Beneath the Red Dragon

The ambitious War Commander, Jackal-Wolf Man Yougu, rode on a Bat-winged Flying Dragon and soared down from the mountains, heading towards the city that was gradually rising at the foot of the Dragon Nest.

This city, constructed under the direction of White Dragon Gomot, was designed to encompass all the territories and villages of the various species that previously lived at the foot of the Dragon Nest. No fixed boundary was planned, for in the eyes of the Giant Dragon, the larger the city, the better.

Thus, the city’s boundary was currently simply fenced with wooden palisades, akin to a basic city wall, merely for ease of management.

As for defense, these large wooden palisades were enough to repel ordinary beasts, while extraordinary beasts dared not attack a city located at the core of the Dragon Group Territory.

Since the city included all the species living in the area, these species would become the first residents of the newly built city.

So, even though many Free People who migrated to the Dragon Group Territory and traded slave serfs were diverted by the Bronze Dragon Alina’s Bay Stream City, the construction speed of the city led by White Dragon Gomot was still much faster than that of the Baystream City led by Bronze Dragon Alina.

However, many goblins and kobolds did not like living in the city; they felt the overly regulated city was a constraint and thus applied to the city construction officials to settle further in the forest.

This was a beneficial change for the development and diversity of the territory, so city construction officials, after consulting relevant scholars, approved the migration applications of these beloved species.

The migrated species were allocated to untouched forests to establish villages.

But the managers of these villages, the village chiefs, need to be appointed by territory officials from the migrating species and report to the responsible territory officials every cycle.

This is the gradually perfected and mature political management system within the Giant Dragon Territory, tailored and adjusted to the governance of more joining citizens.

Because the supreme ruler’s will of the territory is such; the will conveyed by the Giant Dragon is that no system decree can apply forever, only for a specified development cycle.

Except for the overly fundamental governance policies and territory systems that should not be changed, other governance details can be constantly modified to adapt to the territory’s development.

Do it not at all, or do it the best!

Therefore, these officials, promoted for their talents and skills regardless of species and origin, want to perform well and achieve outstanding results.

It is well known that the initial phases of a country’s establishment are the easiest period to advance one’s class, so these officials, considered smart among ordinary people, are seizing their opportunities.

And since there were no castle defense construction concerns, the construction start point of the city was a series of buildings and residences. As long as the plans provided by human architectural scholars were followed, the entire city could be gradually completed.

The original Goblin Camp, Centaur Tribe’s camp villages, Dogman Camp, and the villages of elves and humans diverted to this area were all migrated into the city, forming the labor force for building it.

Beloved monsters and residents of various species pushed carts loaded with felled timber in and out through the wide city gate entrance; the young kobold cubs born in the last two years were now a qualified labor force.

Even though these new generation kobolds were not yet adults, affected by the Giant Dragon’s aura, their average stature was a head above their predecessors, equivalent to a robust human youth.

The Centaur Warriors were straightforward and efficient; even the old, weak, women, and children of the Centaur Tribe were a battle race. They unabashedly strapped ropes to their chests and bellies, pulling carts of timber and stone to the construction site.

Moreover, those Ogre Slaves and other species’ slaves who performed well in the construction of the Giant Dragon Castle were rewarded and returned to freedom.

Under long-standing strict discipline, these ogres and giant demons learned to abide by the territory’s laws. Those who hadn’t learned had become fertilizers in the Dragon Group Orchard.

Moreover, those War Tree-men, since the Dragon Castle’s construction was mostly complete, were no longer needed for its detailed finish and were thus put back into building the city after a brief rest.

Elf Druids stood on the canopies of the War Tree-men, directing their activities.

Although Tree-men could learn common language, they were not clever enough to communicate fluently with other residents.

The Tree of Life guarded by elves would become a unique scenic spot in the gigantic city in the future. Notably, each city within the Dragon Group Territory planted a Tree of Life.

This is the Giant Dragon using the Tree of Life’s advantage to nurture its territory’s residents, making each generation better than the previous.

And Tree-men were so hard-working not solely due to the Dragon Group’s power but also due to promises made. Tree-men could freely choose a place to settle within the Dragon Group Territory and receive its protection.
