Raising Yanderes to save the world

Kael’s journey began as soon as the ceremony for appointing him as the Grand Master ended. A cart was already prepared to take him to the chosen hero’s village.

He had never questioned it in his past life, but now that he had more experience, he could tell that something fishy was going on.

As far as he had been told, the decision to send him to serve as the hero’s teacher was made only two days before his appointment as the Grand Master. But all the preparations to send him away were completed too quickly.

Even if the Council of Mages was fast, this was far too fast.

”Is something wrong, Grand Master Kael? Your expression looks troubled.”

The elder asked him in the same soft voice he always used. In the past, Kael had always tried not to trouble the elder and had held his tongue.

But since this was his second chance, he was going to use every opportunity to get answers.

”I was just surprised at how fast things are moving right now. It has only been two days, but all the preparations to send me to serve as the hero’s teacher are already done. I don’t think even ’urgent’ files move this fast.”

The elder flinched but quickly masked his expression.

But that small action was enough to tell Kael that something fishy was going on.

”Ah, it’s because matters regarding the hero are of utmost urgency. That’s why we have decided to move things faster than usual. We are all counting on you, Grand Master Kael.”

The elder was good at deflecting questions.

Kael decided not to push the elder too much this time. He would get a chance to find more answers in the future.

For now, it was important for him to maintain a good impression on the elders.

”I will do my best. I hope you will support me as well.”

The elder smiled at Kael and the cart finally started to move toward the hero’s village.

...

The cart that was provided to Kael was of the highest quality. But he was used to the comfort of modern cars.

No matter how high-quality the cart was, it could not match modern comfort. The only way to replicate it was to cast a spell.

But there was no existing spell to make this ride more comfortable. It was up to Kael to create a spell.

For an ordinary mage, it was an impossible task. But as the youngest Grand Master, it was nothing special for him.

Moreover, since he already had a clear idea of the kind of spell he wanted, the mana aided him in creating the spell.

He spent the rest of the ride recalling his two lives and separating them in his mind.

Before he knew it, he had arrived at his destination - the hero’s village.

It was a decently sized village ruled by a lord. It was nothing special to look at...except for the number of people lingering in the streets.

The recent increase in population was due to the hero’s selection.

Kael walked out of the cart and headed toward the temple where the hero had already been relocated.

He kept an ear out for gossip and heard people speaking about the temple and its prophecy.

”The previous saintess died. Her final prophecy was about the hero.”

”I cannot believe the hero is so young. He’s only fourteen right now. But the saintess is already dead. Who knows when the next one will awaken? What will the hero do now?”

”I heard the mages are sending their youngest Grand Master to become the hero’s teacher. I cannot believe they want to interfere in the temple’s affairs.”

”Well, they have the perfect excuse right now. Honestly, the temple is in a bind as well. I wonder how this will affect the shift in power.”

”Who knows? Frankly, it will not affect us common folk anyway, so who cares? All we need to do is focus on our own affairs.”

No one recognized Kael and just like in his past life, he made it to the temple where the hero and his student, Leon, were located.

Leon was his greatest regret. Kael had failed him as a human and as a result, the world had been destroyed.

But since he had been given another chance, he would make sure to do things right this time.

’This time, I will make sure Leon does not grow emotionally detached and actually pays attention to the people around him.’

Kael took a deep breath before he pushed open the door of the cathedral. And with that, he finally took a step into the temple’s territory.

The screens flashed in front of Kael’s face and as soon as he finished reading the text, it disappeared. No one else seemed to have seen the screens, which made him even more sure it was some kind of ancient magic.

Kael wanted to cast a spell and trace any magical residue, but he did not get the chance to do so. Someone was already waiting to guide him.

”Are you Grand Master Kael? Please follow me inside. Your student is waiting for you.”

The priest spoke to Kael in a polite voice. But the look in his eyes was anything but polite.

In fact, Kael could see that the priest was taken aback by how young he looked. At the same time, the priest was calculating how to use him.

His younger self would not have understood anything that was happening. But because he carried the experience of two lifetimes, it was far easier for him to see it all.

But he did not put up any resistance and went along for now. First, he needed to meet Leon and get him as well as Seraphina out from under the temple’s clutches.

Then he could finally start teaching them for real.

Kael followed the priest, but they had not gone too far when the priest let out a curse and grabbed a child’s hand.

The one he had grabbed wore torn and dirty clothes and looked exhausted. But despite these hardships, the fifteen-year-old girl’s beauty shone brightly.

He recognized that face as Seraphina, the future Saintess as well as the one who would gain the title of ’Saint of Holy Ruin’ in the future.

”What are you doing? Didn’t I tell you not to come out?”

The priest kept his voice low, but frustration bled into his tone. It prompted Kael to take action to help the girl in trouble.

After all, no matter what she would become in the future, she was an innocent kid now. Kael needed to start early and help her in order to show her that not everyone was out to get her.
