One-Eyed Monster

The alchemy servants opened their mouths wide, frozen in place. The events unfolding in front of them happened so suddenly that they couldn’t react at all.

These alchemy servants stared blankly at the empty experimental field, as if they were experiencing an illusion, unable to believe the scene before their eyes.

They rubbed their eyes and patted their heads, as if thinking there was something wrong with their bodies.

They still refused to believe that what was happening before them was real. They felt like they were dreaming, trapped in an illusionary realm...

But when they hit themselves, the pain reminded them that everything happening in front of them was indeed real.

So many living people disappeared in an instant!

This was truly bizarre, beyond their comprehension, they just couldn’t understand it.

All the experts in the alchemy workshop vanished in a moment, it was truly shocking—something they dared not believe or imagine.

Then, these alchemy servants felt a chill of fear—it must be known that they were also part of the alchemy workshop. Now their support suddenly evaporated, disappearing from the world, something truly unbelievable. What would their future be like? So many enemies, so many opponents, a single spit from these people could drown the alchemy workshop, even lining up would be enough to give the alchemy workshop headaches. Now the experts are gone, and it’s laughable for these alchemy servants with limited skills to think they could guard the alchemy workshop.

Thinking of this, these alchemy servants who were normally so arrogant suddenly wilted like frosted eggplants.

They felt dejected, utterly pessimistic.

But there were still a few slightly bolder ones who still didn’t believe what happened in front of them. So they decided to go to the scene and explore.

They stealthily peeked from their hiding corners, then sneaked over to the scene.

There were still footprints and some remnants on the experimental field, and upon seeing these, the bold alchemy servants collapsed directly onto the ground.

These traces strongly proved their judgment was wrong, something peculiar had indeed occurred here, events that plunged these alchemy servants into hell...

Pessimistic emotions spread quickly, each of these alchemy servants held their heads, deeply fearing the future.

Covering their faces and slumping down, these alchemy servants still couldn’t bring themselves to focus on their own predicaments, they kept thinking that their carefree lives from before had vanished forever...

They hadn’t realized that someone had approached them quietly and unnoticed.

These two were Hunters, serving the Dark Cabinet. They had been tasked by Charles to intercept Igor, but along the way, they hadn’t encountered any trace of him. As they were perplexed about what had happened, they received a new mission—to stealthily approach the experimental field and rescue a blue-skinned creature...

The new mission made them forget their previous disgrace, and they rushed here without stopping. But in the end, they still missed it; they witnessed everything that occurred—a huge event where numerous Alchemists collectively disappeared.

They lurked around this area, searching everywhere, hoping to find some clue, but unfortunately, they found nothing.

The Hunters’ pride was severely hurt, though luckily they had strong mental resilience, unlike these alchemy servants who were panicked, like lambs to the slaughter.

Now, only blue smoke lingered over the wasteland of the experimental field, and the site was already destroyed; no one could find any clues here.

”Let’s go back, there’s nothing left for us here,” one Hunter said.

”Leaving just like that, I can’t accept it,” the other replied indignantly.

”But that’s the reality, there’s nothing we can change.”

”We haven’t completed any of the Cabinet Elder’s instructions, what’s the point of returning like this?”

”But maybe the Cabinet Elder needs our help!”

”We’re just as helpless as anyone else right now, what can we possibly help them with!” Clearly, one of them had lost their rationality, their emotions snared and tangled.

”Senior, we can’t be driven by recklessness!”

Amongst the two Hunters, one remained calm, persuasively trying to talk sense into the other.

”Something surely isn’t right, these Alchemists couldn’t have just vanished into thin air.” The two Hunters seemingly weren’t familiar with teleportation spells, and they couldn’t quite grasp what had transpired in front of them.

”We came here to rescue that blue-skinned guy, not to investigate how these meddlesome alchemists from the workshop vanished.”

”But didn’t you see that the blue creature had disappeared along with Kuyi Tulan!”

The pair started to argue gradually, their voices growing louder, seemingly forgetting about keeping their presence hidden.

”At the end of the day, we arrived too late and ended up with nothing.”

”We can’t leave with nothing, did you see the alchemy workshop people? Their shocked expressions must mean they know something!”

”Uh, senior, they’re looking at us!”

”Hmm?”

The two Hunters finally noticed they were being surrounded by the gazes of the alchemy workshop people.

”We were careless; luckily it’s them. Had it been those guys earlier, we might’ve had to make a move.”

”These fellows seem afraid of something...”

There was a reason the Hunters couldn’t find Igor, their thinking was too straightforward; it’s unclear how they even made it to the inner circles of the Dark Cabinet.

These alchemy servants’ hearts were now surging, the waves stirred by the succession of events that had just transpired.

Now they were not only shocked, but also felt waves of fear; they couldn’t fathom how the concerns they dreaded arrived so quickly.

Even alchemy servants weren’t fools; they could easily recognize who these two people were.

Hunters, such a clear-cut profession didn’t need them to fill in the blanks.

Moreover, the enmity between the Dark Cabinet and the alchemy workshop wasn’t a recent thing. The Hunters and the Alchemists had always been at each other’s throats.

All this was so unpredictable, and now they were facing the enemy.

So soon, they had come, but how to deal with them!

The experts had vanished; they had abandoned the alchemy workshop, abandoned Xinbal, and given up on the entire Kayne Empire...

Now what were these servants supposed to be!

Pessimism, fear, disappointment, a series of negative emotions instantly engulfed the experimental field.

The servants suddenly felt a sense of homelessness, even feeling no longer attached to life...
