Lust System: Harem Of Beautiful Women

Chapter 588  Darian

As soon as they sat down at the table, Luis couldnʼt help but reveal a lecherous smile.

Glancing around the room in the evening, he saw that Hela was dressed beautifully and strikingly, but she was too busy attending to relatives to be able to get away, so Luis didnʼt go over to disturb her.

At this table, however, there was another familiar face, Brook, a stunning woman whom Nancy would have to call sister-in-law.

The most crucial part was that her husband, her cousin Darian, was sitting right there beside her, and Luis couldnʼt help but observe this cuckold.

Darian wasnʼt tall either. It seemed like either a genetic mutation or a bloodline issue in their family. The previous generation were all big and tall, but by the next generation, regardless of gender, none of them were tall; in fact, they could even be called short.

Daniel wasnʼt exactly physically impressive either, but at least he was slick and well-groomed. Coupled with his lazy demeanor, he was every inch a rich young master, which was how he managed to deceive his sister-in-law.

But this Darian was a different story. Calling him sly and rat-like wasnʼt an exaggeration at all. There wasnʼt a single hint of menace about him. Just sitting there, you could tell he was a contemptible sort.

As soon as he sat down, his speech was laced with a mindlessly arrogant and provocative tone, the kind that made it hard not to notice him, even if you tried.

Some time ago, this idiot got into a fight with someone after drinking, and with no sense of restraint, he ended up getting locked up. At least they managed to bail him out in time for this big housewarming day, though who knows how much money that cost.

Brook sat next to him, acting affectionately, but in reality, she paid him no attention at all.

According to Hela, the coupleʼs relationship had long since fallen apart. Whether they had children or not was irrelevant. The main issue was that this cousin was a piece of work himself.

Equally idle and lazy, he was particularly adept at stirring up trouble. Over the years, all the money his father had earned had been squandered by him. If it were just eating, drinking, whoring, and gambling, that might be one thing, but the constant troublemaking was unbearable.

It was said his father was also extremely wealthy, a shrewd businessman dealing in the jadeite trade.

People in the jadeite business were all tough cookies, but being tough didnʼt necessarily mean you made money. His father was one of those who was both ruthless and clever.

In the early years, he ran a gambling rough stone business. Honestly, in that line of work, anyone who could successfully cut open a promising stone was a real expert, and his father was one of them. Plus, he ran the business well and didnʼt gamble himself, so he indeed raked in a fortune.

When it came to building this manor, his father contributed the largest share. Although the business isnʼt doing well now and nobody really gambles on rough stones anymore, a lean camel is still bigger than a horse.

The most consistent thing was definitely this son, a standard prodigal son who had done every kind of absurd thing imaginable.

They had originally hoped heʼd settle down after marriage, but now itʼs clear they were completely wrong. The guy was always out eating, drinking, and whoring. Brook not divorcing him was already a face-saving gesture for her in-laws.

Darian took a big gulp of his drink and said with a hint of disdain, ”Daniel, look at the business youʼve chosen. Whatʼs the point of opening some lousy bar? You work yourself to death, swallow your pride, and for what?”

”That little bit of money you earn, what can it even do?!”

His family was the wealthiest. In the past, Daniel might have just tolerated it.

But now, Danielʼs temper wouldnʼt let him indulge this. He gave a cold smirk and said, ”Big brother, itʼs still better than having nothing to do, isnʼt it? At least I run my own business and manage to make a bit.”

”Thatʼs not even real money! Blood money or just hard-earned cash?”

Darian said boorishly, ”Only useless people earn that kind of money. Iʼve always said you just donʼt get the importance of connections and vision.”

”Come on, come on, have a drink!”

Seeing an argument brewing, Brook quickly lifted her glass to intervene, a helpless, wry smile on her face.

Daniel wasnʼt about to give her any face, but then she looked towards Luis. Luis casually raised his glass, ”Letʼs just drink, letʼs just drink. Weʼll set all that aside for now.”

Seeing this, Daniel did shut up for his sake, but Darian just gave a disdainful snort, ”So this is your brother-in-law, huh? That live-in son-in-law, right? What kind of pathetic thing is that?”

”What real man would become a live-in son-in-law? Thatʼs even worse than a eunuch. At least eunuchs served the emperor.”

Luis was certain he had never done anything to offend this guy, but the guyʼs mouth was unbelievably foul. Launching into such a blanket attack was uncalled for.

At this point, it was clear which side everyone was on. Luis and his brother-in-law Daniel were in the same boat, and there was no way they were going to swallow this insult.

The moment Darian said this, the table fell into an immediate, tense silence. Everyone frowned, thinking he had gone too far.

Luis, however, raised his glass, maintaining a smile as he said, ”Cousin is right. But to be a live-in son-in-law, you at least need to look presentable. Looking at your, shall we say, ʼuniqueʼ features, itʼs clear you just donʼt have the looks for the job.”

”As for me, Iʼm lucky enough to have a decent face and body. When I was younger, I was almost tricked into becoming a male prostitute. Luckily, I didnʼt go down that wrong path, but thinking back, I guess I do have some assets.”

”Lifeʼs not too bad now. I donʼt rely on my parents or my in-laws, and I still have some decent money to spend.”

”Honestly, I do envy you a bit. You have nothing to do but never lack for cash. Having good parents really is important. As for whether the son is actually human or not, well, thatʼs not really my place to say.”

A snort escaped Nancy, who burst out laughing. Her sister-in-lawʼs straightforwardness had always been her best quality.

This remark was a direct insult to Darianʼs appearance. Normally, by a certain age, people might not care about such things, but to disregard wealth and target that was a real low blow.

Coupled with the jibe about living off his parents, which was deeply insulting to his pride. If it bothered Daniel in the past, it certainly bothered Darian now. Darianʼs face immediately turned incredibly ugly.

Brook was even more embarrassed, but the look in her eyes clearly blamed her own husband for his reckless and offensive words.

”Oh, by the way, cousin, when are you getting a new car?”

Her sister-in-law Nancy also felt a sense of relief, asking with an innocent expression, ”Last time you mentioned switching to a Ferrari. That was the year before last, right? Still not done with it?”

”That oneʼs a no-go. Mainly, importing is a hassle. Money isnʼt the issue, but things like license plates are a real pain.”

”You know how there are speed limits everywhere here, plus the terrible road conditions. Even on the highway, itʼs easy to scrape the bottom...”

Luis figured it out now. Daniel and Darian didnʼt get along. Since his sister-in-law Nancy had married Daniel, she naturally had to take a clear stand and support her husband.

Brook, on the other hand, seemed completely indifferent, just anxious and afraid her husband would cause more trouble, her face fixed in a helpless, bitter smile.

Luis remembered Hela mentioning that Brook came from a very simple background, just a poor girl from an ordinary family in the same village.

Marrying Darian was purely a desperate move, the kind where her family was waiting for money to pay for medical treatment. A completely clichéd and melodramatic situation.

Right after the wedding, Darian was happy for a while, but he quickly reverted to his prodigal ways of eating, drinking, and whoring, practically ignoring Brook completely.

Her father-in-law was in another city dealing in jadeite, her mother-in-law ran a small business, and with her father-in-law also having a mistress, the household was a mess.

Her husband was almost never home. After they failed to have children, a check-up revealed the issue was with Darian. This only made him give up completely, and he was practically never seen.
