I Beat Up Npcs in a Bizarre World

232: Chapter 232: Testing the Gods (Part 8)”Strange, they actually just drove us away.”

The more things were like this, the more suspicious it felt.

”Your Highness, what do we do now?” the lieutenant asked, looking at Nangong Yan.

Nangong Yan looked toward Qianye.

Did she have another plan when she asked them to leave?

Qianye gazed at the city gate, her voice ethereal. ”I’m going to sneak into the city tonight to investigate. You two...”

Qianye glanced at them. ”Uh, find a place to hide first.”

Nangong Yan: ...Is she looking down on them?

He then tentatively tried to say, ”This... it’s too dangerous. I’ll go with you.”

Qianye sized the two of them up and shook her head in refusal. ”Too many people will make it easier to be exposed. It’s more convenient for me to act alone.”

She might as well have written ’you two are too useless’ on her face.

The flower in her arms swayed incessantly, expressing its protest.

Don’t forget, there was still him. One person and one flower were enough.

As night fell, Qianye walked into the city openly under the incredulous gazes of Nangong Yan and his lieutenant.

Wait, can’t these guards see her?

”Is... is she even human?” the lieutenant muttered to himself.

Unfortunately, no one answered him.

The streets were deserted, with only the dim streetlights flickering with an eerie glow.

Qianye drifted near a house and saw a family huddled together through a gap, their faces filled with terror.

While she was wondering why, heavy footsteps echoed from a distance. She stopped and looked over.

A group of people draped in black robes walked past, holding Artifacts that emitted a strange light.

Qianye pondered; the attire and behavior of these people felt sinister.

Following the direction of the Black-Robed Figures, Qianye arrived outside a massive building, from which the faint sound of chanting could be heard.

She followed them inside at the back of the line, only to see a giant, grotesque statue placed in the center, surrounded by complex runes.

At that moment, an alarm suddenly blared. Qianye looked up; above her, a red light had locked directly onto her.

Oh, Master, you’ve been discovered.

Qianye was shrouded in red light. From the outside, no one could be seen, yet no matter where she walked, that red light remained locked on her.

Hearing the alarm, the Black-Robed Figures quickly converged toward Qianye’s location.

”Sigh,” a soft lament.

Master, you must stay calm; these are all human beings.

Qianye, who was about to strike, paused. Ah, they had already left the game.

What a pity.

Qianye had no choice but to look for an exit. Everyone watched as that red dot moved incessantly; the next moment, before they could capture it, the signal disappeared.

At this moment, Qianye was also bewildered. She had just been looking for a path when she stepped into something and her entire body fell downward.

When she landed, she looked around. It was all walls, looking like a secret room.

The secret room was filled with various jars and bottles, as well as an open ancient book.

The diagrams in the book were similar to the runes outside. She was just about to study them closely when she heard movement above her—a faint, indistinct sound, like chanting.

Qianye followed the sound, and the chanting grew clearer.

Turning a corner, a heavy stone door appeared before her. The door was half-ajar, revealing a faint light.

She slipped into the room. The interior was filled with swirling mist, and a group of Black-Robed Figures surrounded a high platform. A young woman lay on the platform, her eyes tightly closed as if in a coma.

The surrounding Black-Robed Figures chanted scriptures continuously. As they recited, faint black lines emerged on the woman’s body, spreading out in all directions.
