Ascension Online: My Beasts Evolve infinitely

Cinder Charge normally came with a guaranteed stagger, enough raw impact to leave most targets reeling the instant the charger connected.

In a hundred fights, Kael had never seen it fail. This time, the collision landed like striking open air.

The Wraithlord’s charger passed clean through the Hollow Emissary’s cloaked form without a flicker of resistance.

The flames on its hooves streamed through the figure and out the other side, and the damage was barely worth logging.

The stagger never registered at all. The ash-gray cloak simply rippled and settled, as though a draft had wandered through the room.

The Wraithlord wheeled his mount around, hollow helm turning, and for the first time since Kael had bound him, the dead knight seemed to hesitate.

Hollowform.

It was a rare passive, reserved for the highest tier of ghost-aligned monsters. It granted full immunity to unit collision and a steep cut to all physical damage taken, and it was one of the most valuable defensive tools in the entire game.

Whole raid teams had broken themselves against it in his first life, hammering steel into smoke until their weapons shattered.

It carried one real weakness. Magic slipped through that same immunity untouched, and certain specialized effects punished it even harder for the privilege.

Thunder Roc’s bloodline fell squarely into that category.

The Stormcrown flared gold instead of blue, dense with a raw, searing current that read as something close to holy against anything built from shadow and death.

The air in the chamber turned sharp and bright, and every hair on Kael’s arms stood on end. The great wings snapped wide.

A thick bolt of molten lightning crashed down in a single devastating strike, and the stone floor lit up white around the point of impact.

The Emissary convulsed under the blow, and a true scream tore loose from beneath the hood, thin and ragged, the sound of something very old being burned.

-351

Against a health pool north of half a million, the number barely dented the bar. Still, compared to every other hit landed so far, it was the single most effective strike of the fight, and all of them knew it.

Kael’s eyes sharpened. He triggered Spectral Aspect without hesitation, and a second golden shape tore loose from the first, wings spread, lightning crawling along its feathers. Thunder Roc was now two.

These two carry this fight.

The Emissary had no intention of absorbing punishment quietly.

Crimson malice flared behind the hood and locked squarely onto the golden eagle, and the two points of light burned a shade brighter. It flicked a sleeve, almost lazily, and a cold, soul-deep gust rolled straight toward the bird.

Soulwind Gale.

Thunder Roc’s bloodline granted real resistance to exactly this kind of effect, and the dense golden current wrapped around it was about as far from spiritually vulnerable as a creature could get.

None of it mattered against a gap this steep. The wind hit the eagle like a wall, and one cast tore more than thirty thousand health off its total in a single pass.

Against a pool barely over two hundred thousand, that one hit had just erased close to a seventh of everything it had.

That’s the kind of damage an Epic boss actually hits for.

Kael didn’t let the shock slow him. His left hand rose, and a pulse of Healing Light washed over Thunder Roc, soft and warm in the cold chamber.

A full rotation of buffs followed at once, layered on top like armor going on piece by piece.

Then he gave the signal, and the rest of the roster surged in together.

The Void Colossus split its jaws wide, and a warped, distorting shriek rolled out across the chamber, bending the very air.

Hollowscream.

The damage was spirit-aligned, and it landed with extra weight against anything built the way the Emissary was built.

The wraiths coiling around the scythe recoiled, and the faces in the blade twisted in fresh agony.

Lyra’s bow sang in a steady, relentless rhythm, starlit arrows raining down in continuous volleys that lit the room like a falling constellation.

Elara’s staff wove a constant stream of ice into the fray beside her, frost blooming across the floor in ragged, glittering fans. Kael himself pressed forward with the fused blade, cutting in wherever an opening showed.

Reduced damage or not, Hollowform had never promised full immunity, and every strike that connected still drew blood, dark and slow as old ink.

The fight settled into a brutal, grinding rhythm.

Raw level and attribute advantage belonged to the Emissary, and every attack it made, even the casual ones, carried real weight. A flick of the scythe cracked the stone.

A sweep of the sleeve sent a companion skidding backward across the floor. Kael’s side made up the gap with numbers, companions rotating through aggro and control effects buying brief windows wherever they landed.

No one fought alone. No one stood still for more than a heartbeat.Ten minutes of sustained fighting ground the Emissary’s health down to a third of its total.

Kael’s own side had fared considerably worse. Every companion sat below half health, and the chamber stank of ozone and cold iron and scorched stone. Thunder Roc was in the worst shape of all.

It had drawn the lion’s share of the aggro for the entire fight, and its bar had dropped to a bare sliver, a thin red thread trembling at the edge of empty.

The Emissary saw it too.

Murder flashed beneath the hood. It triggered Hollowleap, dissolving into chill wind, and reappeared directly above Thunder Roc, scythe already rising for the kill.

Kael reacted on pure instinct. *Phase Shift.* In a single breath, he swapped places with the eagle.

Thunder Roc vanished from the strike zone untouched.

Kael took the full weight of the blow in its place, and his health collapsed under the impact. The cold went through him like a spear, and for a moment the whole chamber tilted.

The fused blade in his hands burned through the last of its durability in the same instant, and the fusion came apart in a burst of red light.

The Bloodscale Reaver reverted in midair and crashed to the stone, still trailing a thin ribbon of blood. The attribute bonus that had been propping up Kael’s stat sheet vanished with it, all at once, like a floor dropping out from under him.

Without that transfer, he stood in front of an Epic boss with numbers closer to an ordinary player’s. Paper-thin, by comparison.

He broke off and retreated without hesitation, and in the same motion, severed the Reaver’s bond.

The instant the contract dissolved, the Reaver snapped free of every restriction holding it down.

It was no longer bound to Kael and no longer suppressed under the Spire’s own level-cap rules, and its full Level 51 Legendary stat sheet surged back online.

The huge red-scaled body swelled, and the room seemed to shrink around it.

To the Hollow Emissary, bound or unbound meant nothing. Anything inside its domain that wasn’t already marked as a target was simply a target.

It rounded on the newly freed Reaver and brought its scythe down in a vicious arc, and the two bosses crashed into open conflict with each other.

Steel met black iron with a shriek that rattled the torches in their brackets. The floor shook beneath them, and chips of stone rained from the ceiling.

Kael pulled back to a safe distance, breath rasping, and watched, tracking the Emissary’s health with a predator’s focus. Behind him, his companions fell into a loose ring, wounded and waiting, and none of them looked away from the fight.

Down to a third. Let’s check the odds.

The bond’s success rate had climbed considerably since his first failed attempt.

It had risen from a flat 0.1% to a fresh 1.2%, the number ticking upward in direct proportion to how badly damaged the target had become.

And that’s before the Ring’s own math gets added on top.

A fresh glint lit behind his eyes. He locked onto the Hollow Emissary once more, across the churning wreckage of the fight, and triggered the bond without hesitation.

Warden’s Mandate.
