Child of Destiny

”And~! Here we are! We only have a few minutes before our most anticipated match,” said Mr. Cool Guy.

He was one of the hosts that were chosen by True Insight to cover this match. He didn’t want to accept it at first since he was too ashamed for all of the invisible slaps that Shin gave him during the Shadow Ranking Cup.

But after learning that the game event organizers chose the ’True Sight Industries’ to be the official broadcasters of all special events of the game, Mr. Cool Guy immediately accepted the offer without any hesitation.

”This is going to be an interesting match. What do you think partner?” he asked as he turned his head at the woman beside him.

”Of course, this is going to be a very interesting match. It is a battle between a veteran Godlike Player and a rising star who attracted the attention of every player of the game,” this girl was Marry, Miss Bunny’s competitor, and greatest rival.

She was quite happy when she learned that she was chosen to cover such a sensational match. But she also became annoyed after learning that she was only the second choice. And what was worse, Miss Bunny was the first pick of their company.

When she heard about that, she couldn’t help but become enraged; it made her feel like a dumping site or something. It was as if Miss Bunny’s trash was thrown at her.

But she immediately forgot about that when she learned that their company became the official broadcasters of the game. She even thought that Miss Bunny was an idiot for missing out on an opportunity like this.

She looked at the camera with her greatest smile and said. ”Oh! I forgot to introduce myself to our first-time viewers. I’m your current host for this broadcast, Miss Marry.”

She then paused for a moment to turn her head towards Mr. Cool Guy before adding. ”I don’t need to introduce this handsome host beside me, right? After all, there is no one who can be as good-looking as him in this field.”

Mr. Cool Guy chuckled a little when he heard that and replied. ”You flattered me too much, Miss Marry. I don’t deserve such a compliment.”

After that, he smoothly shifted the topic towards the upcoming fight by saying. ”Anyway, I heard that this match even attracted the attention of the Godlike Players in the Godly Ranking List. What can you say about that, partner?”

”It is only natural, partner. After all, this Immortal that we are talking about. It is only natural for the Top-Ranked Gods to be interested in this match,” replied Miss Marry after a slight giggle.

”So, who do you favor in this match? Want to make a little betting?” asked Mr. Cool Guy while chuckling.

Hearing that, Miss Marry ’thought’ for a moment before giving her reply. ”Hmm. Ok, whoever got the right call will get a coffee treat later. Deal?”

”Call! So, ladies first. Who do you place your money on?” said Mr. Cool Guy.

”Of course, I am going with Immortal,” said Miss Marry smilingly.

Mr. Cool Guy chuckled a little when he heard that before replying. ”Too bad. He is also my bet too. Then I guess, I will choose the Dark Horse this time? Who knows the Goddess of Luck will smile upon me.”

Hearing that, Miss Marry started giggling before suggesting. ”Since we are going to bet on the same side. Then how about we make a series prediction instead? After, all this match is going to be in a best of three series. Whoever gets the accurate prediction is going to win this bet.”

”Oh! Good idea! Then I am going to bet 2-1 in Immortal’s favor,” said Mr. Cool Guy with a snap.

Miss Marry smiled a little after hearing that and replied. ”Then I’ll take 2-0 in favor of Immortal.”

Mr. Cool Guy nodded his head after closing the bet before continuing with the script. ”Speaking about bets. The odds of the betting pool in the official website are also against our dark horse.”

The moment he said those words, the huge screen behind them showed the current betting ratio in the game’s official website.

”Hmm, an 85% - 15% odds? Looks like the Angel of Death has a very few numbers of believers,” said Miss Marry after taking a quick look at the screen.

At the same time, Mr. Cool Guy nodded his head before supporting her. ”Well, that is to be expected. Immortal built a very solid reputation in the gaming industry, so it is very natural for him to get a lot of supporters.”

After that, they swiftly changed the topic while displaying a different view on the screen – it was now showing the battle arena where the duel was going to take place.

”An ordinary Gladiator’s Arena but with a larger space,” said Mr. Cool Guy while looking at the screen. And after a brief pause, he turned his head back to the camera before replying. ”Since this challenge was set in ’default mode’, we are going to have a very simple stage.”

Meanwhile, Miss Marry nodded her head and added. ”There is a hidden mechanics on the Godly Challenge Rights, but since it concerns some of the secrets of the game, we are not going to discuss it.”

”On the other hand, this arena is the most ordinary but also the fairest battlefield that the game had. Though, it can also be used as an advantage when the contender was able to utilize it properly.”

Right after she said those words, Cool Guy nodded his head repeatedly before taking over. ”You are right about that partner. This arena is the most boring place that everyone hates and loves at the same time.”

”It didn’t have any special terrains that the most talented players can take advantage of since it is just a straightforward open-field.”

Hearing that, Miss Marry immediately asked as per the script was saying. ”So, in this kind of place, which of our current contenders have the more advantages that they can use?”

Mr. Cool Guy acted as if he was thinking for a moment before giving his answer. ”Well, it still depends on the situation.”

”But since Immortal is a Necromancer, then I can still say that he has more edge in this matchup. After all, he can just summon a lot of monsters to fill the whole place.”

”Meanwhile, the Nameless Swordsman is still a melee player even if he possesses quite a number of magical skills. Moreover, those kinds of skills have a very limited range. So, I am not sure if he can’t make a path for him to reach Immortal.”

Then it was Miss Marry’s turn. ”But you also need to consider that the Nameless Swordsman has a lot of movement skills – and couple with his fancy footwork and movement combat techniques, I am pretty sure that he can at least reach Immortal, right?”

Mr. Cool Guy nodded his head and immediately replied. ”Well, you are right about that. But don’t forget that Immortal also has his own movement skills. And if you put the swarming undead in consideration, getting near Immortal is much harder than you think.”

”Getting rid of the Immortal’s undead monsters is already troublesome enough. And the fact that he can buff his undead and support them with his long-ranged skill, made him a very difficult opponent to deal.”

Miss Marry agreed with him and added. ”What’s more, Immortal is famous for his incredible control over his summoned monsters. And if you add his amazing feats about his strategic thinking, then he practically became the definition of being a one-man army.”

”This is going to be a very tough fight for our dark horse,” commented Mr. Cool Guy with his nodding head before continuing. ”I wonder how the Nameless Swordsman is going to deal with this problem.”

”Hey! Why did you close it? How are we going to watch the match then?” said Leonard as he looked at Arthur who turned off the virtual screen in front of them.

”D*mn! I am not going to help them gain a lot of ratings after giving out such biased comments,” said Arthur as he got up from his lying position. ”What they are saying is all in favor of Immortal, they didn’t even discuss Shin’s achievements – not even his playstyle, advantages, or even his strengths.”

Hearing that, Leonard couldn’t help but smile bitterly before saying. ”What can we do about that? That is how the entertainment industries work, they are always leaning towards the side who have more odds of winning.”

”And that is why I am not going to help their broadcast to gain more popularity. It is better if they invited Miss Bunny instead since she is always giving out fair comments,” said Arthur while standing up.

Leonard knitted his eyebrows before asking. ”Where are you going?”

”I am going to hold a broadcast of my own,” answered Arthur in a nonchalant manner.

Hearing that, Leonard immediately grabbed Arthur’s arm and said. ”Are you out of your mind? If you do that, then you are going to blow up Shin Bro’s cover to your sister.”

Arthur started chuckling when he heard that and immediately replied. ”Of course, I am not that idiot enough to do that. I am naturally going to use a cover of my own while covering the match.”

”Eh!? How are you going to do that?” asked Leonard confusedly.

Arthur curved his lips with a wide grin before answering. ”I have a secret blog channel of my own. And over the past years, I gained quite a lot of followers. So, I can at least hold a good Livestream with a decent number of viewers.”

Leonard was still not convinced and asked. ”But how are you going to beat the increasing rating of True Sight Industries?”

Hearing that, Arthur maintained his huge grin before replying. ”I am a secret weapon of my own.”

After that, he started walking away while having a heartful evil laugh and leaving Leonard who currently had a mixed stunned and confused look on his face. And after a few moments of staying still, he immediately chased after Arthur to see what kind of crazy stunt this showoff was planning to do.
