One-Eyed Monster

Kuyi Tulan smacked his lips, pondering everything Hector had described.

He had gleaned quite a bit of information from Hector’s account.

The fact that the Young Family Leader of the Sol Family had unprecedentedly mastered the Incomplete Moon truly startled him.

What shocked him wasn’t the Young Family Leader’s power, nor the mystique of the Incomplete Moon; it was the fact that their Alchemy Workshop was completely stumped by this secret technique.

Just one secret technique required the deployment of Milo. How pathetic! If they encountered another secret technique in the future, would the Alchemy Workshop be rendered impotent again?

Shaking his head, Kuyi Tulan reflected on his visit to Guru Mountain. He realized there were many areas the Alchemy Workshop needed to improve; merely boosting their own power was far from sufficient.

”Milo showed up, and you still let the Young Family Leader of the Sol Family escape?” Kuyi Tulan questioned, his gaze flickering over to Dastan in the Golden Cage.

Dastan kept his eyes shut, not uttering a word.

”The primary reason lies with these two.” Hector gestured towards the cage, implying that their failure to bring back the Young Family Leader was due to these two troublemakers.

A slight smile played on Kuyi Tulan’s lips. ”I can understand Dastan,” he said. ”It’s his Young Family Leader, after all. It’s only natural that he would defend him with his life. But this burly Hunter... I really can’t figure out what reason he would have to protect someone he doesn’t even know.”

Baharo remained silent. He was in the same cage as Dastan. He did whatever Dastan did: closed his eyes and quietly recovered his Spirit Power.

”What do you think the reason is?” Kuyi Tulan turned his head and asked Carmello.

”Chief Alchemist, I am unable to comprehend,” Carmello said.

”You tell me!” Kuyi Tulan turned his head towards Elder Rostellum, who was feigning composure, and asked.

”This humble one is even less able to comprehend. To oppose the Alchemy Workshop is to oppose the entire Kayne Empire! We Politicians will certainly do our utmost to serve the Alchemy Workshop and throw all these treacherous fellows into cages!” Elder Rostellum spouted some useless words, doing so only to dispel the doubt in his heart. After all, he had been listening in this tavern until now and somewhat understood the complexity of the matter. Although he didn’t know the background of the Sol Family, he had heard of the Glorious Seven Knights. Anything involving the Glorious Seven Knights was definitely not a simple matter, because the Glorious Seven Knights was a taboo term.

Elder Rostellum looked at Baharo and Dastan in the cage. He couldn’t see any connection between the two men in the cage and the title of Glorious Seven Knights.

It seems the reason for this can only be found by asking the parties involved.

Kuyi Tulan stood up from his chair and walked straight towards the Golden Cage.

”I know you won’t speak now, but I won’t force you. I roughly understand the ins and outs of the matter. I have many, many things to do next. But before I do them, I first need to confirm why the people locked in this cage chose to walk towards their own demise.”

A dark smile spread across Kuyi Tulan’s face, like a lion lurking in the shadows, joyfully eyeing its prey.

Baharo kept his eyes closed, not wanting to pay attention to this Chief Alchemist of the Alchemy Workshop. To him, the previous battle had already made him aware of too many things. He didn’t know how to judge the rights and wrongs of these things. His heart was actually conflicted and also agitated. Of course, he was also unlucky. He had many choices, but he happened to choose the most difficult one. Perhaps there was nothing at the end of this choice, and it was very likely to lead him into the valley of death. But a voice in his heart told him he must do so. There was no reason; he had to do it because the blood in his body was boiling. This was an indescribable feeling. Logically, the outcome corresponding to his choice was the worst, but he still had to do it. This was determined by something in his body, something in his blood, in his very bones. He couldn’t escape it, nor could he forget it.

Baharo took a deep breath, his memories returning to that moment, the moment he made his choice.

He would never forget that moment in his life, because it was what his blood had always pursued. Faith, for a person, is a guiding light in the dark night, a signpost on a bewildering road, an awakening word in a turbid world, the sole tenet in a confusing life. Baharo’s faith was simple and brutal, never convoluted. His faith was Equivalent Exchange. He believed that what is given should have a corresponding reward. He had heard many stories about the Glorious Seven Knights. He admired and worshipped them greatly, but he was very unwilling to accept their final outcome. He felt it was unfair. One cannot erase the results of others’ struggles just because of personal preference. This goes against the survival laws of this continent, and it’s not the world he knew. It’s wrong. So, he felt it was unimaginable that the title of the Glorious Seven Knights had been abolished. The king must have been bewitched by some monster to make such a bizarre decision. He even felt that he should vindicate the Glorious Seven Knights, to help these forgotten heroes reclaim their former glory. This idea was branded into his heart when he was very young, gradually becoming a part of his blood, gradually becoming a part of his bones. So, what kind of mood would he be in when he met one of the Glorious Seven Knights? When a dream approaches, a flame will illuminate it. This flame warms your face, causing your mind to gradually begin to change. At such times, reason does not occupy a significant position. Even if you look back at that moment years later, you still won’t feel regret or disappointment, because at that moment, you almost touched your dream. This is my dream. Even if I die on this path of struggle, I will have no regrets. After all, I almost touched it...

A small teardrop overflowed from the corner of Baharo’s eye. He hadn’t been this happy in a long, long time.

To be able to fight alongside the Glorious Seven Knights is my greatest honor; I am incomparably proud. To be able to serve the Glorious Seven Knights is the honor of my life; I am incomparably happy.

Baharo opened his eyes. He glanced at Dastan beside him, this person he worshipped, even though at this moment his appearance had become that of a monster.

No matter what, I will protect your honor. What is given should be returned. Those who have made contributions should not be forgotten by people.

Baharo was still thinking about what happened back then.

If those Alchemists hadn’t said those few extra words back then, he wouldn’t have made this choice. So, in a way, he should thank these bastards from the Alchemy Workshop.

He grinned, tears in his eyes. ”Thank you!”
