Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 277: Chapter 149: Misunderstanding

Master Yun and Qin Feng analyzed the technique of artificial respiration, concluding that this method of ”transferring qi” had considerable merit. A person who had just drowned might not be truly dead, but rather in a state of apparent death, which was why this method could bring them back.

After marveling at the concept for a moment, he asked how the medicine he’d sent for Juhua last time had worked.

With a heavy heart, Qin Feng described Juhua’s reaction to the medicine. He still found it hard to recall the sight of the skin on her face peeling and curling back.

But Master Yun stamped his foot and sighed. ”Ai! You were far too careless. If I’m not mistaken, one of two things was happening. Either the poison was being completely purged, and she would have been cured with a little more persistence, or the poison was being drawn to the surface, which would have required a different medicine to treat. By stopping when you got scared, you rendered the entire effort for naught.”

Qin Feng replied helplessly, ”I couldn’t be sure. The wound is on her face. If I had ruined it, wouldn’t that have been a terrible sin? At least this way, there’s still hope for a cure, isn’t there?”

Master Yun looked at his disciple and sighed to himself. ’He still lacks experience.’

Qin Feng then asked, ”So how should we treat her scar now?”

Master Yun stroked his beard and chuckled. ”With all the fine things you acquired today, are you still worried you can’t cure her? Although the last treatment was a failure, it did have some effect. The next round won’t need to be as complicated. Later, I’ll prepare an antidote for her. Once she uses that and the rough skin forms a scab and falls away, she can use the beauty-enhancing medicine. We’ll use these pearls to make some beauty cream, and with the addition of those two bottles of Clear Condensing Dew, I guarantee her face will be spotless in a year.”

Qin Feng breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. ”That would put my mind at ease. Once her facial wound is healed, she’ll be able to marry a man she desires and won’t have to endure constant ridicule.”

Master Yun nodded with a smile. ”You learned that qi-transferring technique from her, so we certainly should thank her properly and show our gratitude. Both the antidote and the beauty-enhancing medicine are still missing some ingredients. We’ll need to gather them before I can prepare the formulas. Hmph. Those people pester me all day long. I’ll just get what I need from them.”

Qin Feng knew he was talking about the high officials and nobles of Yunzhou City, so he just smiled and nodded. Then he asked, ”Master, why did you come down from the mountain and decide to live here in the city? Don’t you hate having to deal with these people?”

Master Yun pursed his lips and said helplessly, ”If I stay up on the mountain, ordinary people won’t travel so far to see me, and I get terribly bored. I don’t have the energy to roam around like I used to, so I had no choice but to come down and open this Jishi Hall. I treat the sick and, while I’m at it, ’rob the rich to help the poor.’ It makes for a reasonably interesting life.”

Hearing his master’s words, Qin Feng couldn’t help but laugh out loud. ’The old man still has the same personality.’

The master and disciple chatted and laughed for a while before retiring for the night.

「Over the next few days.」

True to his word, Master Yun procured a number of precious medicinal ingredients from those high officials and nobles.

He didn’t go to their homes to ask for them. Instead, while treating them, he would put on a grave act, rattling off some complex medical jargon before producing a long list. He would claim he needed these specific ingredients to prepare their medicine. If they could gather everything, there was hope for a cure. If they couldn’t, well, sorry, but this old man’s hands were tied.

Those people would immediately scramble, offering huge sums of money to find every last item, and would then hurriedly deliver the complete set to him.

As for how Master Yun prepared the medicine or in what quantities—anyone who wasn’t afraid of his temper was free to ask. Of course, after asking, they could forget about ever having him treat them again.

Once he had all the ingredients, Master Yun began preparing the antidote and the beauty cream, leaving the daily tasks of running Jishi Hall and treating patients to Qin Feng.

Yun Ying was thrilled to be managing Jishi Hall and treating patients alongside her Senior Brother, aside from one small, nagging feeling in her heart. However, spending her days chatting and laughing with him, and seeing how gentle he was with her, she gradually began to forget about that little worry.

But one day, while Master Yun was preparing the antidote, he began questioning Qin Feng in detail about Juhua’s reaction to the medicine last year, the state of her pulse, and so on. The two of them discussed it at length before jointly deciding on the combination of ingredients and the dosage for the antidote.

Yun Ying was stunned. Her father and her Senior Brother were going to such great lengths to create a medicine for this Juhua. And from the way her Senior Brother was talking, once it was ready, he intended to deliver it to that Juhua personally.

For a moment, she was completely at a loss.

As the daughter of a medical sage, Yun Ying was very popular among the young ladies of Yunzhou City. This wasn’t just because of her father’s reputation, but because she herself understood medicine and was beautiful, kind, and innocent. All the young ladies loved to spend time with her. After all, if one of them felt unwell, it was far more convenient to consult her than a male doctor, wasn’t it?
