Global Game: I Have Portable Store

From a distance, the air carried a stench, akin to dead rats in a sewer, mixed with a hint of leather.

It was pungent and nauseating.

”This is disgusting. Did those ’wolves’ crawl out of the sewers? Or did they grow up eating shit?”

Zhou An said with a look of disgust, covering his nose.

Most of the others also covered their noses; the average person indeed found it hard to endure such a smell, even from afar.

It was the simplest physiological reaction.

”Indeed.” Zhu Xin Xue said, wrinkling her nose in agreement.

Su Changxing looked at the corroded ground ahead and said, ”Suppressing your sense of smell helps a lot. As Extraordinary individuals, we must learn to control our bodies.”

The black fog was changing the world, and the monsters within it were altering the world too. Some of them would transform their surroundings to suit themselves.

This could be considered a biological instinct.

Humans exemplified this the most by building structures, laying roads, and raising livestock...

Near the highway, the ground was covered with a dark red flesh-like substance, constantly writhing, seemingly alive, and the utility poles and streetlamps were corroded and toppled.

A scene like this might have been shocking before doomsday, but compared to the pervasive black fog, it was child’s play.

”Those ’wolves’ hide underground, and the moment prey comes a bit closer, they rush out to hunt them.”

Chang Yi said solemnly, ”Part of our reconnaissance team was lost here; they were too many and extremely fast.”

”Team leader, we should be cautious. Although the individual strength of these ’wolves’ isn’t strong, their coordination is very strong, like a single entity... and there are special units among them.”

Chang Yi appeared very cautious; he had previously opposed the cleanup plan, considering it risky.

After arriving nearby, they quickly understood the surroundings, encountering these ’wolves,’ losing more than a dozen people.

Luckily, they were only at the edge and didn’t provoke too many ’wolves,’ enabling them to escape.

Su Changxing nodded thoughtfully and said, ”You mean there are more powerful beings among them?”

Chang Yi pondered and said, ”More like their variants, similar yet different, more advanced entities.”

More advanced entities?

Looking at Chang Yi, Su Changxing grew curious about these wolves.

Normally, this would be a straightforward combat operation; most planned scenarios were plain, and they’d prepare stronger forces to execute the plan.

Steadiness was important, the essential factor for long-term survival.

They walked several hundred meters further, and suddenly there was a commotion ahead.

Large numbers of dark red, wolfhound-like creatures, lacking fur with carapaced joints, emerged from a pitch-black hole, gathering into lines, flowing toward them.

Su Changxing observed these dark red creatures with surprise.

These were not wolves at all, but insects!

[Bloodhound: A low-level life form, a basic unit of the Titan Insect Race.

They lack conventional intelligence but possess collective consciousness, capable of reproduction and evolution through devouring. Almost all insect race kinds can evolve from them.]

The situation was somewhat unexpected.

Su Changxing didn’t know what the so-called Titan Insect Race was, but from the description, he knew these creatures were troublesome, reproducing and evolving merely through consumption.

A simple yet terrifying ability, but that was just a basic ability of their species.

”Do these things have souls?”

Su Changxing held a long scythe in his left hand, accompanied by hundreds of evil spirits appearing around.

They glowed eerily, flickering in and out.

Some uninformed team members were startled, thinking monsters were attacking, calming only after hearing others’ reminders.

These evil spirits were unusual, cultivated by Su Changxing, growing through mutual devouring, comparable to an average Tier Nine Extraordinary, extremely troublesome.

The front-line combat team members holding shields quickly retreated and detonated the high-explosive devices they had just planted.

With the explosion, the bloodhounds at the front were blown away.

The bloodhounds had strong life force; apart from those at the explosion’s center, the others were still alive, albeit with some incompleteness of bodies.

Other bloodhounds continued to surge, stepping over the bodies of those in front, ferocious yet orderly.

They formed dozens of teams, encircling from all sides, seemingly intending to devour Su Changxing and his team.

Dozens of team members armed with grenade launchers fired at the incoming bloodhounds. With explosions, many bloodhounds were blown away, but it didn’t stop them.

Subsequently, over a hundred robots set up laser guns in the rear, conducting sequential shooting.

The powerful lasers, each shot capable of killing a bloodhound, formed a barrage.

Su Changxing threw his scythe forward, Tao Yi’s body materializing, wielding the scythe in a sideways slash, creating a semi-circle five or six meters across, slicing four or five bloodhounds in half, crashing.

He took out a handgun and rapidly fired at the bloodhounds, each bullet penetrating three or four bloodhounds.

Zhou An and his team guarded the left, wielding a Bronze Longsword, rapidly darting between the bloodhounds. Soon, the greenish-blue sword was stained red, as if with gelatinous blood.

”Hold them off, take them down!”

Chang Yi shouted as he ran back. He controlled flames over the right-side hills, spreading widely, turning the air scorching.

The bloodhounds’ heat resistance was higher than imagined. Several crossed flaming hilltops without falling, charging into the crowd ablaze.

For a moment, even though the bloodhounds were numerous, they were held back and swiftly cleared.

Soon, the bloodhounds sensed something was wrong, abruptly retreating.

”What now?”

Zhou An turned his head to ask Su Changxing.

With a smile, Su Changxing said, ”No rush, let’s wait here and see what they do, advance slowly.”

Meanwhile,

Su Changxing set up a sniper rifle, shooting at the retreating bloodhounds, the bullets cutting them down in batches.

These low-level insects seemed to lack long-range attack means, and their attack methods were singular—ramming, biting.

Soon after, they witnessed a shocking scene; reddish-skinned, shell-armored humanoid creatures, resembling humans, leaped out from the holes.
