The Villainess Just Wants to Clear the Game

Chapter 86: Chapter 13: How Could She Be So Skilled?!

Perhaps it was possible.

Veronica followed the instructions, placed the seed on the ground, and stepped back a meter.

The Great Mage before them could clearly accomplish this with ease; otherwise, he wouldn’t have set it as today’s assessment.

But for those of them who had only passed the Second Order Mage assessment at best...

It was far too difficult.

Veronica took a deep breath, selecting the most basic Magic she was familiar with.

She had never done this kind of training before, but she wasn’t stupid. Since she needed to strictly control the input of Magic Power, the more basic the Magic and the fewer Elemental Particles it triggered, the more likely the test would succeed.

Veronica had never felt that using Magic was such a difficult task.

She controlled her Magic Power output with extreme caution. Fine beads of sweat seeped from her forehead, yet she didn’t dare distract herself in the slightest.

Slowly, the seed inside the Demon Crystal sensed the Magic Power, gradually sprouting, branching, and growing.

Beside her, Leo took two steps forward, just wanting to sneak a close look at the flow of Magic Power, when he heard a muffled BANG.

The Demon Crystal exploded.

The tiny sapling, less than ten centimeters tall, was blown beyond recognition and shattered into pieces by the violent Magic Power. Even putting that aside, it looked somewhat stunted, likely due to a choppy input of Magic Power.

Veronica fell silent for a moment, then looked up at Victor. ”I think I’ve gotten the hang of it. Please let me try again.”

”Everyone gets one chance,” Victor said indifferently. ”Next.”

At that moment, even Veronica found it hard to stay calm. ”Only one chance?”

She argued her case. ”Mr. Rockwell, we have never been exposed to this kind of training before. Isn’t a single attempt a bit too harsh?”

Victor completely ignored her, repeating, ”Next.”

Veronica furrowed her brows.

She swallowed the words, ”It’s impossible for anyone to do this,” and silently stepped back a few paces.

Leo, somewhat apprehensive, took her place, and the result went without saying.

He didn’t even manage to make the seed sprout before the Demon Crystal exploded in a tragic display.

Unlike the calm Veronica, Leo tried to defend himself after the explosion, only to be shut down by Victor’s icy attitude.

He retreated to Veronica’s side, watching Chris step forward, and crossed his arms in sheer indignation. ”How could anyone possibly pass such a difficult test!”

Veronica remained impassive on the surface, but secretly agreed.

For once, she shared the same view as her foolish younger brother.

”And earlier, insisting we go retrieve that illegitimate child... Does he really want to teach us Magic? I think he’s deliberately making things difficult for us!”

As soon as Leo finished speaking, Chris predictably failed as well.

Chris lowered his head and murmured an apology. Victor gave a slight nod, gesturing for him to step aside.

Lilia had been observing for a long time. Seeing this, she was about to step forward, but Veronica and Leo beat her to it, walking up to Victor.

”Mr. Rockwell, since the first round of testing didn’t show any obvious gaps between us, why not do it again?” Veronica said with a serious expression. ”Given another chance, we will definitely do better than before.”

Before Victor could respond, a clear and sweet voice interjected. ”But...”

Veronica and the others turned around to see a girl’s bright smile entering their line of sight.

Lilia smiled and said, ”I haven’t completed the test yet. The first round isn’t over, is it?”

”You?” Leo’s attitude was as arrogant as ever. ”Do you even know Magic, yet you want to take the test? Our time is precious. We don’t have time to play house with a child.”

If he remembered correctly, this girl’s biological mother was just a commoner.

She might not even possess Magic Talent, so how could she proficiently use Magic, let alone accomplish something that even they struggled to succeed at?

Veronica didn’t say much, but her thoughts clearly aligned with Leo’s.

She looked at Victor. ”Mr. Rockwell, she was only just brought back by us and has never received any Magic-related instruction before. She knows nothing about this. I believe there’s no need to test her strength. Just as Leo said, it would just be a waste of time.”

”A waste of time?” Victor repeated Veronica’s words.

”Exactly.” Veronica nodded. ”I have nothing against her; I am merely stating the facts.”

”But the facts as I know them differ from yours,” Victor said.

He bypassed the two people in front of him, looked at Lilia behind them, and handed her a seed. ”Your Highness, please come forward.”

Lilia maintained her smile and stepped forward.

Listening to her exceptionally firm footsteps, Veronica and Leo frowned, but they had no choice but to make way for her.

They watched as Lilia took the tree seed from Victor, bent down to place it on the ground, and then stepped back a meter as instructed.

It was impossible.

A wild girl left to her own devices in the Royal Court without a teacher’s guidance probably didn’t even know what Magic was.

She might not even have awakened her talent.

How could such a person successfully complete the test?

Leo crossed his arms, ready to mock her.

Under their watchful eyes, invisible Magic Power began to flow. The Elemental Particles in the air were continuously drawn in, gradually converging around the Demon Crystal on the ground.

Lilia was far too familiar with this test.

On the rooftop of the abandoned teaching building at Lien Academy, Victor had taken her through it countless times.

Back then, even with her C-level Magic Talent, she could catalyze the seed’s growth to a level matching that of several A-level geniuses—let alone now, with her extremely high Elemental Affinity.

The Elemental Particles, which seemed unruly to others, were like the most docile pets in her hands. With just a little guidance, they flowed into the Demon Crystal at the exact speed she desired.

As the Magic Power poured in, the Demon Crystal radiated a dazzling light.

Leo’s brow twitched. He seemingly hadn’t expected this wild girl to actually know Magic, but what happened next nearly made him want to gouge his own eyes out.

After the radiant light dissipated, the artificially ripened ash tree seed was growing upward at an unbelievable speed. Its emerald branches and leaves broke through the Demon Crystal’s confinement, stretching out wildly into the broader space!

It didn’t stop there.

The sapling grew taller and lusher. Its thick roots plunged deep into the earth, while its flourishing branches continuously reached toward the sky.

In just a few short minutes, it transformed from a mere seed into a small tree twice the height of a grown man.

”No...” Leo’s eyes widened. ”How is this possible!”

The fact that this wild girl knew how to use Magic was surprising enough... How could she be so proficient at it?!
