Firmament Sword

Xu Luo found it truly hard to imagine how the Huo Family had managed to survive to this day.

’With the temperament of these Huo Family members, this kind of family culture... could the other families on the Ancient Race Continent really be completely unaware?’

Xu Luo shook his head slightly. ’That’s probably impossible. These great families infiltrate and investigate each other; how could they not know a thing?’

’If they knew, couldn’t the other great families just toss out a few treasures and watch the Huo Family members snarl and bite at each other like a pack of dogs fighting over a bone?’

As Xu Luo thought this, the corner of his mouth twitched violently. It just felt too incredible. If a family like this were on the Central Plains Star Continent, they would have been wiped out long ago...

But then he remembered that the Huo Family had a living Elder Saint presiding over them, and Xu Luo could somewhat understand why the other great families hadn’t made a move against them.

’Because given the Huo Family’s current situation and the bone-deep selfishness of its members, the family’s ruin is simply a matter of time.’

’The other great families wouldn’t find it worthwhile to provoke the Huo Family’s Saint Realm ancestor just to destroy them.’

’A Saint on a rampage is no laughing matter. As the most powerful experts in this world, a Saint’s fury could even annihilate an entire continent!’

Then, another thought flashed through Xu Luo’s mind. Since the Huo Family ancestor, Huo Tongtian, had an Inference Skill that was near-divine, had he never tried to foresee his own family’s destiny?

’Or... does he simply not care!’

Xu Luo considered it for a moment, then let out a wry laugh. ’These Huo Family members are selfish to the extreme,’ he thought. ’Didn’t that trait get passed down from their ancestor, Huo Tongtian? If that’s the case, even if Huo Tongtian knew this would happen, he probably wouldn’t lift a finger to stop it!’

At that moment, the struggle in the sky had reached a fever pitch!

The leading expert from the Huo Family had already grasped the hilt of the Beidou Sword, but a tyrannical force was pulling him toward the slowly spinning vortex of white clouds.

But the other Huo Family members didn’t see it that way. In their eyes, it was clear the man had gotten the treasured sword and was trying to escape.

”Don’t let him get away! We agreed before that a duel would decide who gets the sword!”

”How dare he try to take it for himself? Kill him!”

”As a kinsman, I advise you not to make a fatal mistake. No matter how powerful you are alone, you’re no match for the few of us combined...”

The Huo Family expert, swept toward the center of the vortex by the immense suction, felt incredibly wronged and furious. He roared, ”Escape my ass! I’m being dragged into this vortex... Are you all blind? Hurry up and help me!”

”A vortex?” The three of them took a closer look and immediately noticed something was off. They saw that he was indeed being pulled toward the vortex by the sword.

The three exchanged a glance and said in unison, ”Don’t worry! We’re coming to help you!”

The expert holding the Beidou Sword wished he could slap himself right after he said that. ’Why did I have to say that? Asking them to help me... Would those bastards ever help me?’

”Forget it... You’d better not come! As a kinsman, I have to warn you, the suction from this vortex is terrifyingly powerful. I’m afraid something will happen to you. You should stay far away!” the Huo Family expert shouted.

”As kinsmen, we are connected by blood. How could we see you in peril and not save you? Don’t worry, we will definitely get you out!”

”That’s right! Treasures and whatnot are just material possessions. We can’t just watch you die!”

”Relax, brother. The three of us will definitely save you!”

There was no way the three of them would give up. They exchanged reassuring words, but their movements weren’t slow in the slightest as they flew toward the massive vortex of white clouds.

As they flew, the three of them cursed inwardly: ’What fucking terrifying suction? I don’t feel a damn thing! He’s clearly lying! Does he take me for a three-year-old?’

The immense suction from the Beidou Sword originated from Xu Luo, who was channeling the power of heaven and earth. Although it was daytime and the Star Power wasn’t as strong, achieving this for a short period was not difficult.

The leading Huo Family expert flew higher and higher, getting closer and closer to the slowly spinning vortex. It looked as if he was about to be swallowed by it.

The three behind him attacked at almost the same time, sending streams of light streaking toward the expert in front.

Xu Luo didn’t even bother to hide himself too carefully. He stood in the reed marsh, breathing in the fresh, grassy fragrance, and looked up at the once-in-a-lifetime drama unfolding in the Cangqiong above.

Previously, Xu Luo had expected that after they obtained the Beidou Sword, they would definitely have a falling out over its ownership. They might even start fighting amongst themselves, and he could take advantage of the opportunity to do something.

But Xu Luo never imagined that things would proceed so smoothly it was almost unbelievable. The bizarre members of this bizarre family were cooperating with his plan to an extent he could hardly believe.

They had seen just a single streak of rainbow light, and they had immediately made their move. Each one of them was ruthless and black-hearted, striking without mercy. They hadn’t even gotten the sword yet, and two were already dead.

Now, among the four who remained, there was even greater distrust and killing intent.

The unluckiest of all was the Huo Family expert holding the Beidou Sword. He was being dragged toward the vortex by an incomparably powerful force. To ask him to let go... that was definitely impossible. To him, a treasured sword like this was a generous gift from the heavens. How could he possibly give it up?

At this very moment, he also had to deal with the simultaneous attacks from the three behind him!

If it were one-on-one, he had enough confidence and certainty to kill all three of them, one by one!

But now it was three against one. He was no match for them.

Just as the trio’s attacks were about to reach him, the Huo Family expert let out a furious roar and finally released his grip on the Beidou Sword. The immense suction instantly vanished.

”You three forced my hand!” The Huo Family expert’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at the three behind him. At the same time, he summoned various Magical Artifacts from his body to block their attacks.

”You don’t believe me! It really was the sword that brought me here!” he said, trying his best to explain as he dodged their continuous attacks.

Unexpectedly, the three of them just sneered. One of them said, ”Even now, you still dare to lie? Just turn around and look for yourself!”

”Don’t even think about tricking me! Why would I turn around and give you time to attack?” the Huo Family expert said angrily.

”It’s hanging right behind you. If you won’t turn around, you can at least sense it with your Divine Thought, can’t you?” one of the other two said with a cold laugh, a mocking expression on his face.

The Huo Family expert spread out his Divine Sense and nearly fainted from anger. Indeed... the sword... was currently suspended right behind him.

”Listen to my explanation! Something strange is going on here!” he explained hurriedly. ”It’s very likely that someone is plotting against us!”

”Bah! There isn’t a single soul for thousands of miles in any direction. Who would be here to plot against you?”

”Exactly. We’re from the Ancient Race Continent. We have no enemies here on the Sect Continent. Why would anyone plot against us?”

”Even if someone wanted to plot against us, would they use such a valuable treasure? Are they crazy, or just stupid? Aren’t they afraid of losing the treasure for nothing... Ahem, aren’t they afraid the treasure will be lost?”

The three of them didn’t believe a word he said. They exchanged a look and once again launched an attack on the Huo Family expert.

At this point, the Huo Family expert was thoroughly enraged. Truly furious, he immediately unleashed his Dharma Heaven and Earth, and his massive Dharma Body filled the void as he began to clash with the three of them.

The leading Huo Family expert was indeed powerful. After he unleashed his full strength, he actually managed to suppress the other three!

In truth, it wasn’t that his power truly suppressed the other three. Rather, all three of them had their own ulterior motives and were unwilling to use their full strength. They were afraid that the person next to them would backstab them at a critical moment...

Their mutual suspicion made it impossible for the three of them to be of one mind, which created the current, seemingly balanced situation.

The four of them, high in the sky, were actually fighting to a standstill!

The sword, emitting a brilliant light, hung above them. The slowly spinning vortex of white clouds high in the sky had also stopped rotating, but it had not dissipated. Even from ten thousand miles away, the strange phenomenon in this place could be clearly seen.

”If this goes on, he’s going to defeat us one by one! Aren’t you going to use your full strength against him yet?”

”You go first!” the other two said in unison.

”Fine, I’ll go first then!” This person decided to go all out. He directly summoned his Lifebound Magical Artifact. It was a streak of green light, and it was impossible to see what it was, but its speed was incredibly bizarre.

The moment this green light appeared, the expressions of the other three—including his two accomplices—all changed.

”The Green Ghost... You... you actually mastered the Green Ghost?” The powerful Huo Family expert’s face fell. With almost no hesitation, he turned to flee.

Then, he heard two blood-curdling screams. He froze and turned back in disbelief to look at what was happening.

The Huo Family expert who had summoned the Green Ghost had actually used that green light to kill his two companions!

The two of them weren’t quite dead yet, and they uttered the most vicious curses.

”You’ll die a dog’s death!”

”We’ll see you in hell soon! We’ll be waiting for you down there!”

BANG! BANG!

With two loud explosions, the bodies of the two people struck by the green light burst apart, erupting into a cloud of green smoke that drifted in the air.

The remaining Huo Family expert flickered and instantly retreated to a great distance. He watched the man with a wary expression and then said, ”You... you actually mastered the Green Ghost. Very good... In our Huo Family, no one has mastered this Cultivation Technique in over a hundred thousand years. The sword... I don’t want it. You can have it! Don’t worry, I definitely won’t tell anyone you have the Green Ghost!”

The man who had summoned the Green Ghost gave a sinister laugh. ”Glad to hear it!”

As he spoke, the streak of green light shot with incredible speed toward the last remaining Huo Family expert!
