Chapter 683: Don’t Tell Latifa

Today was Lotte’s day off.

It was a rare day when she didn’t have to take care of the chores in the clock tower, as well as look after her Master, Latifa.

Lulu was just as capable as her in handling things. Plus, since it was also Lumi’s turn to guard Latifa, she finally had some free time after a long time.

’But, where should I go?’ Lotte thought.

Back then, she wouldn’t even need to ponder this question. She would just simply travel to far away places and return by the time her vacation ended.

However, for some reason, there was one person she wanted to see right now.

After making up her mind, Lotte flew toward the dormitory and infiltrated Alex’s room.

It was still very early in the morning. To her surprise, only Alex was inside the room. Either Chuck left early or he didn’t sleep in the dormitory last night.

Since there was no need to hide, Lotte materialized herself beside the young man’s bed and looked at his face.

To her surprise, she saw Alex crying in his sleep.

’Is he having a sad dream?’ Lotte was very tempted to enter his dream world to see what kind of dream he was having.

But before she could even do that, Alex slowly opened his eyes. His eyes landed on Lotte, but he didn’t greet her.

Instead, he raised his hand to wipe the tears in his eyes. Yet, the tears still didn’t stop.

It had been a while since Alex had cried, so maybe the pent-up emotions he had been holding back for so long finally found a reason to rise up to the surface.

Lotte pondered for a while before sitting on the side of the bed. She then reached out to hold Alex and pulled him close in an embrace.

”Just let it out,” Lotte said, lightly patting Alex’s back. ”I’m here.”

Truth be told, she and Alex had very few instances of intimacy.

At most, he would brush her tail or give her a kiss on the cheek. Though, this only happened once a week.

Compared to Latifa and Lumi, who didn’t hesitate to cuddle and kiss him if there was an opportunity, Lotte simply stayed by the sidelines.

But seeing Alex so hurt made her own heart ache.

The young man reached out to hug Lotte tightly and no longer bothered to wipe the tears streaming down his face.

Half an hour later, Alex had finally calmed down.

He thanked Lotte for her help and told her that she no longer needed to worry about him. However, how could she not worry when he looked so heartbroken?

She then wondered if Alex had a fight with any of his lovers, but she was too shy to ask him about this kind of information.

Unlike Lumi, who was straightforward, or Lulu, who was cunning, Lotte was Latifa’s most balanced Alter.

She excelled neither in fighting or magic. However, she was very good with miscellaneous activities like chores, studying, etc.

”You don’t look okay to me,” Lotte said calmly. ”Do you want to talk about the thing that is hurting you?”

Alex raised his head to look at her. His eyes were filled with uncertainty on whether he should share what he had seen in his dream or not.

Reverse Latifa and Reverse Lala was a sensitive topic for Latifa and her Alters.

Sure, they might not be the same person or lived in the same world. But in his eyes, Reverse Latifa and Latifa were just two sides of the same coin.

Both were real, so he couldn’t bear to make her feel sad about the fate of an Alter that didn’t manifest through her own power.

”It’s nothing.” Alex shook his head.

Understanding that he didn’t want to share what had hurt him, Lotte decided not to pry any longer.

Instead, she moved closer to kiss Alex’s cheek, something she would never do unless he kissed her first.

In her own way, Lotte wished for Alex to feel better, and the young man understood this gesture.

”Thank you, Lotte,” Alex said. ”You’re really kind.”

The young man then kissed her cheek before hugging her one more time. This hug only lasted for a few seconds before Alex reluctantly pulled back.

”I’ll take a shower.” Alex stood up to walk towards the bathroom.

Lotte watched him go, fully knowing that if it had been Lumi with him right now, she would definitely follow him to the bathroom without a second thought.

But Lumi was Lumi, and Lotte was Lotte. It would be unbecoming of her to do such a thing.

And yet... she felt tempted to do it.

’What are you thinking, Lotte?!’ Lotte chastised herself. ’I’m not Lumi!’

Yet, that thought lingered. As someone who was born to take care of her Master and others, she couldn’t turn a blind eye to what was happening to Alex.

An internal battle suddenly began inside his head.

One side wished to care for Alex using any means possible, while the other side wanted her to exercise restraint. After all, that wasn’t something a pure maiden like her should be doing in the first place.

While Lotte was still in the midst of a civil war inside her head, the door of the bathroom opened.

Alex came out wiping his hair with a towel. His lower half had a towel wrapped around it, so there was nothing to see aside from his lean and toned upper body.

Lotte wasn’t aware that her internal battle had lasted more than twenty minutes, which was enough time for the young man to finish showering.

Alex headed to his closet to take his uniform. But that was when he sensed Lotte’s presence behind him.

”Let me help you put on your clothes,” Lotte said calmly.

”Are you sure?” Alex asked before doing his best to smile. ”This might be a little too early for you, Lotte.”

”I’m sure,” Lotte replied firmly. She then took Alex’s uniform from his hand and placed it on the bed.

She then grabbed hold of Alex’s underwear with the intention of putting it on him herself.

Seeing her determined gaze, Alex had no heart to stop her.

”Okay, but don’t take the towel off,” Alex compromised.

Lotte nodded. She then crouched down to help Alex wear it.

As her hands moved upward, she accidentally hit the towel. In a matter of seconds, it unraveled right in front of her.

”Good morning!” Little Alex greeted Lotte after that, making the young lady freeze in place.

A part of her wanted to flick the little guy with her finger, while the other half told her to restrain herself once more.

If Lumi was in her place, the former might have kissed Little Alex, which might have caused a delay for the young man to head to the dining hall to have breakfast before classes started.

However, she was a professional. After that short moment of surprise, she covered the little guy right away.

She then helped Alex button up his uniform and even helped him wear his socks. Of course, she also helped him tie his shoes.

From start to finish, she served him properly like a proper maid.

”Your hair is still messy,” Lotte said before pointing at the chair in front of the dresser. ”Sit.”

Alex obeyed and sat properly. Lotte combed his still wet hair while thinking of changing Alex’s hairstyle for the day.

After careful thought, she decided to give it a try. Of course, she made sure to ask for Alex’s permission first.

”Sounds fun,” Alex said. ”Do it.”

With his permission, Lotte worked hard to give Alex a new hairstyle that would have made Chuck’s jaw open wide.

The young man usually didn’t make any effort to look good in front of others. At best, he’d pick nicer clothes.

But this time, Lotte even used a special gel that helped Alex’s hair stay in place.

Right now, he looked very dashing.

”You look like a prince,” Lotte said after she finished her work, admiring the result in the mirror.

”Maybe I am one?” Alex replied in a teasing tone. ”Thank you, Lotte.”

Alex then stood up to kiss her cheek as a thank you, but Lotte suddenly moved.

Instead of her cheek, Alex’s lips landed on her lips.

It was only for a brief second, but it was enough for a small spark to light inside their hearts.

”Don’t tell Latifa,” Lotte said as she cupped Alex’s face. ”Or else I won’t serve you toast and omelet again.”

”Okay,” Alex promised.

A moment later, the two once again kissed, and kissed some more after that.

Needless to say, Alex left the room thirty minutes later.

Although there were still many thoughts troubling his mind, his heart had been put at ease by Lotte, who did her best to help the young man start his day right.
