Master of Nine Stars

Chapter 62: Chapter 53: Blast Pearl

Yang Chunxi casually flicked her wrist, and a slender Snow-made Teaching Whip appeared in her hand.

She turned around and, using the long whip, wrote the two words ”Snowflake Wolf” on the blackboard behind her.

The snowflakes left on the ice-covered blackboard didn’t melt, remaining in place just like chalk. Everyone watched, clicking their tongues in amazement.

Yang Chunxi then wrote two more words: ”Snow Step” and ”Snow Burst.”

She turned back around and began, ”The Snowflake Wolf has two Soul Skills: Snow Burst and Snow Step.

On a side note, embedding this Soul Pearl in your ankle yields greater benefits, allowing you to use both Soul Skills. But if you embed it in your wrist, you can only use Snow Burst.

Some Soul Skills, like Snow Burst and Snow Step, can be learned through practice. Others cannot and can only be used by embedding a Soul Pearl in your body.”

Yang Chunxi continued, ”To use an analogy, learning a skill on your own is like being taught how to build a weapon.

Embedding a Soul Pearl, on the other hand, is like someone handing you a gun. All you have to do is pull the trigger. It’s convenient, but you don’t understand the principles behind it.”

The students looked at their teacher eagerly and nodded lightly.

Yang Chunxi: ”The ’Blast Pearl’ technique is when you choose to detonate the Soul Pearl embedded in one of your Soul Slots all at once.

This phenomenon is not uncommon. Many Soul Martial Artists will choose to use ’Blast Pearl’ in a life-or-death situation.

Detonating the Soul Pearl in your Soul Slot is a desperate, all-or-nothing move. The Soul Skill within that Soul Pearl will erupt with a level of energy far higher than usual.

For example, this Snowflake Wolf’s Soul Pearl contains a Normal-Level Snow Burst. If you embed it in your wrist’s Soul Slot and choose to initiate a one-time ’Blast Pearl’...

Your next attack will unleash something close to an Excellent-Level Snow Burst, and the damage output will be of a whole different quality.

But you must remember, after the Blast Pearl, the Soul Pearl embedded in your wrist will be shattered. This means your gun is gone.

So, for any Soul Skill that can be learned through practice, don’t be lazy. Do your best to master the principles and learn to build the gun yourself.”

”Well... it has its pros and cons,” Yang Chunxi said, organizing her thoughts. ”After all, any Soul Skill you learn on your own cannot produce an explosive, overpowered output in a short time, but a Blast Pearl can.”

Rong Taotao suddenly raised his hand. ”Why can’t I both learn the skill myself and embed a Soul Pearl of the same type?”

Yang Chunxi nodded. ”That is certainly an option. Many Soul Martial Artists do this to catch their opponents off guard.

For example, with the Snowflake Wolf’s Snow Burst Soul Skill, you could learn Snow Burst yourself and also have a Snowflake Wolf Soul Pearl embedded in your wrist. Once an enemy thinks your Snow Burst is just the self-taught version and gets used to its power level, you could suddenly initiate a Blast Pearl at a critical moment in battle and achieve a surprisingly effective result.

Comparatively speaking, however, a greater variety of Soul Skills is more beneficial to a Soul Martial Artist.

There are many Soul Skills for the wrist slot, including some that human scholars have yet to decipher. Those can only be used by embedding a Soul Pearl.”

”Mm,” Rong Taotao nodded, then suddenly blurted out, ”Can Soul Pets be blasted?”

Yang Chunxi glanced at the Cloud Dog perched on Rong Taotao’s head and said, ”Your Lifebound Soul Beast cannot. It doesn’t even occupy one of your Soul Slots, because it has already merged with you.

A Soul Pet is different from a Lifebound Soul Beast. A Soul Pet requires a Soul Slot.

A Soul Pet... can indeed be blasted.

But that isn’t an offensive technique. It is purely a way to kill your Soul Pet to free up a Soul Slot.

In the future, if you have a Soul Pet, you should do your best to avoid this. After all, the Soul Pet trusted you and chose to follow you, yet you would kill it just because you found a better Soul Pearl, Soul Skill, or another Soul Pet...

Such an act is despicable. If you are determined to ’blast’ your Soul Pet, you had better hide it from everyone else.

The world of Soul Martial Artists has many unwritten rules, and no one wants to ruin their reputation.

And... more importantly, even if you manage to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes, you cannot fool your own Lifebound Soul Beast.

As a Soul Beast itself, how your Lifebound Soul Beast feels when it sees another Soul Pet killed is something beyond your control.

You must understand that if you want to achieve anything in your career as a Soul Martial Artist, you and your Lifebound Soul Beast must be of one mind. The slightest crack in your bond could cause you to stagnate at a certain power level, unable to ever improve.”

At this, Yang Chunxi actually smiled. ”You’re lucky. As you were asking this question, your Lifebound Soul Beast was fast asleep.”

Rong Taotao gave an awkward laugh. ”I was just asking! It’s for the sake of learning, you know? It’s not like I actually want to blast a pet. If I had a Soul Pet, I couldn’t dote on it enough...”

”Alright, alright,” Yang Chunxi cut off Rong Taotao’s attempt to prove his loyalty and turned back to the class. ”Do you have any other questions?”

Lu Mang: ”What should we be aware of when absorbing a Soul Pet?”

Yang Chunxi looked at Lu Mang. ”You can have as many Soul Pets as you have Soul Slots. The important thing to note is that a Soul Pet’s Attribute should preferably not conflict with your own.

In other words, the Soul Pet’s Attribute should, at the very least, not conflict with your Lifebound Soul Beast’s Attribute.

Furthermore, it’s also best if the Attributes between Soul Pets are harmonious. It’s best, but not required.”

At this point, Yang Chunxi looked at Rong Taotao and said, ”A Cloud Peak Soul Martial Artist, as long as they have enough Soul Slots, can possess Soul Pets of every elemental type.

But the Snow Realm Soul Pet, Starfield Soul Pet, and Magma Soul Pet inside their body will treat the Soul Martial Artist’s body as a battlefield.

Even under their master’s supervision, the Soul Pets might not fight to the death, but they will absolutely not coexist peacefully.

I know you all have exceptional Talent and numerous Soul Slots, but you’d best put away any collector’s tendencies. It will only drain your energy and slow your growth.”

It was clear that among all the students, only Lu Mang’s family hadn’t provided him with ”early education.” Well... Lu Mang’s parents were indeed not Soul Martial Artists.

This was all knowledge that Soul Martial families had already taught their children as they were growing up.

For instance, the two sisters, Stone Tower and Shi Lan, and the young couple, Sun Xingyu and Li Ziyi, obviously knew all of this already.

Lu Mang: ”After absorbing a Soul Pet, can the Soul Martial Artist themselves use the Soul Pet’s Soul Skills?”

Before Yang Chunxi could speak, Xu Taiping’s cold voice came from the back of the room: ”No!”

Xu Taiping kept his head down, speaking one word at a time, ”Lu Mang, I know what you’re thinking. The Ice Soul Guide clan will never be anyone’s pet. A word of advice: don’t play with fire.”

Lu Mang, sitting in the front row, remained expressionless and didn’t even turn his head. ”Don’t think too highly of yourself. Besides, I’m a Snow Realm Soul Martial Artist. If I’m going to play, I’ll be playing with snow.”

Xu Taiping: ”You’re asking to die.”

Lu Mang: ”Everyone dies.”

”Both of you, shut up!” Yang Chunxi’s voice was stern, her face flushed with anger. ”Go stand by the wall, now!”

The third column was suddenly mostly empty, leaving only a silent Jiao Tengda, who was huddled in his chair, trembling.

Trapped between this person and this beast, after only two days, Jiao Tengda had already had enough...

Daily classes were one thing, but the key was sleeping in the same dorm at night. Jiao Tengda slept in utter terror. In fact, he had already stopped one conflict just last night.

A strange, extremely intimidating, and even terrifying light glinted in Yang Chunxi’s dark eyes as she swept her gaze over everyone.

She asked in a frosty voice, ”Any more questions?”

Seeing the utterly horrifying look in Yang Chunxi’s eyes, everyone immediately lowered their heads, silent as cicadas in winter, not daring to make another sound.

The atmosphere in the room was quite oppressive, until Yang Chunxi finally spoke: ”Pack your bags and go back to the dorm. Have the soldiers at the door take you back. Lu Mang, Xu Taiping, you two stay behind.”

Rong Taotao grabbed his schoolbag and ran, nearly flinging the Cloud Dog off his head.

’Wow, Sister-in-law is so scary.’

’Sigh... what a shame. She was such a gentle and elegant woman. Why did she have to be a head teacher...’

’Did she feel she was too young and beautiful, and was missing the aura of Master Extinction?’

’Oh, my foolish brother,’

’I won’t say more. I just hope you have a happy life ahead of you.’
