Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

140: Chapter 14 is worth a whole wave of zombies. At this moment, Huo Sixian’s clothes were soaked with sweat due to the high temperature.

There were also some small scars on his exposed arms.

They had already scabbed over by now.

The two of them locked eyes, sharing a tacit understanding, as the cluttered air around them seemed to turn into Phantoms.

A place in Ye Qingqing’s heart was touched, quite unconsciously.

But, it was only for a moment.

”What’s the casualty situation?” Ye Qingqing asked.

Hearing this, Huo Sixian shook his head: ”The situation isn’t good.”

”The death toll is much higher than we imagined.”

”Moreover, some people have developed fevers.”

Ye Qingqing was startled when she heard this.

How long had it been since the Air Conditioners stopped working?

People were developing fevers so quickly.

”Are the supplies at the Base Hospital still sufficient?”

Huo Sixian nodded: ”The hospital supplies are still adequate, it’s just that this heat...”

A trace of worry appeared in Huo Sixian’s eyes. He didn’t finish his sentence, but Ye Qingqing understood.

He wanted to say that under this high temperature, many people would die this time.

Huo Sixian and Ye Qingqing had nothing left to do after eliminating the zombies, leaving the rest to the Logistics Department to clean up.

”Qingqing, have I ever told you what I used to do?”

Huo Sixian suddenly looked at Ye Qingqing with a very serious tone.

Although Ye Qingqing was puzzled, she shook her head. In all the time she had known Huo Sixian, he had never told her what he did before.

Huo Sixian was silent for a moment before slowly speaking: ”I was a Mercenary. Originally, I was in the Special Forces, but later I went abroad, and Lu Huan and the others followed me.”

”After going abroad, we became mercenaries. During that time, I thought it was the darkest period of my life because we were living on the edge every day.”

”Gradually, I grew tired of that kind of life, finding the days dull and uninteresting.”

Ye Qingqing listened to Huo Sixian’s brief description, but her heart was exceptionally shocked.

Being a Mercenary wasn’t something an ordinary person could do.

Generally, those who could be mercenaries had to be ruthless in addition to having good combat skills; otherwise, how could they navigate freely between various gangs?

Ye Qingqing also understood why others had been afraid of Huo Sixian when they were living in that penthouse.

Ye Qingqing lowered her eyes and looked at Huo Sixian: ”I understand. Why are you telling me this, Captain Huo?”

After saying that, Ye Qingqing left with Ah Huang.

Ah Huang turned his head and glanced at Huo Sixian.

Although he didn’t know how Huo Sixian had annoyed Ye Qingqing, there must be a reason why she didn’t want to be around him.

Over the next few days, people in the base continued to come down with fevers one after another.

It looked like the hospital beds were becoming insufficient.

The perimeter walls of the base were gradually being rebuilt.

Ye Qingqing even provided power supply equipment to the base twice.

After all, repairing the power plant was not an easy task.

Moreover, after two explosions, it was basically burnt to the ground.

The fire didn’t spread to other places only because the power plant had been built in an environment with no other buildings around it.

Power within the base was temporarily available.

But it was limited to daytime use only.

In the survivors’ living quarters, there was no air conditioning at night; surviving was enough.

So at night, most survivors went outside instead of staying at home.

But at the same time, more and more people were getting fevers.

The death toll was also rising.

Some had fevers and didn’t pull through.

Some survivors were simply scorched or thirsted to death.

Water was now scarce in the base.

Basically, they could only get a drink of water once every two days.

Some people, driven to desperation by the water issue, even resorted to drinking urine.

It wasn’t just the survivors in the base who had fevers.

Even Lu Huan and the others had come down with fevers.

As well as many people from the Army.

At first, everyone thought it was just a common high fever; after all, it was normal for the human body to be unable to withstand this heat.

But they didn’t expect that these successive fevers would seriously affect the normal lives of the survivors in the base.

The hospital was gradually becoming overwhelmed.

Su Miaomiao and Li Qingshan were busy moving things in the base with Ye Qingqing that day.

But Su Miao-miao suddenly felt dizzy and nauseous, and the symptoms of vertigo were very obvious.

In the span of a single breath, Su Miao-miao collapsed to the ground.

When Li Qingshan went to check on Su Miao-miao, he also collapsed.

Watching this scene, doubts arose in Ye Qingqing’s mind.

This wasn’t normal, not normal at all.

How could people faint together like this?

Moreover, Su Miao-miao and Li Qingshan were radiating heat.

Their whole bodies felt like they were being roasted.

Ye Qingqing had long heard that this batch of feverish people in the base felt as if they had been placed in a steamer.

Before, Ye Qingqing thought it was just a normal fever and wondered how it could be compared to a steamer.

But looking at it now, the description of a steamer was an understatement.

The actual situation was much more severe than a steamer.

Ye Qingqing didn’t hesitate; she immediately took out cooling patches from her space and placed them on Su Miao-miao and Li Qingshan’s foreheads.

Lu Huan, who was nearby, also saw the situation and intended to help Ye Qingqing take the two of them to the hospital.

Unexpectedly, just as Lu Huan was lifting Li Qingshan, he also fainted.

At the same time, it wasn’t just Lu Huan.

Kong Ziyi and Meng Hangfei—all three of them fainted in quick succession.

This scene truly surprised Ye Qingqing.

After seeing these people faint with her own eyes, she finally knew this wasn’t a simple fever.

It was as if they had been infected by some kind of virus.

Ye Qingqing sent them to the hospital, and after settling them in, she went to find Huo Sixian.

At this time, Huo Sixian was incredibly busy.

Deng Jiayu and Pei Siyuan were also there.

”Qingqing, why are you here?”

”Grandma, are you researching something?”

Ye Qingqing didn’t answer Deng Jiayu’s question but asked one in return.

Because at this moment, Huo Sixian was tied securely to a single bed, with blood being drawn from his body through a tube.

Deng Jiayu looked at Ye Qingqing with a slight smile: ”It’s nothing serious. We just suspect that the group of people who fainted and have fevers in the base might be awakening Superpowers. So we’re conducting a comprehensive check on Little Huo’s body to use as a comparison for analyzing the others.”

”To see if their physical condition is the same as Huo Sixian’s.”

Hearing this, a look of pleasant surprise appeared in Ye Qingqing’s eyes.

Ye Qingqing knew that one Huo Sixian could be worth an entire wave of zombies.
