I Outworked the Entire Cultivation World

Chapter 25: Chapter 16: (Cultivation) Scroll

Before half of the class was over, most people were already dizzy and had buzzing minds.

They felt as if they didn’t know who they were, where they were, or what they were supposed to do.

The person sitting next to Jiang Yuebai, Lv Ying, could only hold on for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea before she slumped, her spirit wandering off to the heavens.

The path of the Five Elements seems simple, but is actually complex. Originally, it wasn’t something these newly entered Qi Cultivation disciples were supposed to learn.

Moreover, in the current Cultivation Realm, because of the different attributes of cultivators, many schools have arisen; for example, Wood and Fire Spiritual Roots are suitable for Alchemy, and Gold and Fire Spiritual Roots are suitable for Artifact Refining.

Only those with Five Spirit Roots, having all five elements, can dabble in any school as long as they have enough time.

Due to limitations of spirit roots, almost all cultivators concentrate only on the school their own element encompasses before Core Formation, focusing on studying their own spirit root attributes. Very few learn all five elements from the start.

But Lii Jiuchuan insisted on holding this class because the entry-level children have pure thoughts, and their understanding of the world’s rules is not yet fixed, giving them the best chance to comprehend the laws of the Five Elements Conversion.

Once certain understandings become fixed, trying to change them requires waiting until one’s mind is mature to realize new insights.

”...Since childhood, you’ve known that clouds float in the sky and rivers flow on the ground, yet you don’t know that clouds originate from the water of rivers, gathering to form clouds, and clouds accumulate and rain falls, forming rivers. The Cloud Rain Technique cultivated by Spiritual Cultivators gathers Water Element Spiritual Energy to form clouds and subsequently precipitates rain. But when Water Element Spiritual Energy is insufficient, such as in midsummer, how do you ensure rain?”

Lii Jiuchuan paused and his gaze swept across the room.

All the students shuddered and quickly avoided eye contact with Lii Jiuchuan, eyes to nose, nose to heart, not daring to meet his gaze.

Lu Nanzhi furrowed her brows in puzzlement, while Xie Jingshan scratched his face and ducked his head. He was there listening because he had already overtaken Shen Huaxi, leaving only Lu Nanzhi ahead.

Wherever Lu Nanzhi went, he went. To know oneself and the enemy is the way to win, but this class was truly... headache-inducing!

”Lu Nanzhi, you explain.”

Lu Nanzhi deliberated for a moment and said, ”Among the five elements, metal can generate water by borrowing the Gold Element Spiritual Energy...”

Lu Nanzhi paused because she didn’t fully understand how metal could generate water.

Amidst the group of children avoiding his gaze, a pair of bright eyes caught Lii Jiuchuan’s attention.

”Jiang Yuebai, you explain.”

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

All eyes turned to her, like thorns on her back. Lu Nanzhi and Xie Jingshan also turned to look, making Jiang Yuebai tense up, her mind blank.

Lii Jiuchuan wasn’t in a hurry. It was only the first class, and expecting these children to grasp the most difficult concept of metal generating water was premature. For now, it was enough to get them thinking.

Lv Ying, sitting beside Jiang Yuebai, squeezed her hand in encouragement, and Jiang Yuebai took a deep breath and slowly began to speak.

”I don’t know how to ensure rain during midsummer, but Elder, you mentioned the river’s water rising and gathering into clouds, which accumulate and fall as rain. It reminds me of boiling water. When water boils, it releases white steam, and when that steam cools, it condenses into water, cool...”

Jiang Yuebai paused, and Lii Jiuchuan looked up, his eyes encouraging.

She had touched on the key point; it remained to be seen whether she could take it further.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Yuebai continued, ”The river’s water rises because of heat, and clouds accumulate and rain falls because of cooling. So... is there metal in the clouds? The water rises, meets metal, cools into rain, thus metal generates water? Or is it that metal generating water doesn’t require us to do anything actively? When clouds gather, the world has already transformed it. All we need to do is understand the principle within, discover it, and then utilize it?”

Jiang Yuebai wasn’t sure if she was right, and she looked at Lii Jiuchuan for confirmation.

Lii Jiuchuan squinted, his gaze on Jiang Yuebai growing deep. He hadn’t expected anyone to grasp the core of the path of the Five Elements in his first class, something that had never happened in previous years.

A feeling of cherishing talent arose in Lii Jiuchuan. Having come from a servant background, he had seen the undercurrents and knew that one must not stand out in the forest, especially since she was still just a young sapling.

Lii Jiuchuan’s expression grew stern, and he said solemnly, ”Your direction is not wrong, but it’s a bit superficial. The Five Elements is a path to the Great Dao; do you understand?”

Everyone listened, thinking it was a rebuke, but Lu Nanzhi heard the praise in it and immediately turned her head to Jiang Yuebai, and with her, Xie Jingshan also looked over.

”The path of the Five Elements concerns the Breaking Infant and Divinity Transformation. When forming the core, one must lay the foundation. Even with a single spirit root, during Divinity Transformation, one must complete the five elements to prove the Yin Yang Gods. The path to Divinity Transformation is distant and too early to speak of for you, but the Five Elements also affect whether a Qi Cultivation cultivator can turn the disadvantage of their spirit root into an advantage.”

Hearing this, everyone’s eyes brightened, and all looked to Lii Jiuchuan.

”If you can leverage the attributes of your spirit root, initially grasp the Five Elements Rotation, and connect the Five Elements Bridge between spirit roots, multi-spirit roots will be stronger than single spirit roots. The term ’Five Elements’ consists of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. ’Rotation’ means the cycle of their operation. Remember, spirit roots are determined by heaven, but man can conquer heaven. Those who strive gain heaven’s favor, while those who abandon themselves are scorned by heaven. Alright, that will be all for today.”

As Lii Jiuchuan’s words fell, Jiang Yuebai’s pupils trembled, and a sudden insight arose. What she just said was correct; the rotation of the Five Elements required her not to deliberately do anything but simply to comprehend.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yuebai immediately took out the Jade Scroll of the Five Elements Reincarnation Technique and placed it on her forehead, searching for the methods within to validate her thoughts.

Seeing this, Lv Ying quietly waited beside her, while the crowd, relieved, gradually dispersed.

Lii Jiuchuan deeply looked at Jiang Yuebai and prepared to leave.

”Elder Lii, Nanzhi wishes to ask how to transform water into ice.”

Lu Nanzhi stood up to ask, full of longing.

She was naturally a Water Spirit Body, with soft water nature, unsuitable for her cultivated Path of Killing, so she was eager to turn water into ice to enhance her spell’s power.

Lii Jiuchuan wore a displeased look, ”You haven’t even understood the path of the Five Elements Conversion, and you want to learn the Five Elements Transforming Three Wonders? You’re reaching too far!”

Lu Nanzhi shuddered all over, and Lii Jiuchuan glanced meaningfully at Jiang Yuebai sitting quietly outside the hall, and then turned to leave.

Xie Jingshan watched beside this and understood why Lu Nanzhi had come today.

He had a Single Fire Spiritual Root, and since Fire generates Earth, couldn’t he also channel some Earth Spiritual Energy to improve his own defensive power?

Jiang Yuebai was immersed in the Jade Scroll for almost half an hour before she withdrew her mind, satisfied. She had already insighted into the trickiest part of Five Elements Mutual Generation conversion, leaving only further trials for verification.

As she opened her eyes, Jiang Yuebai found Lv Ying in front of her, making nervous faces at her. She looked left and right.

To her left was Xie Jingshan, to her right Lu Nanzhi, both watching her like protectors.

”What’s in that Jade Scroll?” Lu Nanzhi asked, with Xie Jingshan listening intently.

Jiang Yuebai held the Jade Scroll up, ”It’s the Five Elements Reincarnation Technique authored by Elder Lii.”

The two suddenly understood why she could answer Lii Jiuchuan’s question, realizing it was because she had already studied in advance.

”Thank you.”

Lu Nanzhi clasped her hands in a salute, got up and headed straight for the library. Xie Jingshan stared at Jiang Yuebai for a moment, realizing that she looked surprisingly good when cleaned up, smiled secretly, and went after Lu Nanzhi.

After they left, Lv Ying let out a sigh of relief.

”Little Bai, you really scared me! I thought you had offended those two.”

”I’m just a servant. If they hadn’t come to the class today, I wouldn’t have encountered them, so how could I offend them?” Jiang Yuebai stood up and stretched.

Lv Ying nodded, ”True, I was a servant in the Lu Family before, and I rarely saw the young miss. With an Innate Spiritual Body, she reached Qi Cultivation Third Layer in just a month after entering the Dao. That Xie Jingshan isn’t bad either, at Qi Cultivation Second Layer. I haven’t even entered the Green Wood Technique yet.”

Jiang Yuebai’s eyes flickered as she watched the direction the two left.

”But Little Bai, what about you? Elder Lii is famously strict, yet you got his praise. Tell me, have you been secretly studying behind my back?”

Jiang Yuebai looked away, ”I have Five Spirit Roots, trash aptitude, and barely know a few words. If I don’t try harder and read more, my grandfather won’t want me anymore.”

Lv Ying nodded slightly, ”True, your cultivation progress in Huaxi Valley is at the lowest. You should work harder, but just reading won’t help; the path of the Five Elements is something only Golden Core Masters should comprehend. For now, focus on cultivating your techniques; that’s the most important thing.”

”Thank you for your advice, Senior Sister Lv. In fifteen minutes, there’s a Talisman Making class by the Inner Sect Foundation Establishment Uncle. Would you care to join?”

”No, no, just thinking about those Cloud Seal Turtle Shell Texts gives me a headache. I’ll go to the library.”

At this time, in the library.

Lu Nanzhi slammed her token on the Old Steward’s desk.

”I want to replicate the Five Elements Reincarnation Technique, and all of Elder Lii’s writings, replicate all of them.”

The Old Steward was stunned for a moment, not reacting until Lu Nanzhi prompted him to start replicating.

As Lu Nanzhi left, Xie Jingshan sneaked in, slapped down his token and Spirit Stones.

”I want everything Lu Nanzhi replicated, and reprint all books related to Five Elements Conversion on the second floor. If I don’t have enough Contribution Points, use Spirit Stones.”

Old Steward: ......
