Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 164: Chapter 92: Teaching Laicai a Lesson

Juhua saw his sly little look. ’If I back down even a little,’ she thought, ’I’ll never get him under control today.’ So, she unceremoniously swung the ruler and smacked it hard against his bottom. As she struck him, she yelled, ”No crying! If you dare cry, you won’t get any dinner tonight. Or you can just get lost and go home.”

She’d been wanting to smack him for a while now. ’This kid is just asking for it! He’s wearing his thick, padded winter clothes anyway, so it won’t do any real harm.’ In fact, what she really wanted was to pull his pants down and smack his bare bottom a few times. Otherwise, he’d never learn his lesson.

Laicai had never been hit like this before.

Even though he was wearing thick winter clothes, he could feel that Juhua was putting all her strength into it. It was completely different from the light taps his grandma gave him. If it weren’t for all the layers, his butt would have been in for a world of hurt.

He was about to burst out crying, but when he heard he wouldn’t get dinner and would be kicked out, he quickly held it back. He wasn’t a fool. ’Sister Juhua is really hitting me! She isn’t afraid of Mom or Grandma, and Auntie protects her, too. She might actually kick me out!’

Poor Laicai couldn’t stop the tears but didn’t dare wail aloud. Holding it back like that, he was reduced to choked sobs and hiccups. He stared in terror at Juhua holding the ruler high, desperately trying to stifle his cries.

Juhua held the ruler aloft, cocked her head, and glared at him. ”No crying! Swallow those tears. Or else I’ll aim for your head.”

Laicai was so frightened that he stumbled back two steps, clamping a hand over his mouth and staring in horror at his ugly sister.

Now that she had the boy cowed, Juhua patted Laishou’s head. ”Laishou is such a good boy,” she said to him. ”Sister Juhua loves good children like you and can’t stand naughty ones who chase chickens and dogs. Sister Juhua knows how to make all sorts of delicious food, and I’ll give them all to Laishou and Laishou alone.” ’You’re greedy, so I’ll use food to control you.’

Laishou giggled happily. ”Candy! Eat candy!”

”I’ll get you some candy in a bit,” Juhua cooed.

She saw Laicai staring at her with pleading eyes, teardrops still clinging to his lashes. In a cold voice, she asked, ”Are you going to behave from now on? Do you still dare to disobey me? Hmph! I’ll just go and tell Grandma that you’re not allowed at my house anymore, only Laishou.”

Laicai finally caved. With a choked sob, he said, ”Sister Juhua, I... I’ll be good... Is... is that okay?”

”Hmph,” Juhua snorted. ”A leopard can’t change its spots. If you could change that easily, pigs might fly. But I’m not worried. I hit you once, and I’ll do it again. You misbehave, I’ll hit you every single time you come over. And another thing—if you ever dare to chase my little Black Dog again, I swear I’ll skin you alive.”

She was in the middle of viciously lecturing the now meek-as-a-bride Laicai when she suddenly noticed Qingmu standing by the door, watching her with an amused expression. ’When did Juhua get so formidable? That Laicai is notoriously difficult.’

Seeing her brother, Juhua wasn’t embarrassed in the slightest. On the contrary, she waved him in and asked pointedly, ”Brother, we agreed, didn’t we? If Laicai dares to act up again, we’ll kick him out, no matter who pleads for him.” As she spoke, she shot Qingmu a meaningful look.

Qingmu wiped the smile from his face, his expression hardening as he feigned anger. ”I wanted to thrash him at lunch, but I held back since everyone was eating. If he dares try that again, I’ll just grab him and toss him out.” As he spoke, he turned and shut the door, looking for all the world like he was about to start swinging.

His stern expression was far more intimidating than Juhua’s.

Seeing his tall cousin get angry too, Laicai grew even more frightened and heartbroken. ’When has anyone ever disciplined me like this? Don’t the grown-ups always give in the moment I start crying? It looks like my cousins aren’t going to let me off the hook today.’

Seeing the tears streaming down the boy’s face, Qingmu barked, ”What are you crying for? I haven’t even hit you yet. You keep crying, and I’ll give you a real reason to.” With that, he started looking around for something to use.

Juhua quickly played along and handed him the ruler.

Qingmu froze for a second, suppressing a laugh as he took it. Before he could even lift it, Laicai wailed, ”Brother Qingmu, I’ll never do it again! I’ll be good from now on, I won’t chase the dog anymore! Sob... I’m not crying anymore.” Juhua shot him a glare, and his voice immediately died down.

He stood there ramrod straight, not daring to fidget, his right foot resting anxiously on top of his left. He clutched the hem of his shirt with one hand, while the other kept sneaking up to wipe away his tears. Though he obviously didn’t dare to cry aloud, the tears just wouldn’t stop. He was utterly terrified!

Laishou pointed at him and cried out, ”Brother, crying... crying...”

Juhua hugged him and said, ”Your brother is shameless, crying when he’s such a big boy. Laishou is the best boy—” She then turned to the sniffling Laicai. ”Go on, go tell your mom. Tell her that Sister Juhua and Brother Qingmu both hit you. Have your mom come find us. We can have a huge scene, and it will be the perfect chance for me to tell Grandma that from now on, Laicai isn’t welcome here. If she wants to bring someone, she can only bring Laishou.”
