Child of Destiny

……

BOOM!

The clash between Shin and Lucy had produced a strong shockwave that spread in every direction, clearing everything in their surroundings.

Pa! Pa!

Shin then suddenly used the two charges of ‘Mondi’s Jump’ legacy skill to circle Lucy in an instant, dodging the following attack that the latter had thrown.

The earlier exchange was more than enough for Shin to understand the great difference in strength. He could not afford to fight this monster in direct combat.

If he wanted to survive and win this battle, then he had to rely on his mobility. But before that, he also had to confirm that Lucy did not have the same level of mobility that he had.

Swoosh!

Boom!

With yet another casual swing with his sword, Lucy had sent a powerful sword wave that shot toward the ground and exploded.

Briefly glancing at the point of impact, Shin a deep and huge sword mark left on the spot where that attack had landed.

He could not help but gulped nervously when he saw that. He then felt like complimenting himself for decisively choosing not to face that attack head-on.

Swoosh!

But before he could even feel more pleased with himself and prepare for an attack, he suddenly heard a sharp and crispy sound of the air being torn apart by something.

Without any hesitation, he swiftly kicked the air for another time and propelled himself up to a higher altitude.

At the same time, he had also twisted his body midair, performing a spinning diagonal flip.

Swoosh!

It was at that moment when a sword brushed passed his body with a very small margin. If he was any slower, then he would most likely be cleaved in halves by now. He could even feel the heat from the flames covering the blade of the sword of his opponent.

Lucy had suddenly turned around and threw that attack from an expected angle, linking it to his previous actions.

Then by putting more strength on his arm, he forcefully halted the movements of his sword before swinging it down once again.

“Tsk! Tsk!”

Shin clicked his tongue and summoned the ‘Nephilim’s Wings’ in an instant before transforming his body into a streak of light that dashed to the side.

‘Slayer Skill: Moonlight Steps’

Swoosh!

Dodging yet another attack, Shin was preparing to attack when he saw that the trajectory of his opponent’s sword changed once again and changed after him.

He was barely able to stabilize himself in the air when he saw the blazing sword of his opponent rapidly approaching his face.

Without showing any hint of hesitation, he used another movement skill from his arsenal!

A void gate appeared in an instant before swallowing him up and transporting him to a different location.

‘Elemental Skill (Void): Void Step’

This time, when he appeared in another location, Shin did not even think twice before charging forward. He then transformed into a light that pierced through the air, heading straight to his opponent.

In his half-translucent half-physical form, Shin unsheathed his sword decisively and swung it forward.

Swoosh!

‘Jade Kirin Scripture: Quick Draw (Metal Form): Moonlight Splitter’

Shing!

A cold light cut through the air and headed toward Lucy, who was already preparing another attack for Shin.

But before he could even turn around, the cold light was already upon him and threatened to cut through his body.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

At that moment, the swords silently rotating behind Lucy seemed to have come to life and moved on their own. They gathered and crossed against each other, forming a protective blockade that blocked Shin’s path.

Clang!

An intense light was released by those words and prevented the spiritual form of Shin from passing through them, completely halting his advance.

But at the same time, the swords were forced to retreat and scattered around due to the strong impact of the attack.

Shin did not even pause as his other arm was already proceeding with the next move.

The sheath on his left hand had taken the ‘Conviction Form’ of ‘Mondi’s Style’ and had become a rapier.

Swoosh!

A tongue of flame surrounded the blade of the rapier and danced on its surface in a spiraling movement as Shin stabbed it forward.

Swoosh!

The rapier tore through the air and formed a straight blazing line as it proceeded to the chest of its target.

Clang!

But before it could even reach its destination, the surface of the Zweih?nder Sword on Lucy’s hands had accurately blocked the tip of the rapier, creating blazing sparks at the point of collision.

lightsnοvεl.cοm Shin did not have the luxury to pause his actions. He needed to continue pressing on if he wanted to win this battle.

While his left hand was swiftly pulling the rapier back, his right hand was already horizontally swinging the [Yamato], borrowing the spinning momentum of his body movements.

Swoosh!

Lucy merely tilted his body and adjusted the position of his Zweih?nder Sword to the side to block a follow-up attack with ease.

Bang!

But despite that being the case, Lucy seemed to have not relaxed as he saw Shin continue spinning in the air while dragging a greatsword with his left hand and swinging it down along with his spinning movements.

Shin had unknowingly swapped the ‘Mondi’s Style’ from ‘Conviction Form’ to ‘Judgement Form’ and continued his assault.

‘Four Symbol Scripture: Divine Yellow Dragon (Metal Reinforced) – Mountain Crusher’

Boom!

The greatsword carrying both the properties of the earth and metal elements had crashed on the Zweih?nder Sword in Lucy’s hands and pressed with strong and heavy pressure.

Swoosh!

Lucy was forcefully pushed away and thrown back by that strike, cutting through the air.

Shin swiftly released the ‘Judgement Form’ and put the [Yamato] back to its sheath as he flew down and chased after Lucy.

Swoosh!

He knew that he was not a match if it was a contest of strength, especially when the opposing side possessed stats that greatly surpassed him. But it was it was this kind of fast-pace and every-changing tempo, then he might stand a chance.

But during the changes, he saw that one of the swords behind Lucy suddenly broke free from the rest and positioned itself in front of its owner. Then it pointed its tip toward Shin while releasing an enormous mana.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Not long after, he had seen a huge number of spiritual swords forming an imposing and majestic formation.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Then Shin saw the hundreds of swords flying toward his direction like a flock of aggressive birds assaulting a respective target in the air.

Swoosh!

Controlling his speed, Shin briefly slowed down before expertly executing a series of aerial maneuvers and skillfully dodging the spiritual swords one after another.

Despite their overwhelming number and how fast they could be, they failed to touch his body as he rolled, spun, flipped, and maneuvered himself in the air.

However, that was not their real purpose. Their goal was to hinder Shin and stop him from chasing after Lucy, and they had severed it well.

They had successfully bought enough time for Lucy to recover.

“Tsk! Tsk!”

Shin found them annoying before pausing in the air for a very brief moment before covering his wings with raging flames.

Then he flapped his wings along with a charge of ‘Mondi’s Jump’ to propel himself ahead.

Swoosh!

He left a long trail of blazing fire behind him during the flight before suddenly rolling in the air. This action resulted in a huge number of blazing tongues of flames flying in every direction, hitting all the spiritual swords that were trying to approach him.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

‘Four Symbol Scripture: Celestial Vermillion Bird (Metal Reinforced): Pheonix Feathers’

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

Shin might not be able to use this through normal means since he did not have a skill that could be the model for this technique.

But through ‘Metal Synergy’ Elemental Skill, he gathered the metal elemental mana in the air and formed a quantity of metal needles. After that, he hid them on his wings before igniting them with the fire elemental mana.

With all of these, he was able to mimic the original skill!

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

With his actions, a gap was formed between the formation of the spiritual swords for a brief period.

Shin had taken that opportunity to use charged forward. He flapped his wings strongly and reinforced it with the ‘Mondi’s Jump’ legacy skill to further strengthen the pushing force when propelling himself forward.

Boom!

This resulted in a sonic boom that resounded in the air entire place as he moved ahead.

The blazing trail behind him drew a straight line in the air, making it a mesmerizing sight.

At that moment, he had already caught up to Lucy. He swiftly unsheathed the [Yamato] and thrust it forward along with the raging flames that were covering the entire blade and concentrated at its tip.

Shing!

‘Jade Kirin Scripture: Quickly Draw (Fire and Metal Form): Blazing Final’

The timing and execution were perfect, but unfortunately, Lucy had already recovered at that moment and was currently in the middle of swinging his sword at him.

“Tsk!”

Shin had no choice but to redirect the trajectory of his attack targeted a certain part of his opponent’s sword. It was the part where the force was flowing, so when he had accurately hit it, most of the force dispersed before it could even reach its peak.

Clang!

The sword of his opponent slowed down and the momentum that it carried weakened. This had given Shin enough time to retreat and restart his assault.

But how come Lucy let him escape that easily?

Before Shin could even fully distance himself, he was immediately blocked by the swords floating behind Lucy.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Shin consecrated when he saw them. His eyes moved left to right and up to down, memorizing their positions and reading their trajectories.

He then skillfully moved his body from side to side, dodging each sword by a hair’s breadth while keeping an eye on the movements of his opponent.

Due to Shin halting his retreat, Lucy quickly pounced at him and threw a series of slashes while coordinating with the flying swords that were assaulting Shin.

Shin quickly felt the pressure despite his skillful display. He also felt that the space that he could dodge was gradually getting smaller as time went by.

Even though they were in the air and had plenty of space, Shin was steadily being pushed into a ‘corner.’

It was because of the skillful control of his opponent over the battle. Lucy was forcing him to choose to retreat in a certain direction. His choices seemed to have been forcefully limited by the opposing side.

Even if he tried to use his movement skills, Lucy seemed to be able to read his mind. The other side was always predicting where he would be appearing even though he shaffled between the ‘Void Steps,’ ‘Moonlight Steps,’ and ‘Phantom Steps.’

This clearly showed that techniques were much better than in-game skills at the moment.

Shin could only rely on his senses, experiences, and real-time judgments to dodge. Fortunately, his Battle Genuis Talent and Natural State were not for show. He was also gradually adjusting to the movements of his opponents and responding to the latter’s actions perfectly.

But Shin knew that this was only temporality – sooner or later, he would be forced to face Lucy in a contest of strength if he let this continue.

“I have to create an opening and force my way out,” mumbled Shin while dodging the advances of his opponent and deflecting the flying swords that were attacking from trick angles.

It was at that moment when he threw the sheath on his left hand forward, sending it straight to the face of his opponent.

Lucy merely tilted his head to the side to avoid getting hit before continuing his assault.

But that brief pause was more than enough.

Shin suddenly thrust the [Yamato] forward, forcing Lucy to block its tip with the surface of his sword.

The flying swords took that opportunity to charge at him from every direction and attacked.

From a spectator’s point of view, all the retreat paths were instantly sealed by those words.

A couple of them were also moving at a slightly slower speed, seemingly waiting for Shin to teleport to a different location. So long as there were some fluctuations of mana in the air, they would be able to read where Shin would be appearing next.

Unfortunately, the area that they were covering did not include where the thrown sheath had flown earlier.

With a snap of his fingers, Shin suddenly disappeared before appearing where the sheath was located.

‘Elemental Skill (Shadow): Shadow Mark – Teleport’

He then grabbed the sheath as soon as he appeared and swiftly put the [Yamato] in it before sending himself back to his opponent with great ferocity.

But this time, he had taken the initiative to attack. “Alright, my turn again!”
