One-Eyed Monster

This idea occurred to Kadi naturally, though he himself couldn’t explain why.

With this thought, Kadi relaxed.

Firstly, night had fallen, and Kadi could no longer see Grey Eagle Peak clearly, even with his excellent vision. Secondly, he was exhausted from traveling; even if he were excited, his energy couldn’t keep up. Lastly, he had come to fully recognize his own limitations, which was, in itself, a significant realization.

Once relaxed, Kadi slowly returned to normal, and hunger crept up on him as stealthily as the night.

RUMBLE RUMBLE. Kadi’s stomach made strange noises. This didn’t affect Igor at all, who was so entranced he was seeing stars. Igor continued to appear intoxicated, his mouth open, his gaze unwavering, and a foolishly expectant look on his face.

Kadi couldn’t bear to disturb Igor’s trance-like state. He waved his blue arms in front of Igor a few times. This did not offend Igor, who merely gestured for Kadi to be quiet before continuing to eagerly await the song.

Kadi wanted to sigh but, fearing it would affect Igor, held it back. He didn’t say goodbye to Igor and turned to find something to eat.

The food they had brought from Ghost Wind Valley had all been devoured during their wanderings while lost. Luckily, they had arrived near Moonflow Stream. Kevin had said this place was teeming with life; there was sure to be plenty of edible food.

Kadi made some markings in the area but soon realized they were unreliable. As night deepened, the markings would become increasingly difficult to see. If he were slightly careless when returning, he might not spot them. If that happened, well, he could repeat his past mistakes, straying once again from the path to Moonflow Stream.

There’s no way I can make such a mistake. I’m determined to return to this place, no matter what it takes. Moonflow Stream is right before my eyes; how could I miss it?

The desire in Kadi’s heart spurred him to find a solution. Strangely enough, Kadi didn’t think of much else besides the method mentioned in Igor’s Spirit Book.

Although the method seemed foolish, it was very effective. At least it had prevented him and Igor from getting lost in Ghost Wind Valley.

Now, it was necessary to use that method again. Most of the ropes woven from vines and leaves had been burned by Igor. The remaining piece of rope had been secretly saved by Kadi.

Kadi had secretly saved the rope because he always wanted to know how it was woven. Although he couldn’t figure it out himself, and Igor hadn’t been able to explain it clearly, Kadi firmly believed that old Kevin could.

Without a second thought, Kadi took out the rope he had hidden. He swiftly tied one end around himself and the other around Igor.

Of course, he did all this stealthily. He was terrified of disturbing Igor, as he still relied on him to locate the White Swamp.

Despite Kadi’s caution, he still startled Igor. But Igor didn’t seem too upset; he just looked at Kadi with confusion before returning to his entranced state.

Kadi gestured, trying to explain the reason for the rope to Igor, but unfortunately, Igor didn’t understand. Seeing that Igor didn’t have a strong reaction, Kadi decided not to disturb his enjoyment any further.

As mentioned before, he was counting on Igor to help him find the White Swamp.

So, he had to help Igor find something to fill his stomach.

The rope was not as long as he had imagined. Kadi’s movements were greatly hindered because the other end was tied to Igor, and Igor, at that moment, was as immovable as a steadfast rock, unyielding no matter how much Kadi pulled.

Unfortunately, the rope was too short. He couldn’t walk more than a few steps before it pulled taut.

This awkward situation left Kadi unsure of what to do.

Luckily, Kadi, not being a particularly dim-witted creature, swiftly resolved this predicament.

This was because Kadi has a tail. His tail can change its length freely. But there is a condition for this ability—hearing the song of Moonflow Stream…

So, after tying the rope to his tail, Kadi also began to eagerly await Moonflow Stream’s song.

Once I hear the song, my tail can extend. Once it can extend, I can search for food in the vicinity. After finding food, I can still return.

This food will surely captivate Igor’s taste buds. Then, I can seize the opportunity to ask Igor to help me.

HEH HEH HEH HEH. Kadi wanted to laugh just thinking about it. How could I miss such a golden opportunity?

No matter the method, I must meet Guru Guru. Only after meeting him can I negotiate.

At least in the future, old Kevin won’t be baring his teeth at me anymore.

However, I’ll definitely need Igor’s help. Kadi knew this well; his plan, of course, was also well-arranged. First, I’ll bribe Igor with food. If that doesn’t work, I’ll resort to force, tying him up and making him go whether he wants to or not.

Such a tyrannical approach! He’d even thought this shameless plan through carefully. Right now, he felt like a complete scoundrel.

Regardless of whether Kadi was a scoundrel or not, Igor was utterly entranced. He didn’t speak a word and seemed to be in a stupor. Previously, his mouth would occasionally be open, just enough for others to know he was still alive. But now, he looked just like a statue, eyes shut tight, his mouth only intermittently opening and closing.

Night fell swiftly, accompanied by bone-chilling wind and hazy silver moonlight.

When the moonlight spilled down, the whole of Guru Mountain grew quiet. The babbling sounds from Moonflow Stream gradually grew louder. Sometimes, it even sounded DING DONG DING DONG, like someone ringing a small bell.

The magic of the moonlight only revealed itself at such times.

The gurgling spring water went DING DONG DING DONG, and then the sound of a lute arose to accompany it.

The lute had a joyful tone, like the satisfied smiles of many people after a fulfilling meal.

LA LA LA LA… A cheerful hum drifted through the air.

This song, ethereal, like a current of Spirit Power of Nothingness, was one that anyone could joyfully embrace.

The song was cheerful and melodious, like a sprinting youth, radiating hope and strength.

Igor, eyes closed, was thoroughly enjoying the moment.

Kadi, on the other hand, was used to it. He had heard the song many times at Grey Eagle Peak and was well acquainted with it, so he didn’t find it surprising.

At this moment, guided by the moonlight and the melodious song, Kadi was quietly venturing out. He began his search for food that could please Igor.

He had no choice. I can’t really be a scoundrel, can I? At least, the Kadi of this moment didn’t want to become one.

I want to touch Igor’s heart with my actions, just like this song, to make him indulge…
