Master of Nine Stars

...

”Are both student teams ready?” The referee turned his head left and right, confirming with each side before waving down his small flag. ”FWEEET~!”

The match begins!

”Kill!” Rong Taotao roared, charging out with Gao Lingwei.

His voice was picked up by a tiny microphone and broadcast live, reaching countless homes through their television screens.

To everyone watching, Rong Taotao and Gao Lingwei were undoubtedly the underdogs. But the moment the match began, Rong Taotao’s roar of ”Kill!” was absolutely stunning in its ferocity.

The experts in the audience couldn’t help but nod in silent approval. By all rights, Rong Taotao and Gao Lingwei should have taken a defensive stance. But against Ocean Soul Martial Artists, especially on their home turf, defending was tantamount to a slow suicide.

On the other side, Tang Yang charged forward as well. A mist of water coalesced in his hand, from which he drew a Cyan Dragon Yanyue Saber.

Watching the pair charge at him, Tang Yang remained utterly fearless. The smile on his face even widened. ”Come on!”

”Afraid to look at me?” Gao Lingwei scoffed, her eyes fixed intently on Tang Yang.

Tang Yang suddenly sneered. ”Against you? Don’t need to. I could beat you with my eyes closed!”

And as he spoke, Tang Yang actually closed his eyes.

Gao Lingwei’s gaze shifted to the distant Tang Meng in the rear, but Tang Meng simply reached out, raising a curtain of water before her.

Ocean Soul Technique—Elite: Water Curtain!

Its defensive properties weren’t great, but it was excellent at obstructing one’s line of sight.

Tang Meng had mastered the creative use of this Soul Skill. Gazing through the Water Curtain, her vision of the world became a blur. This not only effectively prevented eye contact with Gao Lingwei but also didn’t stop Tang Meng from observing the battlefield.

The figures were blurry, but still easy enough to make out.

Her brother, Tang Yang, was well over one-point-nine meters tall, with a strong, sturdy build that made him easy to identify.

The next moment, innumerable Water Snakes emerged from the puddles at Tang Meng’s feet. They craned their necks, their heads morphing into hands that reached out toward the center of the arena.

SCREEECH!

With a piercing screech, the Heaven-piercing Halberd and the Cyan Dragon Yanyue Saber clashed violently. A numbing ache shot through the webbing of Gao Lingwei’s thumb, but she used the momentum to leap diagonally backward.

Rong Taotao immediately followed up, thrusting his halberd straight at Tang Yang’s face.

”Heh.” Tang Yang sneered. He brought his saber down with the momentum, slamming Rong Taotao’s Heaven-piercing Halberd toward the ground. ”Take my advice, kid. Surrender now, and you can spare yourself a world of hurt.”

”Kid?” Rong Taotao’s long halberd was pinned to the grass. With the ironspear point anchored to the ground, he violently flicked the halberd shaft upward, then followed with a spinning kick that slammed into the shaft. ”I’m not small, and I’m no friend of yours!”

WHAP~!

With its point still planted on the ground, the halberd shaft whipped toward Tang Yang.

Tang Yang’s eyes snapped open. He flicked his great saber upward as well, parrying the whipping halberd shaft.

The next moment, Tang Yang bellowed, ignoring Rong Taotao completely and charging toward Gao Lingwei at his side. ”Did I say you could *leave*?!”

’This Gao Lingwei... Is she trying to charge the backline and fight my sister, Tang Meng?’

Tang Yang had just taken a single step when the exact same words echoed from behind him: ”Did *I* say you could leave?!”

Rong Taotao’s roar was even more fiery and explosive than Tang Yang’s!

Tang Yang’s expression changed. A vague sense of unease washed over him, and he immediately dodged to the side.

WHOOSH...

A heavy, dark-gold hammer whistled past Tang Yang’s side with astonishing force!

In the instant Tang Yang was interrupted, Gao Lingwei had already used her long strides to break away from the melee, sprinting madly toward the enemy’s side of the field!

”Holy shit! That was so f*cking cool! ’Did I say you could leave?!’ Hahaha!”

”There’s something else about this kid. I’m not even talking about his skills—just watching him fight is so damn hype!”

”Tsk, tsk. If he keeps fighting like this, it won’t be long before he has enough clips for another highlight reel...”

On the field, the corner of Tang Meng’s mouth curved up. Peering through the Water Curtain at the approaching Gao Lingwei, she spoke softly in her mind, ’Hehe, let her come. How about a little contest? Let’s see which of us can take down our opponent first?’

”Haha!” Tang Yang laughed, brandishing his Cyan Dragon Yanyue Saber. ”Alright! You’re on!”

The battlefield instantly split into two separate duels.

Tang Yang’s Cyan Dragon Crescent Blade and Rong Taotao’s Heaven-piercing Halberd clashed and weaved, a thrilling sight for the spectators.

Meanwhile, Gao Lingwei’s advance drew waves of gasps from the crowd!

On her path toward the ”Deity,” countless hands made of water shot out, clawing at her.

Empowered by her Snow Dance, Gao Lingwei moved with the speed of a cheetah. She displayed astonishing body control, no less than that of a gymnast, her movements the epitome of grace.

Weaving between the arms of the Water Snakes, Gao Lingwei dodged and maneuvered, twisting her body like a contortionist as she charged relentlessly forward.

A faint smile played on Tang Meng’s lips. The hand holding up the Water Curtain suddenly pushed forward, her five fingers spreading as they passed through the watery wall. She whispered, ”A fine performance. You deserve a reward.”

FWOOSH...

In an instant, five meters ahead of Gao Lingwei, water from several puddles shot into the air and began to spin violently!

Ocean Soul Technique—Elite: Water Dragon Tornado!

Gao Lingwei’s eyes narrowed. Tang Meng was clearly an experienced fighter. The Water Dragon Tornado took a moment to form, so instead of casting it directly at Gao Lingwei’s feet, Tang Meng had anticipated her speed and initiated it five meters ahead.

Having just leaped to dodge the Water Snake hands assailing her from all sides, Gao Lingwei was in mid-air with no leverage to change course.
