My Talent Skill Mutated

GULP.

Watching the scene unfold, Xu Dongfeng felt his scalp tingle as the aura of death washed over him. Snapping back to his senses, he grabbed the unconscious group and fled for his life.

The Undead Flame burned. In the heart of the inferno, Chen Yu appeared.

His face was ashen. The attack had drained nearly ninety percent of his Spiritual Power.

Fortunately, his power had been enhanced back in the castle. Otherwise, this single strike would have likely knocked him unconscious.

”Two hundred million...”

”Not bad at all!”

Chen Yu was quite satisfied as he looked at the massive influx of Source of Life.

Two hundred million Source of Life. It was well worth unleashing an ultimate move.

”Hm?”

Suddenly, Chen Yu looked up into the depths of the sky, his brows furrowing. ’Looks like I made too much of a scene. I should get out of here.’

With a flicker of movement, Chen Yu vanished like a ghost.

Just as he vanished, several figures appeared high in the sky.

”Holy shit... what the hell happened here?!”

Hovering in the air, the group’s faces paled as they stared at the Undead Flame blanketing the ruined city below.

”What is this fire? Why do I get the feeling it’s extremely dangerous to one’s Spiritual Power?!”

A middle-aged man spoke, his expression grave as he watched the Undead Flame slowly fade.

The purple flames seemed capable of incinerating the very soul. Even from a kilometer up, they still felt a profound sense of dread.

”A shame we didn’t get to see it for ourselves. A terrible battle must have just taken place,” one of them sighed.

”You should be grateful you didn’t see it,” the middle-aged man said, looking at the young man who had spoken. ”An attack of this magnitude... we’d probably die just by getting close.”

”...”

---

”Sir, are you all right?”

Xu Dongfeng had just exited the Abyss and hadn’t even had a chance to catch his breath when a figure stepped through the Space-Time Gate. It was Chen Yu.

Seeing Chen Yu’s pale face, Xu Dongfeng stepped forward, his own expression filled with concern.

”I’m fine. I just used up too much energy,” Chen Yu said, shaking his head to clear the dizziness.

”Sir, I’m sorry. We ran into that monster by accident,” Xu Dongfeng said, lowering his head in embarrassment.

’He’s saved us twice!’

’The first time was a coincidence, but this second time... ’ He didn’t even know what to say.

He’d been here several times before, but he never imagined he’d run into such a terrifying monster.

If it weren’t for Chen Yu, they would have met their end here today.

Chen Yu glanced at Xu Dongfeng. ”Anything can happen in the Abyss. Don’t worry about it.”

Chen Yu had no intention of blaming them.

In fact, he was glad it had happened.

Even though it cost him ninety percent of his Spiritual Power, obtaining so much Source of Life made it all worthwhile.

”Sir, why don’t you come to my place? I have a residence in Hai City where you can recover in peace,” Xu Dongfeng said, looking at Chen Yu.

Chen Yu shook his head. ”No need. I’m staying at a friend’s place. We’ll meet again if fate wills it.”

ZZZAP!

As soon as the words were out, Chen Yu transformed into a streak of cyan lightning and vanished before his eyes.

He was gone in the blink of an eye, leaving no trace behind.

”...”

Staring at the empty spot where Chen Yu had been, Xu Dongfeng sighed internally.

’A man like that... of course I want to befriend him, but there’s just no opportunity!’

’I should get them back so they can recover.’ Calming himself, Xu Dongfeng looked at his unconscious companions, then carried them away from the island.

「Hai City Villa.」

Chen Yu went straight to bed the moment he got home.

Exhausted.

Spiritual exhaustion wasn’t something ordinary pills could fix. He could only rely on the Celestial Destiny Skill to recover.

Of course, there were other methods, such as devouring someone else’s Spiritual Power or finding one of those special black shadows from the Crystal Tower.

He didn’t know how to do the first, and as for the second, the special black shadows weren’t exactly common.

Fortunately, his Celestial Destiny Skill had reached an advanced stage, allowing it to function automatically even while he slept. Between his rest and the skill’s recovery effect, it wouldn’t take long.

...

「Early the next day.」

Chen Yu awoke from his sleep.

Thanks to the Celestial Destiny Skill’s automatic cultivation and a full night’s rest, his Spiritual Power was almost completely restored.

’The 618... That place might still hold some surprises. Yes, I should go take a look.’

After a moment of thought, Chen Yu decided not to waste any time and set off for the South Sea once more.

---

The waves churned on the boundless sea.

Deep in the South Sea, Chen Yu’s figure descended from the sky onto the island.

Without hesitation, he stepped straight into the 618 Space-Time Gate.

...

「Two days later.」

As dusk fell, Chen Yu’s figure emerged from the 618 Space-Time Gate.

’Looks like my luck has run out...’

Chen Yu sighed to himself as he looked at the sky.

He had spent two days in the 618 Abyss, but the rewards were disappointing. He’d gathered less than one hundred million Source of Life in total.

Two days of work yielded less than his first few hours there.

Encountering the Undead Flood Dragon had been a fluke.

This time, Chen Yu had barely encountered any powerful creatures.

’I wonder what the situation is like over at the Tenth Abyss...’ Chen Yu thought, gazing off into the distance.

’Forget it. I’ll head back for now and ask tomorrow.’ After a moment of consideration, Chen Yu dismissed the thought. He erupted with incredible speed, vanishing from the island in a streak of cyan lightning.

...

Back at the Hai City Villa, Chen Yu had just returned when he received a communication from the Deputy Director of the Abyssal Administration Bureau.

”Director Li, what’s the situation?” Chen Yu asked after accepting the call.

”There’s been a change in the situation. I’m afraid entry will be impossible for the time being.”

Director Li’s voice came from the other end of the wrist device.
