Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 747: Chapter 385: Great-Aunt’s Instructions

Qingmu said to his uncles, ”What’s the big deal? Why are you all arguing like this and making a spectacle for outsiders to laugh at? Great-Aunt hasn’t even been buried yet. Aren’t you afraid of breaking her heart? I can’t believe Great-Aunt never said how her things should be divided. Even if she passed suddenly and didn’t leave instructions, you should just follow what she always said. What is there to fight about? You’ve been arguing for so long—have you not noticed someone is instigating things, hoping your fight gets worse? I doubt anyone would have dared meddle in the Yu Family’s business like this when Great-Aunt was alive.”

The group of simple, honest men finally came to their senses. They exchanged ashamed glances, thinking, ’If Mother were here, who would dare make a peep? The Yu Family has no elder left. Mother was the most senior elder in the family. With her gone, of course things would fall into chaos.’

Then someone else shouted angrily, ”Are you two little brats making snide remarks? Who’s an outsider? You’re the outsiders! Since when is the Old Yu Family’s business...”

Zhang Huai raised his voice. ”Of course outsiders shouldn’t interfere in the Yu Family’s business. We were just trying to get them to stop fighting. But you? Even if your surname is Yu, you’re not part of their immediate family. What are you doing here, pointing fingers and bossing people around? Don’t tell me you think you’re getting a share of what’s inside?”

Qingmu stared at a short man in the crowd. ”You’re up to no good. What are you really trying to do? Is that how you stop a fight? You’re clearly just trying to cause trouble.”

A grandson from the Yu family, about Qingmu’s age, said angrily, ”I’ve seen for a while that Second Uncle and Sixth Uncle are up to no good! They’ve been provoking my own second and third uncles to argue with my dad. They’re just stirring up trouble because my grandma’s gone, aren’t they?”

The talk of all these uncles made Juhua’s head spin. ’So many different kinds of uncles!’

Before the short man could speak, Huai Zi cut in. ”We don’t really understand all the schemes going on here. But you Uncles should stop and think: what has this person been like in the past? How did Great-Aunt treat him? You’ve all been so busy arguing that you’ve made Great-Aunt angry. The oil lamp in the mourning hall was smashed.”

Hearing this, Zheng Changhe and the others were stunned and stared at one another.

Qingmu said, ”I think you Uncles should go directly to the mourning hall. Divide the property as you see fit right in front of Great-Aunt. No outsiders are allowed to interfere. Anyone who says a word is deliberately causing trouble for the Yu Family and trying to sow discord among you siblings.”

This time, those people didn’t dare to make a peep. However, someone spoke up. ”The oil lamp just fell over. How can you say Third Aunt is angry? You’re just spouting nonsense.”

Huai Zi had great faith in Juhua, so he stared at the man and said, ”We can all go see for ourselves if it’s true or not, can’t we?”

Qingmu’s uncles were all jolted back to their senses. Filled with fear, they rushed to the mourning hall, knelt in a row before the coffin, and began muttering endless apologies.

Juhua followed them over. She saw the mourning hall was as quiet as ever, with only a single oil lamp burning silently. The person who had been sleeping there was now awake. He was a young man, likely another one of Great-Aunt’s grandsons.

Seeing the brothers kowtow countless times with nothing unusual happening, people began to sneer. ”And they said Third Aunt’s spirit had appeared. They’re treating you like children, and you actually believed them?”

Before the words were even out of his mouth, a grim, chilly gust of wind blew in. Everyone’s hair stood on end. As they all looked around nervously, the man who had just spoken stammered, ”The d-door... the door wasn’t... wasn’t closed properly!”

Juhua had a sudden flash of inspiration. ’I have to give them a real scare today,’ she thought. She knelt and shouted, ”Great-Aunt, I brought everyone here just as you asked! But my uncles are still angry, and the troublemakers haven’t given up! They don’t respect you at all!”

Having said her piece, she waited for the wind.

To her surprise, she waited for a long time, but nothing happened. Everyone stared at her, confused.

The eldest of the Yu brothers frowned and asked, ”Whose child are you, and what nonsense are you spouting? When did my mother ever give you instructions?”

Juhua could only stare, speechless. Huai Zi quickly came forward, took her hand, and knelt beside her.

Zheng Changhe and Qingmu also stepped forward. Zheng Changhe said, ”Eldest Cousin, this is my daughter, Juhua. I think... she just misses her great-aunt terribly...”

”Hahaha... What a load of crap! All I hear is your family spouting nonsense, yet you claim we’re the ones causing trouble. I’d say it’s your Zheng Family that’s looking for a fight...”

He had just gotten to that point when another eerie wind gusted through. The words caught in his throat, and he couldn’t speak another syllable. But that wasn’t all. The other lamp on the altar was also blown over. With a CLANG, it struck the coffin lid, rolled onto the floor, and the flame sputtered out, plunging the mourning hall into total darkness.

This time, chaos erupted.

”Mother! Mother’s angry! Oh, Mother, I was wrong...” These were the cries of the Yu brothers as they kowtowed and wept.

Someone else’s teeth were chattering so hard they went CLACK-CLACK-CLACK. ”Th-Third... A-Aunt... I was wrong. I shouldn’t... shouldn’t have stirred up trouble. Please, don’t come for me... Th-Third... Aunt.”
