After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Voumi Town?

Many of the Ferrol guests also huddled over as if concerned, when they really wanted to gossip.

They found out that many of the Voumi slaves who went with Sarah and the others were still in the process of freeing themselves at this time.

However, all of them had discovered great jobs, especially with their stronger-than-average fighting skills and it so happened that this person had been hired to escort a few teams as a private hire along with several others.

The people tapped for this act were these people. What was best was that these people didn’t mind capitalizing on their pain. They would be happy to help since they knew what they were doing would cause Voumi some well-deserved trouble!!

Thinking of this, Glem fell to the ground, sobbing, with matching tapping on the soil, imagining a few bastard’s faces on the soil.

He didn’t even have to act. Just remembering what those bastards did to them made his blood boil in anger.

Slam! Slam!

”Yes! I only saw a glimpse under the coat, but I definitely saw it!” another chimed in. ”I remember him because I’ve heard him brag about killing many mercenaries while drunk...”

”Yes, those mercenaries probably aren’t even from there.”

”Why would they be here at all?” someone from Ferrol couldn’t help but ask.

At this, the former Voumi slaves sobbed loudly. ”Could they be after us?!”

”Wuu... nonono!”

”I’m scared! I’m scared!!”

Of course, they knew that wasn’t the case. But imagining did feel scary.

”No, if it was, why would they take those Valov people instead of you?”

At this, someone from the side—no one could tell who it was since people were clustered for gossip—mumbled.

”Then is the rumor true? Didn’t Voumi start hunting people from Valov a while back?”

They gasped and murmured among themselves.

”Well, I heard that Voumi is about to upgrade soon, so they wanted to weaken the enemy while it’s early.”

Someone from the other side of the cluster reacted. ”Oh, yes! I heard that too! But I thought it was a joke because it was so ridiculous!”

”Yes, I heard something similar!” Some people who had nothing to do with the plan added, too, and they enjoyed the subsequent attention from curious people.

Hey, he even added some embellishments that were probably not true, but would be interesting if they were.

”My wife’s second cousin is a merchant from the West, and they tell me all sorts of news from there,” he said, chest puffed up.

At this, the people turned their attention back to the former Voumi slaves, who acted like they had spread possibly untrue information.

”But... I’m not entirely certain! Don’t spread it please. I could get in trouble.”

”Ah, yes yes, your words are safe with me.”

Of course it wasn’t. Just as planned.

...

They left the location after an hour of rest, allowing people like Gus (who had peed on himself) to clean up properly and the trauma patients to calm before they continued their way.

People couldn’t help but wonder though. It all happened so fast, and not many people actually noticed the people making chaos amidst the beasts. They were too focused on the mob, after all.

That said, many of the Ferrol tourists were definitely looking forward to sending some gossipy posts to their friends back home.

...

While the caravan leisurely went to Alterra at their own pace, a certain group of dozen mercenaries were literally being dragged back.

Wazan gasped as he tried to struggle against the hold of the person who grabbed his neck, dragging him through the forest. He couldn’t even get his balance well because these bastards broke his legs!

He grabbed at the strong arm tightly, trying to struggle, but it was like he was a helpless doll dragged through the forest, his back hitting branches, trunks, and rocks in the way.

He had superior defense equipment and a high level, so he was not injured, but he was definitely in pain—physically and psychologically!

He took out the Waning Pearl from his space, but before he could even activate it—

”AHHHHH!!!”

He screamed as he felt a belated, but sharp pain on his arm, and he realized he couldn’t feel anything there anymore!

Did these bastards cut off his arm!? He was already level 37!! How could they cut off his arm with a single slice?!

He couldn’t even see because his neck was gripped, and he couldn’t look down at all.

”What’s this?”

”Oh, it’s a rare Waning Pearl!” another voice said, sounding very familiar with the tool. ”This is a family heirloom-type of tool, you know. Some nobles in cities might have this as an important family tool. How interesting that this guy has one.”

”Whoa. This guy’s a city noble? Wasn’t he from a town?”

”Or he just got decent connections.”

”Well, it’s ours now.”

”True, true.”

Wazan was feeling delirious from the pain. He was still confused about what was happening, but he tried to fight through the agony.

He tried to summon his elements, but when he would, he’d feel himself lifted up and then hit back to the ground, repeatedly until he didn’t have energy to use his elements anymore.

BANG!

BANG!

The bleeding worsened, and the pain multiplied.

”GAH!!” he gasped, and could no longer utter anything as he was pulled forward again, hitting various shrubs and branches directly.

At the side, he could see the same hooded people also drag his other men. Some were even dragged by the legs, and their heads were dragged along the rough floors of the forests.

They all had various deep injuries in their bodies, and at least two appendages had been broken.

They were pulled in different ways and different speeds, but one thing was for certain: They were completely helpless!

One had to know that because they were experienced mercenaries, some of whom were elementalists, and all of them had superior equipment. In order to render them completely helpless, the enemy had to be at least 10 levels higher!

Who are these people!?
