The morning sun rose over the snow-dusted stone ramparts of the citadel, melting mountain frost into glistening droplets.

Sagiri walked along the peaceful garden terrace, breathing in crisp pine air and listening to distant laughter from the banquet halls.

The Five Relics within his bloodstream pulsed in steady harmony, no longer generating friction against his mortal vessel.

He stopped beside a low granite balustrade overlooking northern pine valleys, enjoying the rare solitude after days of negotiations.

A soft, rhythmic rustling sound broke the morning quiet from the stone walkway behind him.

Sagiri did not need to reach for Nokai; the familiar scent of mountain predator scales announced his visitor.

Walking out from the shadow of the stone arches was Gavina, the niece and direct chosen heir of Kun Nakia Zawadi.

She was dressed in the sleek red-and-black combat uniform of Kafika Academy, with dark predator-scaled bracers bound along her forearms.

During the continental war, Gavina and the Kafika first squad had fought ferociously on the treacherous western ridges.

They had held the narrow Obsidian Cleft against three battalions of Lanka’s bio-beast shock troops with coordinated venom traps and fierce raptor charges.

The brutal frontier campaign had tempered her spirit, sharpening her formidable martial prowess into that of a seasoned commander.

Her movements were smooth, predatory, and silent, carrying the dangerous elegance that defined the elite huntresses of Sawaka.

Coiled gracefully around Gavina’s shoulders was her beloved hunting snake, which had grown colossal over the past two years.

The creature’s emerald scales were thick as tempered armor plating, its slit eyes flicking lazily in the mountain breeze.

Gavina had grown into a tall, striking young woman, her long dark hair tied in a practical warrior’s braid.

Her posture was relaxed yet coiled with lethal predator energy, her dark eyes flashing with sharp, mischievous pride.

“Sneaking away from your own victory party, Supreme Chief?” Gavina asked, leaning against a carved stone pillar with a confident smirk.

“Your northern brother Kaka is currently challenging five jarls to an arm-wrestling contest.”

“Kaka has enough energy to drink with an entire mountain,” Sagiri replied with a faint smile.

“I needed a moment of quiet to let the air settle.”

Gavina stepped closer, her leather boots making no sound against the flagstones.

Her emerald hunting beast raised its head, letting out a soft hiss as it rested its chin against her collarbone.

“My aunt told me about the Treaty of the Five Sands,” Gavina said, crossing her arms over her chest.

“She said the South and the West are officially brothers now, which means our old academy rivalries are supposed to be buried.”

“The treaty opens our roads and heals the realm,” Sagiri answered calmly.

“It gives every tribe the chance to live and trade without fear.”

Gavina tilted her head, her dark eyes gleaming with an amused, probing light as she looked him up and down.

“So tell me, Sagiri… now that the war is won and the world is peaceful, are you ready to marry me?”

Sagiri blinked, maintaining his calm expression despite the sudden question.

“I do not wish to marry you, Gavina.”

“So proud,” Gavina scoffed playfully, clicking her tongue with an exaggerated shake of her head.

“I would have treated you very well, Last Keeper. You would have had the finest hunting raptors and personal war panthers in Sawaka.”

“I am the Supreme Chief of the South,” Sagiri explained in his usual serious tone.

“I have responsibilities to N’folu and the southern tribes. I cannot marry into the Tsanka clan and move to the western mountains.”

Gavina burst into a loud, ringing laugh, throwing her head back until her hunting beast twitched its tail in surprise.

“By the ancestors, Sagiri! I was only playing with you! You are still far too serious!”

She shook her head with genuine amusement, her laughter echoing off the granite walls of the terrace.

“The entire continent bows to you as a living legend, yet you still talk like an instructor reading from an official military manual.”

Sagiri looked at her, a quiet, amused smile finally touching his own lips.

“You have not changed at all since the exam halls of Galka, Gavina.”

“Why should I change?” Gavina grinned proudly, running a hand along the smooth scales of her beast.

“Peace is fine for farmers and merchants, but a western huntress must never lose her teeth.”

Her expression softened slightly, replaced by the profound recognition of one warrior acknowledging another.

She placed her right fist over her chest, bowing her head in a formal western salute.

“When I take my aunt’s place and become the Kun of the West, you better come to my coronation too,” Gavina said with fierce conviction.

“And you better bring that colossal ancient desert beast of yours with you.”

“I will be there, Gavina,” Sagiri promised with a respectful nod.

“I give you my word as Supreme Chief.”

Gavina smiled, turning on the heel of her high combat boots and strolling toward the far end of the terrace.

Standing by the stone gate were her two lifelong squadmates: Pavire of the Anku eagle-tamer clan and the fierce Teshini huntress.

Pavire held a colossal hunting raptor upon her heavy leather gauntlet, its razor-sharp curved talons reflecting the morning sunlight.

Beside her, the Teshini huntress leaned casually against the gatepost, the gleaming steel blade-extensions along her fingertips clicking together rhythmically.

“Did you manage to tame the great Keeper of the South, Gavina?” Pavire called out with a teasing smirk.

“Not today, Pavire,” Gavina laughed back, stepping up beside her friends.

“He is far too stubborn and serious to live in our mountains, but he promised to attend my coronation.”

“A pity,” the Teshini huntress chuckled, clicking her blade claws together with a sharp ring.

“He would have looked magnificent in Tsanka hunting furs.”

All three of the Kafika girls turned around together in matching red-and-black uniforms, looking back at Sagiri across the sunlit terrace.

Their predatory stances and fierce grins showed they were still as wild, competitive, and feral as ever.

Their hunting beasts had grown into massive apex predators, standing proudly beside their handlers as living proof of western dominance.

The three huntresses raised their hands in a unified, mocking salute, flashing sharp grins before stepping through the stone archway.

Sagiri watched their sleek figures disappear down the mountain path, letting out a soft, amused breath.

He turned back toward the snow-capped horizon, ready to rejoin his companions and walk into the bright dawn of Tasaka.
