The Cure.

This was something Virion had begged them for (through Otto, as they hadn’t ever spoken to Virion directly).

Due to limited stocks and raw materials, the Cure for old ailments had not been publicised it was not a surprise the Lord knew.

However, Virion was a low-key contributor and investor (through Otto), so he naturally was more updated.

He (Virion) absolutely did not want to become Lord and to do that his brother had to pop out kids.

Speaking of kids—

”Haynus! Haynus!”

At some point, a few little toddlers emerged from the hallway, calling for ’his highness’.

Their little legs were small, short, but swift, and they soon arrived next to them.

Before reaching too close, they were reminded of the etiquette the tutors had been drilling onto their heads, and they stopped a meter away and bowed respectfully.

”Suy Haynus...” (Sir Highness)

”There’s no need to be this formal...” Valhalla said. This was the greeting from leader to subordinate. There was actually a less sharp bow used between. Seniors and juniors of a powerful clan.

Rasha, the children’s etiquette tutor, shook her head. ”This has been what had been agreed on in the council.”

Valhalla sighed and just dismissed them.

Althea and Garan, on the other hand, looked over curiously and were a little surprised. They knew he had adopted, but they didn’t know they were half-orcs.

Familiar-looking ones, too.

One was a little bear orc and the other was a little birdie orc, with very familiar patterns and shades.

You know, half-orcs, even two bear types would not be confused with each other. Chances are, even those with the same color, they were still different in a way. Like this brown bear had fur coloured of burnt sienna, while a cousin could have fur the colour of poop.

These kids looked exactly the same as two new baby orcs who came with Nana, who was Gochi, Maomao, and Baku’s friend. If unrelated, the chances of their appearances being so similar was extremely low.

She took a mental note to mention this when sending a Post later.

They could already talk because half-orcs grow quickly, not staying as helpless infants for long.

This was an evolutionary trait because their historical environment was in the wild. It was just that they reach a mental cap much, much earlier than humans.

As for why those in Alterra had no idea, despite having some contact with this place, it was really not a surprise.

Posts had limited word count. Most people generally talk about things that were relevant, and not every detail was passed over. Even friends wouldn’t give extremely detailed letters about unrelated individuals.

She couldn’t help but look at the Lord.

He seemed attached to the baby half-orcs. It was good that they had leverage now and he owed them a lot. This should make it a bit more amicable for him to discuss parting with them, once she confirmed the children’s identities.

If they were really related to those back home, then it was only right to give them back. To make things easier for everyone, this Lord should be granted the chance to sire his own children.

Anyway, the children just passed by to greet him before they went to take their etiquette lessons.

Warrior City focused on strength, but somehow, to shut up the nobles who disagreed with the children’s adoption, he agreed to let them study various subjects like etiquette, and the teachers had to be from various factions.

For example, this noble would teach them literacy, another noble would teach them history, and so on.

There were risks, especially long-term, but there were also advantages so he didn’t mind it.

The children, who might’ve been ignored by nobles, were now being raised by them in a sense.

Valhalla also made it a point each night to see them before going to bed, asking what they had learned. If anyone taught something they shouldn’t, he would detect them.

Ironically, the nightly chat with the kids just made him closer to them.

The kids left, leaving the three adults behind, and it was only then that Valhalla absorbed what this cure was.

If it were something he had already known, there was no need to hand things over like this.

After a beat, Valhalla looked at the bottle with wide eyes.

”You mean...?” This had naturally been mentioned to him before but, frankly, he had been a bit cynical.

However, if these people dared offer it to him in person meant that they were somewhat confident about it.

”Yes.”

The research results for this Cure had been kept under wraps and not publicized yet. There were not many of the items that had been made, sufficient raw materials were still being procured, and they wanted to maximize their use, and one of these was solidifying the relationship with Warrior City.

”Take this once a day, and you should be able to tap onto aether again after about a week. Considering your level, it might be sooner.”

”This...thank you...”

The Lord was unable to stop himself and drink the medicine, carefully placing the rest in his space. Because he was hyper-aware of his own body, he immediately felt the differences.

It was not too drastic, but it was enough for him to feel refreshed. The perpetual pain he felt—something he had been used to by now that he already forgot it wasn’t normal—had eased a little, much like taking out a splinter stuck in his toe.

At a later date, it would feel like his every broken nerve was fixed, and it was incomparably comfortable.

Having lived in pain for decades, even if the treatment was just beginning, even the most miniscule change caused turbulence in his heart.

His eyes warmed and he patted Garan’s shoulder and also looked at Althea with a deep, appreciative gaze.

”Thank you,” he said, though his voice cracked. He took a deep breath before speaking again.

”On behalf of the entire City—thank you.”
