Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path

Chapter 443: Chapter 443: Not a Soldier

Wang Meili returned home anxiously, and Gu Haojun had not yet come back.

”Why are you back so early today?” Old Mrs. Gu said, ”Junior hasn’t come home for several days, and as his mother, you don’t seem to care at all.”

Wang Meili said nothing, but her eyes kept glancing toward the door.

Old Mrs. Gu sighed upon seeing this, ”Peiling is quite a good child, why doesn’t Jun like her?”

Wang Meili immediately felt a terrible headache.

But as for Wang Peiling being pregnant with someone else’s child and wanting to marry her son Haohuan, she dared not let Old Mrs. Gu know, otherwise, even her family would be blamed.

Gu Haojun really didn’t want to come back to this house, but as Gu Lingling said, avoiding things is not a solution.

Taking this opportunity to talk about Liu Juanhao, he should hurry and settle the marriage during the New Year.

”Jun, you’re back.” As soon as Gu Haojun appeared at the door, Wang Meili rushed out, ”You’re finally back. Come on, let’s talk in mom’s room.”

”No need, where’s Grandma?” Gu Haojun asked.

She knew that Wang Meili wanted to talk to her about something related to Wang Peiling, and that she had introduced her to her son without knowing the truth; she too was deceived.

But none of this mattered to Gu Haojun anymore.

”What?” Wang Meili disappointedly tugged at her son’s sleeve, looking at him with a pleading face, ”Your grandma doesn’t know about Peiling’s situation, Junior, I...”

Gu Haojun gave a faint smile.

So it turns out she was waiting here for him, not to explain, but to fear that he would tell Old Mrs. Gu about Wang Peiling’s pregnancy.

”Don’t worry, I won’t say anything,” Gu Haojun said with a self-mocking smile.

”Junior, mom really didn’t know. If I had known, I definitely wouldn’t have...” Wang Meili hastily explained.

”I know.” After saying that, Gu Haojun went into the room on his own, ”Grandma, I’m back.”

”Junior’s back, come sit, Grandma will make your favorite noodles with sauce in a moment,” Old Mrs. Gu said with a smile from the kitchen.

”Grandma, you don’t need to busy yourself right now.” Gu Haojun pulled Old Mrs. Gu to sit on the chair, ”I have something to tell you.”

”What’s up?” Why so serious?

”Well, I’ve been seeing someone in the army, and I’ve already submitted the marriage report.” A rare gentleness appeared on Gu Haojun’s face as he said, ”Her name is Liu Juanhao, she’s a very good girl, and I came back this time to tell you about it.”

”I’m thinking of waiting for the report to be approved, and before the year is over, we come back and have a small banquet at home.”

”But...we haven’t even met this person.” Old Mrs. Gu said, ”You know, marriage is a lifelong matter, I think Peiling is a good girl, why don’t you...”

”Junior, can’t you give Peiling a chance?” The day that girl left, she cried so much, her eyes were swollen, it pained her to watch.

”Mom, do you think someone like Wang Peiling is suitable?” Gu Haojun asked Wang Meili with a half-smile.

”Of course...of course not.” Wang Meili said awkwardly, ”But shouldn’t we meet this Juanhao? What does she do? Is she in the military? How many people are in her family? What does she look like? We don’t know any of this.”

”You are about to get married, this can’t be done just like that.”

”Don’t you trust my judgment?” Gu Haojun said, ”She’s a girl from a nearby village of our unit, very kind, you’ll definitely like her.”

”Not in the military!” Wang Meili asked loudly.
