Child of Destiny

Swoosh!

Astaroth was able to erect a thick wall of metal and earth before him, to take the full brunt of the earlier explosion. Thanks to its powerful toughness and great defensive capabilities, they were able to withstand the initial impact.

But the residual energies were something that they could not underestimate either, so Shin and Cloe had to respond to the situation.

Shin protected Cloe behind him as he summoned a barrier by using the ‘Eclipse Pulse’ skill along with the amplification of his ‘Demonic Telekinesis’. The latter, on the other hand, gave him some buffs while also creating another barrier to coat Shin’s barrier with her holy powers, further strengthening it.

They could see tongues of purple flame sticking out the edges of the wall protecting them, which were somewhat dissipating in the air after turning into bluish-white embers.

It took a while before all the heat rushing out of the hall settled down. They were only able to walk inside the hall once all of this ended.

Right after Astaroth removed the wall before him, he led Shin and Cloe inside the tomb hall, using his huge and sturdy body to protect them from the remaining heat wave.

The moment when Shin and Cloe entered the tomb hall, they were immediately greeted by an intense heat that was assaulting them from all directions.

It seemed like the entire hall was set ablaze by a purple flame with bluish-white hues on its surface. The heat that this flame was producing was quite strange and too hard to explain.

It sometimes produced an intense heat that was too hot for anyone to endure, even melting a stone or even a metal. At times, it was pulling all the heat from its surroundings, freezing those who came in contact with it instead.

This flame was different from those Shin had seen before. “I think it can even be ranked on the same level as Solus’ Eternal Flame.”

Boom!

As they were observing the flames obstructing their field of vision, they saw that a huge portion of it was swept away as a swarm of undead soldiers rushed out of it, charging toward something.

Upon closer inspection, Shin and Cloe saw that these undead soldiers were fighting another group of undead-looking creatures that had the features of humans with heads wrapped with bluish-white flames.

Through his True Sight Skill, Shin could also see that through these special flames, these creatures seemed to be able to control the element of metal, which gave them the ability to produce a variety of weapons such as swords, knives, spears, maces, hammers, axes, and shields.

Wrapped with a set of armor made from special flames and metal, these creatures fight against the opposing army with different battle tactics.

[Be careful, my liege! Those creatures are Frostburns! They are creatures of hell, which represents the forces under the reign of the Empyrean Rectifier.] said Solus.

[It was a powerful Ancient Demon, who is also known as the Sinful Bird during the Ancient Era.] added Hanzo in a solemn tone.

Shin could not help but narrow his eyes even further after hearing those words of the tone, especially the grim tone that they had. This could only mean that the other side was no different opponent.

“If what Morax said is true, then the one controlling those creatures is Azazel from the Pandemonium Troupe,” mumbled Shin before turning his attention to the other army fighting the Frostburns.

“That undead army-… why does it feel so familiar?” mumbled Cloe as she squinted her eyes while looking at the ongoing battle.

“It is Immortal’s Undying Army,” said Shin grimly before suddenly adding. “But they are also much different from before as they not only possess the Power of Corruption but the Demonic Powers of Demons as well.”

Boom!

Not long after, an explosion erupted at the center of the hall, attracting the attention of the two.

Looking over, they saw a pair of figures retreating in the air after suffering a powerful impact from their last collision.

Shin could instantly recognize Immortal as he had already seen the latter on multiple occasions. “This guy sure is everywhere.”

He then turned toward the other direction where he saw a swordsman, wearing a set of armor that carried some features of Egyptian culture. The sword that this person was holding was also emitting a very evil and impure aura, which also seemed to be the source of the special flame enveloping the entire tomb hall.

“He must be the guy,” mumbled Shin as he observed the two.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Ta-ta!

Right after separating from each other, Azazel and Immortal finally had the time to turn their gaze away from each other and look at the newcomers entering the cave.

“Tsk! I guess I have wasted too much time here,” complained Immortal after seeing Shin and Cloe.

Azazel, on the other hand, could not help but squint his eyes deeply after seeing the pair stepping into the tomb hall. “What is Morax doing outside? Why did he let others enter the hall when I was still inside?”

He then glanced at the time and could not help but curse a little. “Tsk! That stupid guy and his useless contracts!”

Due to the appearance of the ‘unexpected’ guests, Azazel and Immortal could not help but pause their battle and warily look at everyone within the tomb hall.

It was also at this moment when Shin saw Axion, who was standing in the distance while warily looking at everyone. Behind him was the tomb, where the Fallen King was about to be resurrected.

“That guy must be the same person who is ‘warning’ during my fight against those guys – their commander,” mumbled Shin as he could feel the familiar aura coming from the other party. Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire

Right after his eyes came in contact with Axion’s gaze, Shin and Cloe unexpectedly received a special notification from the system.

The first notification was for Shin while the latter ones were meant for Cloe, who was currently following the special chain quest from the Church of Light.

Shin and Cloe stared at the notifications before their eyes for a while before exchanging looks with one another.

*Ding*

At the same time, Axion had also received a string of notifications of his own with an entirely different continent.

System: It is time to make a choice!

System: Your ray of hope has arrived! Secretly help the Envoy of the Church of the Sun and Moon and the Holy Maiden of the Church of Light to sabotage the resurrection ritual.

You will be able to free yourself from the curse of the Fallen King and regain your freedom

System: This is your time! Seize this opportunity to steal the Mark from the Destined One and become the known King of the Plague.

Note: This choice will give you a lot of power but will also have some hidden risks for the future.

This was the time that he had been waiting for since he had been put in such a situation after his team had discovered the tomb and disturbed the resting king within it.

He was first worried that he would never get an opportunity to escape this predicament after seeing Azazel and Immortal appear at the same time.

He might have powerful stats that could rival a Lord Rank Monster or even an Overlord Rank one if he included his berserk skills. But his confidence was slightly hurt after seeing how powerful Immortal and Azazel were, especially alongside their respective armies.

Moreover, it was clear that these two were still hiding their true strength, saving them from the most unexpected situations.

Aside from that, he could also see that the resurrection process was progressing well, almost reaching its target. It would not take that long before his body would be seized by the spirit of the king due to the special core implanted within his heart when he and his team were cursed by the disturbed king.

Fortunately, Shin and Cloe arrived right before the timer of the resurrection ritual was about to end and be successful.

But before Shin, Cloe, and Axion could make their move, another system notification descended.

This time, it was meant for everyone within the tomb hall.

*Ding*

System: The special conditions were met due to too many parties being involved.

System: A Special Quest Scenario has been triggered!

*Ding*

System: Transporting everyone to the settings of the scenario!
