Yan Qingsi glanced at the fruit on the table and asked, “Are you trying to make things worse?”

Feeding each other is something that we only do to the ones we are close to. Yan Qingsi did not think that she was that close to Jin Xuechu yet. Well, they could be considered friends, but definitely not best friends.

Jin Xuechu held his ground. He looked right into Yan Qingsi’s eyes and said, “No, why don’t you think about it. I may be hoping for this to turn out to be a reality and for something to happen between us after all.”

Yan Qingsi pouted and replied, “Are you sure? News spread on the internet that I was a sugar baby. I was the third wheel. I’ve even had an abortion during junior high school…”

Jin Xuechu cracked a smile at Yan Qingsi, “A long time ago, there were rumors that I was gay, a male prostitute, and the pet of sugar mamas. Now, wouldn’t that make us the best match for each other?”

Jin Xuechu was telling Yan Qingsi that based on his experience, every well-known celebrity went through a period of darkness in their careers before making it big. Most of the time they were discredited by people who despised them.

Yan Qingsi let out a laugh, “If we just look at this point, it seems like… we are a good match… but…”

Jin Xuechu kept his gaze locked onto Yan Qingsi’s eyes and interrupted, “But what? My hands are sore. People are watching us too. Just take it. Don’t embarrass me.”

Yan Qingsi did not accept the fruit with her mouth wide open, instead, she reached out and took the fork in her hand. She said, “But… I see you as my brother so don’t try to court me.”

Jin Xuechu broke into laughter, “You’re wrong! I’ve many brothers. I am not lacking in brothers, however, I need a girlfriend, are you up for it?”

“King Jin? What brings you here?” The voice of Miss Mai came ringing and rescued Yan Qingsi from the awkward situation.

Yan Qingsi secretly let out a sigh of relief and lifted her head to watch the chubby Miss Mai who came running towards them, “Miss Mai, where have you been?”

“I went to run some errands. I’ll talk to you later.” Miss Mai smiled warmly at Jin Xuechu, “King Jin, it’s all thanks to you that Yan Qingsi managed to survive the defamation attempt. Thank you so much!”

Jin Xuechu felt sorry for himself. What a pity that he finally mustered his courage and asked Yan Qingsi, but…

He got up on his feet and replied politely, “It’s alright. I… I had my reasons for doing so.”

Jin Xuechu stole a quick glance at Yan Qingsi and said, “I’ve been here for quite some time and I still have things to do. I’ll make a move for now but I’ll come back to see you when I am less occupied.”

“Hey, King Jin. Let’s have a meal together when you’re free then.”

“Alright. Let’s get in touch about it. Bye.”

After Jin Xuechu walked away, Miss Mai asked, “What did he say to you?”

Yan Qingsi put the fork back into the food container, “He said he needs a girlfriend and asked if I was interested. Should I agree to it?”

Miss Mai answered immediately, “Of course not… You’re now…”

“What about me now?”

“Sigh… Nothing!”

Miss Mai dared not say that she had sold Yan Qingsi out to Yue Tingfeng. Yan Qingsi belonged only to Yue Tingfeng. She could not be someone else’s girlfriend.

That evening, a photo went viral on Weibo. In the photo, Jin Xuechu held out some fruit in front of Yan Qingsi. His soft gaze was locked on Yan Qingsi.

That particular photo made people believe that there was something potentially brewing between Jin Xuechu and Yan Qingsi.

Yan Qingsi was too busy shooting to notice the news being written about her and Jin Xuechu.

Yue Tingfeng saw the news article about the two during a meeting on the second day. He was scrolling on his phone out of boredom when he spotted it. His facial expression changed immediately and then, he coldly announced, “This meeting is now on hold.”

Jiang Lai asked, “CEO Yue, where are you going?”

“I am going to see my new staff,” he replied as his long legs carried him out the door.
