My father sold me to the Mafia King

Chapter 272

Julie’s point of view

He turned to leave the bathroom, but the madness that took hold of me made me precede him with great speed.

I stood at the door, blocking the exit with my trembling, naked body, desperately trying to prevent him from escaping the confrontation. He looked at me with a sharpness that preceded a storm and said: ”Get out of my way, Julie... don’t test my patience.”

I said with desperate defiance, tears blinding my sight: ”I won’t move... I won’t take a single step until you explain this transformation! What has gotten into you? And why are you causing me all this pain?”

He asked with an irritating coldness as he approached me: ”And what am I doing, in your opinion?”

I said, gasps choking my throat: ”You are destroying me... you are exploiting my weakness and my love for you to practice your authority... you are playing with my heart, Robert!”

In the blink of an eye, and without blinking, he grabbed my arm with an iron strength and shoved me away from the door with a violence I didn’t expect. I staggered through the air until my naked body collided with the metal food cart, causing a loud bang and a violent vibration to echo through the room. At that moment, I felt something break inside me a madness I had never known before took over my mind.

Unconsciously, I picked up a glass cup from the cart and threw it onto the floor with all my might. The cup shattered into hundreds of shards that scattered around my bare feet. I bent down with a lightning-fast movement and picked up a large, sharp piece of glass. I brought it close to the vein of my wrist, trembling entirely like a bird drenched in rain.

I looked into his dark eyes and said in a firm, decisive, and mad voice: ”Listen to me well, Robert... I swear by the One who created me, if that cursed door is closed on me one more time, I will end my life here and now... I will kill myself and you will never see me again.”

His eyes widened slightly and he said in a warning tone: ”Julie... put the glass down... don’t act with this madness.”

I replied to him in a breakdown, tears wetting my face: ”You are the one pushing me to the abyss! You are the one who made me mad!”

I pressed the shard of glass onto my delicate skin with force, until the sharp pain stung me and I felt its coldness piercing my flesh. Within seconds, the skin split and warm blood flowed to draw a deep red line on my wrist. I saw Robert’s features change for a second.

He moved toward me with a lightning speed I had never seen before; he grabbed my hand with a steel-like grip that made me moan, wrenched the glass from my hand, and threw it away as he roared in my face: ”You’ve truly lost your mind! You are crazy!”

He let go of my hand with a violence that made me stagger, and he rushed out of the room with angry steps. I waited to hear the sound of the electronic lock I had become accustomed to for fifteen days, but this time he didn’t do it. He left the door ajar and departed.

I collapsed on the bed, my body shaking with bitter weeping. I couldn’t believe the magnitude of the ache I felt. Only last night, I felt the warmth of his breath as it uttered the word of love... I am certain of it, it wasn’t a hallucination! I thought I had regained him, that the imprisonment had ended and in a single moment, everything shattered with a terrifying simplicity... He returned to wearing the mask of cruelty as if last night were nothing but a passing illusion on a stormy night.

What gnaws at my soul most and burns my nerves is this lethal mystery; I don’t know a single logical reason for this insulting treatment, nor do I realize what great sin I committed to be punished in this savage way.

Is my crime my love for him? Or am I just a means to vent his anger at the world? I moved with a listless body, weighted more by psychological exhaustion than physical. I went toward the bathroom. I let the hot water wash the remnants of his touches from my skin, but it failed to wash the oppression settled in my heart.

I dressed quickly and left the room with cautious, hesitant steps, as if expecting a ghost to appear and prevent me from crossing. Finally, I was freed from those walls that choked my breath for fifteen days. I was freed physically, but my soul was still bound by the chains of his memory and his voice whispering of love.

I headed straight downstairs toward Max’s room; I desperately needed a familiar face, someone to talk to and empty this noise that was about to explode my head, otherwise I would truly lose my mind. I opened the door with eagerness and brokenness, but the room was empty, cold, and desolate. I went out searching for him until my feet led me toward the gym. As soon as I entered, I literally froze in my place. I felt a piercing coldness sweep through my limbs as if my blood had turned to ice, and my face paled completely until my features lost the color of life.

I couldn’t believe what my eyes were colliding with at that moment. The sight was enormous, terrifying, and beyond my capacity to endure. I felt my knees weaken, as if the ground were shifting beneath me.
