just been slapped.

”So... so much new money! Afeng, you... you said he wasn’t from a rich family! That... that was a two-million-yuan Porsche, and he paid for it all at once!” Manager Ruan looked at Chen Feng beside her, her gaze full of resentment, her frustrated expression clearly asking, ”Why did you lie to me?”
