Our Family Has Fallen

The Flying Dagger undoubtedly plunged into the Limping Walker. It was such a large target she could hit it even with her eyes closed, and the Curse Magic attached to it erupted simultaneously.

Amanda’s strength was no simple matter; even the Limping Walker, a Void Demon, couldn’t resist her Curse Magic.

This, combined with the previous instance, meant it wasn’t just one or two times. Now, the effects were starting to show: the Limping Walker’s condition was visibly deteriorating rapidly.

Seeing this, a smile inevitably formed on Amanda’s face. That’s all there is to it!

But this also provoked the Limping Walker’s fury. It suddenly raised its head, its gaping mouth split open, emitting a low but heavy sound, like the deep bellow of a whale.

A dirge that stirred the darkness!

Lance could actually see dark sound waves spreading, as if the Void itself was disturbed, creating ripples.

”Run!”

Lance instinctively realized something was wrong and shouted, but his warning was too slow.

The sound wave, which was merely a gentle breeze to Lance, struck Amanda the instant it swept past her. Her vision went black, her ears roared, and then she couldn’t hear anything at all. All that emerged was an almost suffocating sense of oppression, as if her soul was being expelled from her body and falling into the endless Void.

The smile on her face hadn’t even faded before it was replaced by terror in an instant.

Almost simultaneously, Lance cast Bless, snatching her soul back from the Void’s grasp.

The mournful wail spread out, affecting everyone else to varying degrees.

However, they were farther away and, having heard Lance’s warning, were prepared. A firm will could resist erosion from the Void, not to mention the support from Lance’s Bless.

Boudica quickly shook off the disorienting effect, only her bloodshot eyes revealing the pressure she had endured.

Alhazred, standing farthest away, also freed himself from the Limping Walker’s dirge. He looked ahead, a touch of worry in his eyes.

To deal with that Void Demon, I’ll have to get tough!

Alhazred didn’t hesitate long. He immediately pulled the Sacrificial Dagger from his waist and slashed it across his palm. Blood instantly surged forth.

But he paid no mind to this, letting the blood flow while chanting something, as a mysterious power began to emerge.

There are no offerings here for me to gain Unfettered Strength... So, I will use myself as the sacrifice.

Soon, Alhazred had completed the prerequisites. A potent force filled him, suppressing the ominous presence within.

He sheathed the Dagger and raised his hand, summoning the Skull Candleholder back into his grasp. He paid no mind as his blood stained it, instead focusing his gaze upward towards the vast, starry Void, as if searching for something…

Amanda was lost in a momentary daze, but the next second, an inexplicable surge of power within her dispelled the haze over her mind, rendering her thoughts clearer than ever before.

But the Limping Walker wasn’t just going to watch. Its grotesquely shaped body slithered forward, turning to charge at Amanda.

Lance noticed this and swung his blade at the Limping Walker, trying to draw its hatred back to himself.

Amanda’s Curse Magic had indeed weakened the Limping Walker. Its twisted flesh was no longer as tough as before, and each of Lance’s cuts inflicted considerable damage.

However, wounds that would be fatal to a human were merely superficial to the Limping Walker’s enormous body.

Yet, compared to Lance, who had left countless scars on its body, it obviously hated Amanda more for weakening it with her Curse Magic.

Just as Amanda was regaining her senses, she saw the tentacle swinging towards her and was instantly startled!

Just moments ago, Boudica had nearly been killed by a tentacle as thick as an arm; this one was at least twice that size.

If it hit her... that steel Great Shield, torn in two, was the perfect example of what would happen.

No!

The Seeker of Omens’ agile figure was already making a tactical retreat, but evading the encircling tentacles seemed... difficult.

And just at that moment, the Void shook—not a mere sensation, but a tangible tremor that interrupted the actions of both Lance and the Limping Walker.

What happened? What could shake the Void itself?

Lance looked up sharply, only then realizing a Meteorite wreathed in Dark Flame was being pulled from the Void.

The object was too fast; no one had time to react. Even with Lance’s speed, he only caught a fleeting glimpse.

Because the instant he looked up, it magnified enormously in the next second, crashing down right in front of him.

Burning Starfall!

The instantly triggered shockwave knocked back Lance, who was closest. More accurately, it blew him completely off his feet, sending him flying.

By the time he recovered, he found himself sitting on the ground.

He instinctively stood up, patted his face and body, and breathed a sigh of relief only after confirming nothing was missing.

Lance’s solemn expression hadn’t faded. A faint trace of panic, emerging for an instant, was quickly suppressed. He didn’t know when this emotion had first surfaced.

He hadn’t been afraid even when facing the Limping Walker directly, confident he could withstand it.

But that impact just now had indeed made him feel a strong threat—death!

Because if that thing had hit him, it truly could have killed him.

Fortunately, the attack hadn’t been aimed at him. Yet, this was merely the aftershock, and just being caught in its periphery had left him in such a sorry state.

Lance’s emotions calmed, and he finally looked up at the scene before him.

The Meteorite’s target was the Limping Walker. Unfortunately, it hadn’t landed precisely on its head but had grazed past.

Nevertheless, its incredible power had smashed through half of the Limping Walker’s massive body. Large chunks of flesh were crushed into pulp, lying in the crater the impact had created.

The severed limbs and shredded flesh showed no signs of regenerating as they had before, because the flesh and blood in the crater were now burning with Dark Flame.

In the middle of the crater, partially covered by a pile of mangled flesh, the head-sized Meteorite, still burning with Dark Flame, emitted wisps of strange black smoke.

Is that thing really a Meteorite?

Why do I feel like it’s alive?

What on earth had been dragged down?

But even after all that, the Limping Walker wasn’t dead. Its head, now lying on the ground, emitted mournful groans.

Lance, however, could see that its death was inevitable; it was merely clinging to its last vestiges of life.

This scene shocked not only Lance. Amanda, on the other side, had also been knocked away by the aftershock but was fortunately not seriously injured.

Boudica, being a bit farther away, hadn’t fallen, but judging by the way she unsteadily propped herself up with her weapon, she was close to collapsing.

Naturally, all eyes turned to the one remaining person on the field who could have done this…

The Mystical Scholar—Alhazred.

He was the only one on the field capable of unleashing such an attack.

Lance and the others had used all their tricks, enduring great hardship just to wear the Limping Walker down somewhat. They had thought they would have to continue the fight, slowly chipping away at its health.

No one had expected Alhazred to pull a Meteorite directly from the Void, grievously wounding the Limping Walker with a single move and completely changing the situation.

But Alhazred’s condition was far from good; he had paid a considerable price for that one move.

He was visibly weakened. The wound on his hand was now burning with Dark Flame, and signs of rot were already beginning to appear.

Lance noticed and immediately cast Bless to dispel the Dark Flame, then Flesh Reconstruction to heal the wound. Only then did Alhazred’s complexion improve slightly.

Alhazred didn’t say much, but the support from his Lord allowed him to relax slightly. Otherwise, he would have had to pay an even greater price to deal with these aftereffects himself.

After similarly aiding the other two, Lance turned his attention back to the Limping Walker.

However, he didn’t move to finish off the Limping Walker. Instead, he asked a question.

”How do we get back?”

This was Lance’s main concern. They had arrived in this place inexplicably, and he wasn’t certain if killing the Limping Walker was the key to returning. If they killed it only to end up stranded in the Void, they would be utterly doomed... A fissure between worlds was not something ordinary mortals could endure.
