Chapter 334 – City

Chapter 334: City

”Oh!” Aakesh commented in surprise after Lily told her about one of the uses of her skills.

Time flew by.

After Lily shared her entire experience for todayʼs training, she and Aakesh disappeared from the selection area and appeared in the store.

”Be safe!” Aakesh told Lily as she jumped up the stairs to enter his room and then enter Panagea.

Lily only nodded in response to Aakesh and disappeared into the room.

After the floating door and stairs disappeared, Aakesh took a step forward in the direction of the portal room.

As usual, after entering the portal room, his eyes fell on the leaderboard right away.

Seeing there was an addition of an adventurer on the leaderboard, Aakesh nodded. He then touched the nearest virtual portal. Only the tip of his finger had brushed it when suddenly a sucking force way stronger than his capacity to defend appeared and sucked him into another world.

The next moment, Aakesh appeared in the same place from where he had exited yesterday.

He had wasted an entire day in his journey to the city, Swiftport, so he didnʼt wait and continued his journey in the direction of the city right away.

Time flew by, and hours passed.

Aakesh could finally see the outline of the ocean, and a few more minutes later, the silhouette of a large city that could even put an Empire in Visteerna to shame appeared in his eyes.

Aakesh was still a few hundred miles away from the city, but he could still feel the majesty.

When the city was around fifty miles away from him, Aakesh came across the guards of the city.

Even though they were only guards, Aakesh knew he couldnʼt defeat them. He couldnʼt sense their exact levels, but if he were to take a guess, he would say the guards were at least Level 80.

The guard, seeing Aakesh approaching the city, didnʼt stop him due to the privilege of low-level adventurers.

When Aakesh was around a mile away from the city gate, he came across several queues waiting for their entry into the city.

The majority of the people waiting in the queue were merchants and traders as their caravans and carriers could be seen next to them. It wasnʼt out of Aakeshʼs expectation as the city, Swiftport, was a trading hub in these parts of Panagea.

Aakesh had no choice but to wait in the queue as the system informed him that his privilege wouldnʼt work here. As for forcing his entry into the city, Aakesh will only do that when he has turned insane.

It didnʼt take long for Aakesh to reach the gate as the guards at the gate were large in quantity and were also very efficient.

”Name?” One of the guards asked while not even looking at Aakesh.

”Hey, wake up!” Before Aakesh answered the question of the guard, another guard came and hit that guard on the head.

***

”Sorry, adventurer!” The guard apologized to Aakesh after having a conversation with his superior.

Since the city was still part of a low-level area, the adventurers still had a few privileges like entry into the city without questioning or searching.

Aakesh only nodded in response to the guardʼs apologizing.

”Here, this is your entry card into the city,” The guard then handed a card to Aakesh. Without even waiting for Aakesh to respond, the guard further added and informed, ”For today, your stay in the city is free, but from tomorrow, you need to pay 100 low soul stones for a day stay.”

The stay cost for other citizens in Swiftport was a thousand low soul stones for a day, but since Aakesh was the first adventurer to enter the city, he only needed to pay ten percent of the amount.

Aakesh didnʼt say anything, but instead, he took out ten thousand low soul stones from his pouch and handed it to the guard.

The guard counted the stones twice and then took out another card and handed it to him.

The first was a citizen card that allowed Aakesh to rent a house in the city, it also acted as an identity card in the case where guards got involved, while the second was a resident card, and on it 101 was magically engraved.

When the number turned into zero, the guards would escort Aakesh out of the city if he failed to pay further for his stay.

Aakesh took both the cards, tipped the guard a thousand low soul stones, and then finally entered the city through the gate.

If it were some other guy, the guards would have arrested them for bribing the guards, but since it was Aakesh, an adventurer, the guard felt pride for having the tip.

The first thing that welcomed Aakesh into the city was the flow of hundreds of thousands of people.

The city of Swiftport alone housed tens of billions of citizens belonging to different races, while it also welcomed people from the town and cities in this part of Panagea.

Just from the gate of the city, the market inside the Swiftport began.

Aakesh had only taken a few steps when he had already come across a weapon store. Since Aakesh had a pouch filled with several hundred million low soul stones, he didnʼt need to earn any soul stones for now.

”Kacha!”

”Argh!”

It had only been several seconds since Aakesh entered the city, and he had already come across his first conflict.

A carriage had mistakenly stepped onto the foot of a passerby, which resulted in the cracking of the manʼs bones, so he screamed in pain.

”Boom!”

The carriage owner, instead of helping the man, attempted to escape. But suddenly, a silhouette out of nowhere appeared on the road.

The carriage ownerʼs face turned pale, seeing the man since he recognized him.

The man was one of the known characters in the city, a lieutenant in the army.

Aakesh only glanced at the scene and then continued his travel since even he felt he didnʼt stand a chance against the man for now.

Time flew by, and hours passed.

”A level gain,” Aakesh commented as he had just gained a level, making him Level 41. It was due to his class, Watcher.

For someone like Aakesh, who gained levels by watching fortuitous events, this city was nothing less than heaven.

Time flew by, and finally, the day for Aakesh in Panagea came to an end since the sun had risen in Visteerna.
