Child of Destiny

…

The concert was already halfway through, yet their main mission had still not made significant progress. Aside from finding some tracks from different parties that were currently involved, Shiella and the rest had yet to fully find the real location that they were looking for.

The so-called trade between the Black Serpent Mafia and the mysterious group seemed to have been cancelled once again since the forces of the Springfield Family and their allies were unable to find their trances once again.

This made everyone frown, but they did not think that much. They all knew from the start that this was going to be a long operation that would last for at least an entire month.

Naturally, the ongoing war was different since that side was a much bigger issue.

However, the mission on their side was a bit ’easier’ to deal with since it was only concerned about sabotaging the deal between the Black Serpent Mafia and that mysterious group.

Despite waiting for quite a while, Shiella could not help frowning deeply because they had lost the trail of the opposing side.

Even from the other side, where the members of the Sleeping Dragons and Wings of Dawn seemed to be unable to find any sign of their targets. Even those from the Lufus Weapon Arms Group seemed to have disappeared into thin air right after retreating.

This confused Shiella very much. Based on all the clues that she was laid in front of her, she was sure that something big was supposed to happen there.

While she was busy re-analyzing everything, the expected news finally arrived.

…

Sun-Moon City, Penumbra Stadium.

Shin and the rest were currently resting while the guest performers were performing on the stage.

They were preparing and waiting for their next turn to perform when Benedict suddenly entered the prep room.

Seeing the expression that he was making, they all realized that there was finally some development on their main mission.

Benedict did not bother to beat around the bush either and immediately disclosed the news to everyone. “We have finally found some progress.”

He paused for a moment to clear his throat before continuing. “Some suspicious movements are coming from a nearby wilderness. It is not far from the city, so we will be sending some people to scout the situation.”

“But from our initial information, it seems like the people from the Black Serpent Mafia and World Government seemed to have encountered one another and are currently engaged in an intense fight.”

Hearing this, Shin and the others frowned a little.

This could be good news for them since the group could take advantage of the situation and become the fishermen instead of being the main force facing the opposition head-on.

“Near the city? It is not that good, isn’t it?” mumbled Arthur before asking. “Then do we have to cancel the rest of the performance and evacuate everyone?”

He loved to continue with the concern, but he also knew that the safety of the people was also something that they had to prioritize.

After all, they could not afford to let those guys involve the innocent in their fight.

Even if the battle between those two forces was only outside the city, it was still quite near, given Benedict’s description. This could still risk the city from catching some strays once that battle intensified, especially when Domain Realm Experts or similarly strong experts from other disciplines get involved.

Even if the advanced technology of the Sun-Moon City could protect it from powerful collisions, accidents could still happen, especially when quite a lot of forces were currently gathered in this place.

Benedict shook his head. “No. On the contrary, you are to make the performances a bit longer. We have to prolong the conversation for as long as possible to prevent these many people from going anywhere.”

Hearing this, Shin instantly realized what the higher-ups were thinking. “Gathering these many people at one place will make it easier for the top experts to protect them instead of the entire city.”

The group was instantly enlightened as well after hearing his words.

Benedict nodded. “That’s right. There are two Domain Realm Experts specialized in mechanical tools guarding the entire stadium and the surrounding area, so this place is much safer than anywhere else in the city.”

“Moreover, the liveliness of this place can overshadow the commotion that is happening outside the city,” he added.

“The longer we keep these people here, the easier it is for the top experts to deal with the situation outside,” commented Jilian while nodding.

Benedict then turned to Shin and asked. “There is still at least 2 to 3 hours before the concert ends, but we still don’t know how long those crazy people from the Black Serpent Mafia and the World Government will clash against each other.”

“From the initial information that we have gotten, it seems like it will last for quite a long time. We still don’t know the specifics and the exact reason for their clash, but we suspect that it must be related to the operation that the Black Serpent Mafia is supposed to conduct here.”

“Just to be safe, our superiors want us to prolong the concert for as long as possible to make sure that everything is clear before letting these people leave.”

Shin and the others understood their current assignment.

“We will perform a few more songs and do a bit more special intermission numbers if the time is not enough,” nodded Shin before turning to Arthur. “Don’t you like to perform a bit longer? This is your time to shine! Think of a few special performances later if we happen to run out.”

While Shin was arranging and adjusting their plan, Benedict also added. “Another, we have to be careful about a few things later when returning.”

“Since we are sending a few of our people to scout the area where those two forces are fighting, our security level will drop a little. I ask you to be more careful and avoid being alone during this period,” he said with a solemn tone.

…

At the same time, Shiella was currently making arrangements to respond to the sudden development. But when she was about to adjust their distribution of people, another news item suddenly came, disturbing her plans.

[Club President, we have finally caught up with them. We have found their tracks!]

Shiella could not help but halt her actions and ask. “Location?”

[This time, they are in Pritz Harbor! A town away from their previous location!]

Shiella could not help but frown deeply when she heard this. Comparing this information with what they knew about from the opposing side, she realized that it was much farther compared to the previous location.

It seemed like they were luring their forces further away from the Sun-Moon City. Or to be more precise, it was away from the place where the most recent development was coming from.

“Have you confirmed the ’package’ yet?” she asked.

[We have already confirmed it, Club President. And it looks like a person. That missing person from the previous incident at the Thunder God Mountain!] ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel-fire.ɴet

This information was more reliable compared to the previous ones that they had acquired. Moreover, based on Shin, the previous ’Professor’ had done something to the body of that old man before the situation escalated at that time.

“What is the situation?” she asked before giving out orders to the other forces that were on standby.

[We are currently chasing after them.]

The person from the other side of the line paused for a moment, seemingly going into hiding, before continuing. [We have also identified the mysterious group that is conducting the trade.]

Hearing this, Shiella raised her brows before asking. “Which forces do they come from?”

[Voidwalker Tribes! Those people seemed to be from a Voidwalker Tribe!]

Hearing this, Shiella could not help but tremble.

“If it is from the Voidwalker Tribe, then this is something of utmost importance,” she mumbled before quickly giving her orders. “Keep an eye on them. Don’t you dare lose sight of them, Jhin!”

That person from the other side of the line seemed to smile bitterly before answering. [Copy that, Club President.]

“Don’t drop the line and keep me updated!” said Shiella before pulling out another virtual screen to contact Nathan.

Right after the call connected, Shiella immediately reported with a sense of urgency. “Uncle, it is the Voidwalker Tribe! That maniacs from the Black Serpent Mafia are colluding on something with the lunatics of the Voidwalker Tribe!”

Right after hearing her words, the expression on Nathan’s face suddenly turned serious before asking. “What’s the status?”

Shiella immediately reported everything to Nathan while also inputting her thoughts and suspicions about the current situation. This also included the situation in the Sun-Moon City.

After a while, Nathan nodded with a heavy tone. “This is too much of a coincidence. The timing is too perfect.”

He then tapped his finger on the table for a moment before nodding. “Go along with your plan. I will be sending you the reinforcements.”

“Don’t worry. They are just nearby. They will be able to arrive soon,” he added, assuring Shiella that nothing would go wrong.

He then paused for a moment before saying. “Be careful.”

Beep!

After that, he immediately ended the call, seemingly to call the said reinforcement.
